So Roma may fine Menez over his comments. That seems kind of heavy handed, but whatever. Obviously they need to deal with this before it gets out of hand. (this being Roma, of course it turns into a huge drama)
“I won things with that shirt and I know what it means. In no other city does a victory mean as much as in Rome."
I don't think they are going to fine him in the end, Lupa, at least I don't think they should. He is still young and he is still learning, the future of the club – both ownership and management – are uncertain, so everyone should relax and let it rest.
I see the break in Serie A has got the mercato madness machine grinding out the waffle again, with the likes of Buffon, Pirlo, Diamanti, Lugano, Coentrao, Santana, Diamanti, Hoarau, Pastore etc. all linked to us… oh, and De Rossi to Madrid rumours again, all a loadame bollocks if ya ask me, and just a way to fill the void left by no calcio for the next week. Far too early too be speculating on such matters, and we need to keep focussed on that 4th spot, that is all that counts right now. Although having said that, how I'd love Pastore at Roma…
Five of our youngsters have been for the Italian Under 18's for the match against Slovenia, which will no doubt please Pocari: Pigliacelli (GK), Sabelli (DEF), Caprari, Ciciretti, Piscitella (FOR)
A '200 Gol di Francesco Totti' video from Sky Sport Italia has been added to the , well worth keeping.
I have a feeling La Nazionale will not be successful on Friday in Slovenia. I don't think the midfield is as good as it could be and the defence is a little bit shaky, unless Ranocchia is playing (I think he i should be the one we focus on, not Chiellini or Bonucci). Still think without De Rossi in the midfield we are at a disadvantage. If you're not going to call him up, do it for the friendly, not for the qualifier! I heard Prandelli might do the opposite and call him up for the friendly, which is just stupid in my opinion.
Anyways, the Totti 200 goals video is quite spectacular. I can't believe the video is 48 minutes in length, and it doesn't even include his goals in the CL, UEFA Cup/ Europa League, as well as national team goals. Grande Capitano!
Perrotta (2,5m) and Cassetti (1,8m) renew their contracts until 2012. Perrotta has the option to extend his contract until 2013. True to form, I can't see anything on the spanking new as of yet, at least nothing proper anyway with official documentation.
Rosella had not paid the company for the job, so they kept it offline. Jesus, if that wasn't so funny, I think I'd cry. Looking at the new website in more detail, I think Rosella may have been right this time not to pay them, and should in fact look for a refund. Its ridiculously slow and why such a site where people would want quick easy access is done in Flash is beyond me. I can see a the words 'financial press release: Perrotta' (and the same for Cassetti) across the top flash banner but i cant click on them or see any more info on it. Call me a fussy cnut if you want, but I would of thought the most important thing about a flashy new website (which doesn't function properly) is to provide quick and up-to-date news to the public. And that site would of cost a pretty penny too.
Yeh i've been following RCN a bit and you are all doing great stuff. Your site looks great, and I see your forum is doing well too (although I clearly can't read it). And great stuff with the pics of the players. But you still don't have a Norwegian flag regularly appearing in the Curva Sud (unlike an Irish tricolour) or an Ultra group named after you (same).
Thanks again for the ticket offer. No more plans this season I shouldn't think. May wait till the new season and the new 'era' (when the stadium will be renamed Stadio McDonalds'o, or somesuch). We must organise a meet up here on our site of all the regulars alright, but we've been saying that for years.
Daniele De Rossi’s representatives have sounded out Manchester United to establish whether the Premiershit leaders would consider an £18 million move for the Roma midfielder this summer.

My God, I read this and had to post it. I like the way it claims "both clubs have now been informed he is prepared to leave" without saying how exactly they have been informed. Where does this fucker get off thinking he is pissed off with life in the city? Yes, he was pissed off the reaction of his elbow in the Shakhtar game but it certainly doesn't mean he is harboring serious intentions of leaving the club and its sensationalist journalism at best to think such. Prick.
Posted a comment just now? Its possible, though, ain't it, Lupa? I mean they would own the club, so they can do what they want. But lets not open that can (cargo container) of worms again.
You are right. The website looks so Netscape and 2001. As much as I would hope the princess abstained from paying due to poor job, I am sure she was fully sober doing business in her usual way. Montali saved her of some embarrassment and paid the company when he became the capo.
The site is doing good, but the forum has lost it a bit. Since we opened the comments section on the site, the activity at the forum started to decrease. Haven't properly worked on it either, apart from a decent design.
Hahah. We've lost it over there too I see. There are two Italian-Norwegian brothers in Cueva Sud who sat up the Norwegian flag for every game. I saw it so often it became like any other Roma flag. Haven't paid attention lately. Can't compete with Irish... yet
Oh, the new era. I know you are just as skeptic to the Americans as DonSimon, although for different reasons, haha. Good to see you still keeping the spirit going, contro al calcio moderno. My starvation for success has allowed me to accept anything-but-rosella. But hey...
Yeah, the talks have going on forever now. Will the Arab league of this forum be coming? I'll come at all costs to enjoy sole bizzas with zhem
Exclusive: Manchester United & Real Madrid Target Daniele De Rossi Will Not Leave Roma - Former Striker Ruggiero Rizzitelli
Daniele De Rossi's long-term future lies with Roma despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United. Former Giallorossi striker Ruggiero Rizzitelli outlined to Goal.com the reasons why the midfielder will spurn an overseas move.
Notwithstanding the personal difficulties which have blighted him over the past three years, De Rossi intends to stay at the capital club. Furthermore, the incoming club owners would not contemplate the sale of a key member of the squad.
The Italy international retains the ambition of becoming the future Roma captain, taking over from Francesco Totti. He would therefore reject any advances from interested clubs in order to become a major power at Trigoria, according to Rizzitelli. His current contract expires in 2012 but Rizzitelli believes that his future at Roma extends far beyond that.
"The truth is De Rossi won't leave Roma. He is their Bandiera player, the future captain. He is already named as the new captain after Francesco Totti," he told Goal.com.
"De Rossi has already rejected Real Madrid in the past. Two years ago the club had asked for him, but he and [former Roma owners] the Sensi family said no because he is a Roman, a Romanista and he wants to end his career at Roma like Totti.
"His dream is to remain at Roma with the backing of the new owners and the promise of a strong team to challenge."
Rumours suggested that changes in the boardroom and the prospective takeover led by Thomas DiBenedetto's American consortium had destabilised the midfielder, who is concerned over how the move would affect the club and his own standing within the structure.
Rizzitelli sent a powerful reminder to the owners, telling them fans would not stand for a De Rossi sale. Plans are already in place to keep the current band of players together, of which the 27-year-old is considered the future leader.
"I think the problem with De Rossi were the recent events regarding the new ownership," he added.
"But once the new owners come in, they won't be thinking of selling De Rossi to Real Madrid as the Roma fans are expecting a new team, a strong side who can challenge for the league.
"If they sold him, the new owners would be starting off on the wrong foot.
"Plus, the fans at Trigoria would not allow the club to sell De Rossi."
Roma Tifosi demand success, not squad fragmentation
Born and bred in the Italian capital, De Rossi has endured recent tribulations in his life away from the pitch. The death of his father-in-law and divorce from his wife has led to speculation that he has grown weary with life in the city.
Furthermore his sporting stock is currently low after lashing out at Darijo Srna in a recent Champions League game. De Rossi faced criticism and received a temporary exclusion from Italy boss Cesare Prandelli following his UEFA ban, administered in the aftermath of i Lupi's Champions League last 16 exit at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Rizzitelli agrees with the code of ethics practice being adopted by la Nazionale, and he expects the Roma man will benefit from Prandelli's counsel rather than see it as a reason to be glum.
"I think this is the right thing and it's good for Prandelli to do this. He had something like this at Fiorentina too. The fundamental thing for champion players is to have respect for the opposition," the former Italy international said.
"De Rossi is a champion player, but even he has to be 'punished', so players will understand.
"It's the right thing to do and Prandelli did confirm he would do this when he became coach of the national side."

Stop a pasta e carboidrati, addio agli amati dolci, spazio a carni bianche, tacchino, bresaola.
lol, looking over on , lots of people giving out about Perrotta's and Cassetti's contract extensions, more so the former. I don't really have a problem with it. A while back I was probably against keeping Cassetti for another season but its not really a bad call. From what I can tell, both players agreed the same terms (Perrotta was on , new deal is 2,5, but this is before tax; Cassetti was and is now 1,7 bt), so no huge expense, and its only for another season (although Perrotta has an option of a second). Both are still only 33 (although Marco turns 34 in two months) and still have something to offer us I feel. While I can't argue that the current squad does a need a bit of an overhaul, and in an ideal world I'd like to bring in top a draw right-full and attacking-mid, its unlikely we'll been in a position to do radical changes to lots of positions. Both can be good squad players for us next season and have a part to play, providing we do look to bring in a few new (preferably youthful) faces to provide competition, as well as seeing the likes of Rosi and Greco step it up a little. Some of the pasting Perrotta gets is ridiculous at times... (cue Jamie)
is perhaps a more fair assessment of De Rossi's comments and the ridiculous rumours flying around in the english media that he wants to leave Roma.
, although almost certainly made up by some bored journalist, made me almost poo my pants with exhilaration.
Dates for the Coppa semi's have been released, we play Inter on Tuesday 19 April at 20.45.
I don't think I even need to click on that link to know the story you're talking about, threadmund. The contracts make perfect sense to me. The squad would benefit above all from strengthening from top down, as it were, rather than from bottom up. Extending those contracts has little impact on whether or not one also signs Pastore and Coentrao, if you will.
