Jeff, do you remember the match between Ireland and Georgia, by any chance? I happened to be there - it was a WC 2010 qualifier, and the match was tainted by a ridiculous penalty decision against us. But still, I'm not prejudiced or anything against the Irish (or people living there), although Robbie Keane has started to annoy me since that match.

I think gio was 6 too when he first started following Roma in the year they won the Scudetto, so I reckon he'll be delighted to have another from the class of '36 around. And keep up the good Henry banter. threddzo will be able to take most things for the next week or so after the rugby result yesterday and, anyway, the Irish get what they deserve after a penalty like that. A very lack-lustre first half from the boys and then a much better second half. Nice to see Rosi getting some minutes. I'd been wondering whether Monty might give him some time in that position - where Spags started him. I'm sure he will end up being a fullback, but given Monty's return to the 4-2-3-1, our lack of wide-players, and the fact that it might give Rosi a chance to get a bit more confidence playing in a position where his every mistake is less likely to be so cruelly punished, it seems to me a pretty sensible choice. He did make a few poor decisions even today, at both ends of the pitch, but he will need time. Pizza was playing injured, apparently, and it showed and without his controlling things we always look a bit ragged.

Interesting that Totti seems to be playing a bit better now that the formation's changed and his role has changed. Turns out Chewna might have been right all along. Who'd a thunk it?

And nice to see Menez get the full 90 today. He didn't manage to do anything decisive but I thought he kept trying hard and asking questions. Vooch might have been able to turn one or other of those opportunities into a goal, but Menez worked hard and sometimes one just has to accept it isn't a player's day. It's also a new role for him and it will take him time to grow into it. Taddei's movement in the build-up to Totti's second goal was crucial and exactly the kind of run I don't think Menez realises he has to make from that position.
