Today I read that Juan, Riise and Pizarro could also leave so whoever becomes the new coach has some work cut out. For the owners also.
About Mexes, well if he leaves it's sad since he is a fan favorite and gave always his heart to play for this jersey. I won't blame him either for leaving. Who is to blame? Our incompetent management. I'll be glad if they leave. Bad management decisions, we are in dire straits. Thank god for Unicredit keeping us afloat or we won't be even at 6th place in the standings.
So who can we look for to replace whom? Subotic won't leave. I guess the whole Dortmund team will stay together for a long time (same as Barca) so who arew e looking for? Kjaer perhaps since Wolfsburg is performing badly and he wants to consider his options. Astori is one player I'll be looking for. Same goes for Mussacchio from Villareal. Both are young and are still growing. Canini i'd pass on immediately, not good IMO.
In either way if some players decide to leave (Mexes, Vooch, Menez, Juan, Pizarro) next year is going to be a rebuild year. What I also want to see us do is to give some youth players a chance. Scardina, Pettinari etc.. We got good youth players but they are never giving a chance, take that gamble for once.
Good news perhaps? According to this Mexes has NOT signed a contract with Milan. He wants to know what the plans are from the new owners. For now he is thinking about Roma and Roma only
Thats the news I wanted to hear, Jimmy. Great stuff. Mexes has not signed with Milan nor has he even agreed terms with them in principal. I'm not sure if it also means that Milan haven't made their offer? The offer could be on the table for him to sign whenever he chooses, but its good to hear he is not in a rush to decide anything and is just focusing on Roma and will wait until the ownership issue is resolved. Where is our management in all of this? Why aren't they coming out and denying any contact with Milan? Why aren't they getting in touch with Mexes' agent to ask he wants to sign a new deal?
is Il Romanista's piece on Mexes not having agreed anything.
Where is all this talk of a possible mass exodus coming from? Whatever happens with Mexes, why would we want to see a big clear-out of sorts? For one thing, as Jamie has said a few times, the club can't really afford a mass exodus and rebuilding this summer, new owners or not, as a lot of our key players are pushing on in years and we already need to reinforce in areas like full-back, goalkeeper and midfield without losing a host of key players like Vooch, Menez, Juan, Pizarro etc. As it stands now, if we do qualify for the CL and want to be competitive next season, we need to strengthen on our existing aging squad now rather than losing players. Vucinic does not want to leave. He is happy in Rome and as we can see from his last two games is working hard for the team again. Menez needs to follow suit. Also, the players can't be distracted by that kind of talk now, they need to focus on each game as it comes, starting with Lecce, and focus on that 4th spot. Montella certainly has his hands full.
Oh boy! I don't know what to think of this! I honestly saw this coming when he said if he left Madrid he would go to England or Italy. I hate the fucker!
From football-italia:
The Corriere dello Sport claims that Roma could be a possible destination for Jose Mourinho if he leaves Real Madrid.
The tactician’s future in Spain is in doubt after so far losing the battle with Barcelona for La Liga supremacy.
Mourinho fuelled the fire over talk of a summer move yesterday by suggesting he’d return to the Premiershit or Serie A should he leave his present role.
“If Real Madrid were to sack me, I wouldn't go and coach Malaga,” Mourinho noted. “I would go to a big club in England or Italy.”
Former sides Chelsea and Inter were instantly paired as options for the Portuguese maestro, but Roma are now also being tentatively mentioned.
The Giallorossi are seemingly just months away from being taken over by American businessman Thomas DiBenedetto.
Although it is believed that the prospective new owner would want Carlo Ancelotti to replace Vincenzo Montella at the end of the season, Mourinho may now also be on his list.

That mass exodus is just some BS from the Italian newspapers. I was saying it more of a what if scenario if it happens. First the new owners and then wait what's going to happen.
Mourinho as coach? I'm all for it. Coach you love to hate.. Will get this team on the right track again. See what he did with Porto how he build them up. But my ideal coach is his former assistent, Villas Boas. Sorry Ancelotti.
I don't know much about Villas Boas. I've seen his name pop up a good bit over on RA. My preference would always be for an Italian coach. Spalletti first, then Ancelotti. Of course, I'd take Mourinho in a heartbeat. Sure ye'd be mad not too, like, prick and all he may be. Its sounds like just pure waffle though, starting with him saying “I would go to a big club in England or Italy" (if i were to leave Real), while at the same time we're also on the lookout on the coach at the end of the season, so some smart journalist put two and two together.
The Moaninho whispers were inevitable - I'm only surprised the journalists have managed to resist this long. It's the perfect notion with which to fill a few lurid column inches.
The mass clear-out stories are linked to the rather more credible whispers that players like Menez and Vucinic are less than entirely happy at the club - so, too, Pizarro and Juan.
The management are in no position to release any statements about Mexes's talks with Milan. How could they be? They're also quite clearly in no position to offer him a new contract at this juncture. Being impoverished rather limits one options at the best of times; being for sale, rather more so. If Mexes leaves it will be because it suits him to leave - and it's easy to see any number of reasons why that might be the case. It will be his decision, then, and, however defensible, one for which he will have to take responsibility. If he leaves, much more of the responsibility will be Ranieri's than Rosella's, to my mind.
Exclusive: Chelsea Manager Carlo Ancelotti Is 'In Negotiations' With Roma's New Owners - Ruggiero Rizzitelli
Former Roma star Ruggiero Rizzitelli has told Goal.com that Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is already in talks with the Italian club's prospective new owners, following rumours that the coach is set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Rizzitelli told Goal.com International: "I believe there are negotiations with Ancelotti and Roma already. The new owners are negotiating with Ancelotti.
"But it all depends on how much money is available. If Ancelotti comes to Roma, he expects a competitive side.
"So we have to see how much cash the owners are willing to provide for him as he will need the money to bring in important players.
"It depends on the money, and qualification into the Champions League. I believe there are negotiations with Ancelotti."
The former striker added: "Ancelotti is a coach who earns big money, and so it's normal that he would have to reduce his demands to come to Roma. The club cannot permit themselves to spend crazy money for the coach.
"But Ancelotti could reduce his wages on the basis Roma would have to guarantee they would invest money on important players."

How on earth could the club make a credible statement on what has or hasn't been going on in private between Mexes and Milan? That's logically absurd. "We really hope it's not true and that he's gonna stay" would, no doubt, come across as compelling and authoritative.
Given Mexes's comments about wanting to wait and see, the club can't do anything about it. I should also imagine that the financial stakes are incomparable - a one year extension for a Cassetti compared to a four- or five-year deal for Mexes?
I've accepted the fact that Mexes will not be a Roma player next season. It's sad that he's leaving, but I don't blame him. There's just something wrong at the club. Something has changed, and players want out. It won't surprise me if Mirko left as well.
Edzo, the sale of the club is in the final stages at the moment. Unicredit is unlikely to make major long-term decisions (like resigning Mexes to a large four year contract) at this juncture. New ownership will make major decisions when they take over the team. Until then expect the club to do nothing more than tread water.

True Stef, but this has been going on since like last summer, say. Even in January just gone, UniCredit told Rosella to renew his contract, so they were willing to commit to it.
What has been going on since last summer? You said yourself that you don't know. All that we here is noise. Nothing will be resolved until the new owners are in control. I suspect Mexes recognizes that it is willing to wait for a little while longer.
