And that right there is the problem. My biggest issue with that post is the fact that a midfielder "can't play defense". EVERY midfielder should be adequate/competent in playing defense. That's my issue with the "DM" position. It creates laziness in a system where ALL midfielders should be playing defense and pressing as well as playing the game to their strengths, even if it is attacking football. That's complete crap that a midfielder doesn't know how to play defense. The classic midfielder plays defense, offense and is good at both. If you're a midfielder who only plays offense or attacks, then just be a forward.

The DM position is essential to the modern game. If we don't figure this out, the CL will be extremely difficult for us. Have 3 Cbs though has helped our lack of attack filtering.

Caceres in bianconero fino al 2016

Martin Caceres ora è a tutti gli effetti un giocatore della Juventus. La società bianconera ha esercitato oggi l'opzione per l'acquisizione a titolo definitivo del difensore uruguaiano. Caceres ha siglato un contratto quadriennale, che lo legherà alla Juventus sino al 30 giugno 2016.

Official: Giovinco to Juventus

Sebastian Giovinco’s much-anticipated return to Juventus has been confirmed, as the Bianconeri announce his transfer on their official website.

This week saw Juve’s advanced negotiations with Parma for the 25-year-old made public, and whilst Beppe Marotta and the player’s agent spoke of the move’s close completion, Parma’s announcement on Tuesday of the transfer proved premature.

However, Thursday evening’s statement on Juve’s website has confirmed the completion of their purchase of the Gialloblu’s 50 per cent of the player’s contract.

“Juventus announces that it has resolved in its favour the agreement with Parma relating to the playing rights of footballer Sebastian Giovinco.

“The transfer was resolved for a fee set at €11m to be paid by Juventus over the next three seasons.

“The contract signed with the player is in effect until June 30, 2015.”

Juventus originally sold this 50 per cent share of the player to Parma for approximately €3.75m two years ago, whilst the decision to re-sign him has generated debate among fans and critics alike.

Official: Lucio signs for Juventus

Less than a week on from rescinding his contract with Inter, Brazilian centre-back Lucio agrees a deal to join rivals Juventus.

The 34-year-old cancelled his contract with the Nerazzurri last Friday and was otherwise expected to move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.

However, reports quickly linked him with Juventus and suggested that a deal was agreed within hours of his departure from San Siro.

Confirmation came this morning as the player arrived in Turin to conclude negotiations and have his medical and upon completion of both, was confirmed as a Bianconero via a brief statement on Juve’s official website.

“Lucio is a Juventus player. The Brazilian defender arrives on a free and has signed a two-year contract, binding him to Juventus until June 30, 2014.”

This confirmation was quickly followed by an interview with the defender.

“I’m happy, it’s a new experience, a new chapter in my life and I’m now looking forward,” Lucio told Juventus Channel.

“The past will stay with me, but I’m aiming to enjoy success again.

“I think the most important thing is today and tomorrow. Yesterday is already history and I believe that the motivation needs to be right.

“You have to train every and play with the right mentality, which is to do your best to win.

“Juventus have always been a strong side, I also said that when I came to Italy for the first time, Juve will always be Juve.

“It’s clear their motivation is greater with the new stadium. The support is incredibly strong and certainly pushes the team to go forward with greater enthusiasm. It’s definitely an added weapon to Juve’s armoury.”

Lucio rescinds Juventus contract

Juventus have confirmed that they have rescinded the contract of Lucio – just a matter of months following his arrival.

The Brazilian veteran was netted on a free transfer in the summer after his Inter deal was also scrapped.

Lucio, 34, made only four appearances for the Turin giants – one in Serie A, two in the Champions League and one in the Italian Super Cup Final.

Llorente to join Juventus

Juventus can confirm that Spanish international striker Fernando Llorente will join the club on 1 July 2013.

The 27-year-old has agreed terms on a four-year deal and will move to Turin when his Athletic Bilbao contract expires at the end of the current season.

Born in Pamplona on 26 February 1985, Llorente progressed through the Basque outfit’s academy ranks before being loaned out to feeder club Baskonia during the 2003/04 campaign.

Bolstered by a season’s first team experience, the frontman, nicknamed El Rey León (The Lion King), soon became a permanent fixture in Athletic Bilbao’s strikeforce.

In nine seasons at San Mamés, Llorente has made 334 appearances and scored 104 goals in all competitions. The striker’s best return came during the 2011/12 campaign, when his 29 strikes helped Los Leones to the Copa Del Rey and Europa League finals.

A fearsome aerial presence coupled with excellent close control has earned Llorente international recognition with his native Spain. He was included in the triumphant World Cup 2010 and European Championship 2012 squads, and has notched 7 goals in 21 caps.
