Think Dzeko is Juve best chance of getting a top CF, as he'll probably be the odd man out at City if they sign Van Persie, which seems fairly probable.
If Juve don't end up with RVP I'd imagine Tevez would be a possibility, but I hear Milan are making a push for him. Seems to me Juve are very high on Cavani but I see that deal as highly improbable, I don't see Napoli giving him up very easily. Suarez remains a possibility but I haven't heard much about him lately.
Juventus have confirmed the double signing of Udinese midfielders Mauricio Isla and Kwadwo Asamoah, both on co-ownership agreements.
Terms for such a deal were reached a few weeks ago, with both versatile midfielders then soon after having medicals in Turin.
The Bianconeri have now confirmed both players’ arrivals at the club, with publication on their official website of the finer points to the transfers.
For 50 per cent of 24-year-old Isla's contract, Juve have paid €9.4m, whilst 50 per cent of 23-year-old Asamoah’s registration has cost them €9m.
Also as part of the deal, youngster Cristian Pasquato has moved in the opposite direction on a co-ownership basis, for a fee of €1.5m.
Asamoah is the second Ghanaian to play for the Old Lady, after Stephen Appiah, whilst Isla links up with international colleague Arturo Vidal at the Juventus Stadium.
Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that the following agreements have been finalised with Udinese Calcio S.p.A.:
- definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Kwadwo Asamoah for a consideration of € 18 million to be paid in 3 years. At the same time, Juventus and Udinese signed a player sharing agreement (ex art. 102 bis N.O.I.F.) related to the same player for a consideration of € 9 million to be paid by Udinese in 3 years;
- definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Mauricio Anibal Isla for a consideration of € 18.8 million to be paid in 3 years. At the same time, Juventus and Udinese signed a player sharing agreement (ex art. 102 bis N.O.I.F.) related to the same player for a consideration of € 9.4 million to be paid by Udinese in 3 years;
- definitive disposal of the registration rights of the player Cristian Pasquato for a consideration of € 3 million to be paid in 3 years. At the same time, Juventus and Udinese signed a player sharing agreement (ex art. 102 bis N.O.I.F.) related to the same player for a consideration of € 1.5 milion to be paid by Juventus in 3 years. The operation generates for the financial year 2012/2013 a positive economic effect of about € 1.5 million.
Two further transfers involving youngsters from the club's youth academy have also been concluded today:
- Defender Nazareno Belfasti, born in 1993, has joined Modena on loan - Goalkeeper Timothy Nocchi, born in 1990, has moved to Juve Stabia on a loan deal with the option to purchase half of his registration rights
Less than a week on from rescinding his contract with Inter, Brazilian centre-back Lucio agrees a deal to join rivals Juventus.
The 34-year-old cancelled his contract with the Nerazzurri last Friday and was otherwise expected to move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
However, reports quickly linked him with Juventus and suggested that a deal was agreed within hours of his departure from San Siro.
Confirmation came this morning as the player arrived in Turin to conclude negotiations and have his medical and upon completion of both, was confirmed as a Bianconero via a brief statement on Juve’s official website.
“Lucio is a Juventus player. The Brazilian defender arrives on a free and has signed a two-year contract, binding him to Juventus until June 30, 2014.”
This confirmation was quickly followed by an interview with the defender.
“I’m happy, it’s a new experience, a new chapter in my life and I’m now looking forward,” Lucio told Juventus Channel.
“The past will stay with me, but I’m aiming to enjoy success again.
“I think the most important thing is today and tomorrow. Yesterday is already history and I believe that the motivation needs to be right.
“You have to train every and play with the right mentality, which is to do your best to win.
“Juventus have always been a strong side, I also said that when I came to Italy for the first time, Juve will always be Juve.
“It’s clear their motivation is greater with the new stadium. The support is incredibly strong and certainly pushes the team to go forward with greater enthusiasm. It’s definitely an added weapon to Juve’s armoury.”
Juventus signed Andrea Pirlo last summer in similar circumstances, after his release from rivals Milan.
Although scoring goals was distributed evenly throughout the team based on Contes system, what happened to the 15 million Euro man Matri? I thought he was going to have a 20+ goal season? Was that another brialliant prediction by The Man himself?? Matri did miss about 15 clear opportunities on net, if that's any consolation for the stat whores here. What a waste of 15 mil! Next year won't be any better either. On the latest transfer front, 28 year old Van Persie is going to make 8 mil/season? Is that another joke? That's a huge gamble on Marotta's part, let's hope it pays off but I don't see RVP flourishing in Serie A. I want 25+ goals in Serie A and some clutch goal scoring in the CL.... Get my money worth.
No one said Matri would scored 20+ goals, just that he's capable of doing so.
I agree though 8 mil is a little steep for a 28 year old whose probably going to sign a 4-5 year contract. But if things don't workout I'm sure we can offload him to Barca, Real or City.
I would honestly rather spend the RVP money on Balotelli (not the wages, just the transfer fee).
Why did he drop Matri?? Matri was invisible the second half of the season. Sure he had a brace 1 game and possibly a game winner but anything after that he's been garbage. He's missed many opportunities and didn't play well tin March-May. He was marked out of games, losing the ball, missing sitters, etc. Conte had every right to drop that bum. Let's hope Juve offload him and Iaquinta for some quick cash. Has Boriello turned a corner?? If Juve grab RVP they will be instant title contenders although that defense could use some help. I'm not confident with Licky-Barzagli-Bonucci-Chiellini or Licky-Barzagli-Chiellini-DeCeglie. Juve missed the boat on Balzaretti. I always thought highly of him and he would've been great at Juve. No reason they should've offloaded a decent player. He's better than what they got now. Don't worry about Lucio. I thought that was a decent pickup for depth purposes. They are playing 3 competitions and Chiellini can't stay healthy for 1 season. He misses at least 10 games a season. I'm sure he would be out more often playing in 2-3 competitions. Time to get some youngsters in there!
Juventus are hoping to capitalise on the hesitancy at Manchester City over Robin van Persie by offering to make the Arsenal captain the highest paid player in their history.
City will bid around £20 million for Van Persie but Roberto Mancini has been told that he must first ease the wage bill and move on some of his other strikers, creating a small window of opportunity for the Serie A champions. Van Persie, who on Wednesday announced his decision not to sign a new contract at Arsenal, is understood to be interested in the option of playing in Italy, particularly given the resurgence in Europe last season of Italian teams.
Juventus are willing to break their own wage structure by paying Van Persie close to the £200,000-a-week that would be on offer at City, but they will be more reluctant to pay a transfer fee above £15 million. That could create an added dilemma for Arsenal, who would then have the choice of holding Van Persie to his contract for another season, selling to a Premiershit rival or accepting a lower fee to allow a move to Italy.
Van Persie, who also interests Manchester United, has been identified as Mancini’s top transfer target this summer but the club are first focusing on easing their own wage bill. A deal was reached on Friday for Wayne Bridge to go on loan to Brighton, with the vast majority of his £90,000-a-week wages still being paid by City. Bridge featured sporadically for City over the past three years and may face another former club in pre-season when Chelsea face Brighton on Aug 4. That could mean lining up against former England captain John Terry, whose hand he refused to shake before a match back in 2010.
Talks are also progressing over the permanent transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor to Tottenham. Adebayor‘s current contract at City is worth £170,000 a week, but it is understood that Tottenham are ready to make a £4 million upfront payment to the player if he agrees a deal to remain at White Hart Lane until 2016. This would help mitigate his wage cut, although Tottenham would then still also make Adebayor the highest paid player in their history on a deal worth around £110,000 a week.
Completing the Adebayor deal is likely to be key for City in allowing Mancini to make a formal bid for Van Persie. City are mindful of Uefa’s incoming Financial Fair-Play rules and the need to reduce annual losses which stood at £197 million in their most recently published accounts.
