Well the Juve teams that were getting to CL Final in the 90s were always packed with them, so I don't see that as a bad thing.

I don't understand why we're selling isla... I fully expect he'll return to his udinese days form, and conte rotates his this team enough for him to get decent playing time in all three tournaments. He's only 24, and I rate him higher than Zuniga and kolarov. Bad move to sell him to inter.

Assuming there isn't anything going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, I would have given him another season to see if he regained form.

Getting a proper pre-season in makes a big difference to any player.

Watched the first half of Juve-Inter.

Nothing terribly interesting in it.

How good Juve looked at different points through the half was largely down to how well the forwards were doing at the time. Tevez and Vucinic started terribly - not taking up good positions, trying fancy flicks instead of just taking the ball in and generally not retaining the ball long enough for Juve to get their wingbacks and midfield runners up into good positions. Once Tevez and Vucinic got their act together and started to retain possession, Juve looked alright.

Defensively, I thought Chiellini and Caceres were making it too easy for Inter to isolate Palacio one-on-on with Bonucci. One of them should have been back tighter to Bonucci at any given time. Since Chiellini was trying to get tight to Alvarez, Caceres is the one who really needed to be staying deeper and narrower.

I expect the Lazio team to be something like:



Think this game is likely to come down to who comes out on top between Lazio's wingers and Juve's wingbacks.

The pace and movement of Candreva and Lulic will be awkward for Juve to deal with and could well lead to there being issues for Juve of struggling to find the balance between playing a back three - and being left exposed three-on-three - and playing a back five - with the wingbacks being pinned back and Juve being left with little or no width higher up the pitch.

Be interesting to see who is braver between Petkovic and Conte. Will either of them be bold enough to ask his wide players go beyond his opponent and risk being caught out of position or will they play safe? Or will they pick one side to be aggressive on and look to keep one side of the pitch closed down?

Juve need to be careful not to let Lazio get Klose one-on-one against the middle centre-back. Juve's wider centre-backs played too wide or too high against Inter and made it too easy for them to isolate Palacio against Bonucci.

I'm not going to pick what my Juve team would be because I don't know enough about what condition the players are in just now - and there is every chance that the team in the better physical condition will win this game.

One thing I would be doing if I was Juve is playing one forward very high up as a CF and have the other playing behind, rather than having them play side by side.

You need to get a forward making probing movements and threatening to move behind the Lazio defence to open up space between defence and midfield.

If you just have twin forwards, both playing with their back to goal, it'll be relatively easy for Lazio to stay tight to them, squeeze up the pitch and stay really compact.

Also, if you play one striker behind the other, you might be able to drag Ledesma back into having to mark the deeper forward, which would make life easier for Juve's midfield.

Meant to be a pretty decent crowd for this one. Was looking like being 50,000+ last I heard.

I think Juve is going to pretty much be:

I think in the future, Conte might play a 4-3-3, at least in certain games, with Pepe and Tevez as wingers. But Pepe just started training again, and Tevez isn't yet in the type of form Conte needs him to be to play as a winger.

I think it's prett much certain Vucinic will start rather than Llorente, especially give that Llorente travelled to Ecuador in midweek.

I'd also be surprised if Barzagli started.

I'm curious as to what way round Bonucci and Ogbonna play if Barzagli is out.

Everything about the styles of the two of them says Bonucci should be in the middle and Ogbonna on the right, but some people seem terrified of playing a left-footed defender on the right side.
