D'Ago welcomes Juve talk

Udinese midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino is flattered to be linked with Juventus, but insists he is yet to sign for the Turin giants.

The 27-year-old, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, has enjoyed a great season with the Zebrette.

D'Agostino scored 11 goals in 36 Serie A appearances, attracting the attention of Marcello Lippi who called him up to the Italy squad.

When told of Juventus' interest while on international duty at Coverciano, he replied: “So much the better, Juve are a great team.

“From reading the newspapers I feel very close to Juve, but I still have not signed anything. If I were to go to Juve it would be the choice of the club seeing as they have yet to decide on a trainer,â€

I'm starting to think the reason we weren't buying any good players was because Ranieri didn't want them. We just bought players to suit his style of game. Where as now we're just buying great players and worrying about the formation and tactics later.

Anyways, hats off to the management. If D'Agostino becomes official, that's 3 huge signings before mid june.

It was pretty clear that Ranieri opted for Poulsen instead of Alonso. Sissoko was also very much a Ranieri-choice. We have every reason to think that all transfers from last season were due to Ranieri's demands, combined with our management's insistence of being cheap. Glad we're spending wisely this time.

Marotta close to Juve

Juventus are in talks with Beppe Marotta about moving to Turin and becoming the club's new director general.

Marotta currently performs the role for Sampdoria and is highly regarded in the world of Italian football.

The Bianconeri want someone who is proven in managing a football club's relationship with the media.

Juventus have a very clear business structure. Jean Claude Blanc takes care of the finances while Alessio Secco coordinates the club's transfer policy.

Marotta has been known to fill all three positions at Sampdoria and the worry is he could step on someone else's toes in Turin.

For example, he was responsible for bringing Antonio Cassano back to Italy after a disappointing spell at Real Madrid.

At Juventus, such a task would fall under the remit of Secco, who is the club's director of sport.

Reports suggest Marotta met with Blanc yesterday and they came to an agreement that he would also have a say on the players Juventus buy.

However, he will not be involved in negotiations on the transfer market, which will be left to Secco.

According to the Italian Press, an announcement making the move official will arrive today or at some point this weekend.

Goal.com suggests we're going to give them De Ceglie on a co-ownership deal + Palloucci permanently + 8m euros for D'Agostino. It should all be done by tomorrow.

I'm not sure what I think of it. I would loved to have De Ceglie as a backup LB, but now I'm certain that Molinaro is going to stay. Criscito and De Ceglie would have been great for the LB spot. Molinaro isn't attacking enough for a 4-3-1-2 formation. On the other hand, D'Agostino would be a great signing, and if we can also fill the void at LB, we should be good.
