Italian football, on the whole, is rubbish right now. The fact that a Ranieri-led Juve is in second place proves how bad our league is currently. I wonder when an Italian team will next make it to a CL semifinal.

Today's 2-2 draw away to rock-bottom Reggina saw Juventus lose second place to Milan. Following the match, coach Claudio Ranieri commented on his side's poor performance and remained defiant when he was asked about his future.

"We played poorly in the first half hour, but after their opening goal we reacted well," he said to Sky Sport Italia. "The match was intense and hard-fought until the end. We are giving our all at the moment, although undoubtedly lately we have struggled, we are paying for the Champions League preliminaries.

"However, we have recovered players like [Mauro] Camoranesi and [Cristiano] Zanetti. We didn't win, but we showed desire. We came back twice. Everyone gave their all, I can't say anything against the team.

"The penalty on [Alessandro] The Waterboy? I even heard the contact from the bench, but I don't want to protest, mistakes are human."

On his and the team's future, he said: "I will not leave Juventus, and I will not do the same as Didier Deschamps, who left Juventus because he disagreed with Juventus' project.

"That foolishness is the behaviour of a young person, I did the same when I was young but not now… Juventus gave me a project of five years to come back at a high levelâ€

Ranieri is really asking for the sack. I just cannot get myself to love this team with the same passion as I used to. Something has to change.

Wow, big shocker, we concede another 2 goals to a bottom tabled team. It's fucking pathetic to think that we can't keep REGGINA off the score sheet. I'm glad I didn't wake up this morning, there's nothing to play for anymore.

The management was saying this 3 years ago and I was fine with that. But, for Ranieri to come out now and say that it will take another 5 years to get where we were then that's unacceptable. If he can't bring together a competitive side with the resources, money, and talent at his disposal then I don't know what he's doing here.

Soccer federation: Juve to play in empty stadium

ROME (AP) - The Italian soccer federation has upheld a ruling ordering Juventus to play its next Serie A home match in an empty stadium as punishment for racist insults hurled by fans at Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli. An Italian sports judge ruled last week that Juventus must play against Lecce in an empty stadium on May 3. Balotelli, an Italian of Ghanaian descent, was racially abused during a 1-1 draw at Turin's Olympic stadium earlier this month. Juventus apologized for the racist abuse but appealed the ruling, maintaining Balotelli and other players were booed at many other matches and the Turin-based club was being singled out for punishment.

Nothing new there, then.
