Fuck, how much harder do they want to make a linesman's job? He has to look for the moment of contact on the ball, watch for a multiple number of players crossing into onside/offside territory, remember which players were offside if they do not contest the ball but a player does who was onside initially, as well as being able to call offside if a head or a hand is nearer to the goal? Jesus...
