For our situation, VdV is ideal. Sure sneijder would be a better option, but van is more affordable, and as Dejan said, he done wonders in the bundesliga which as we know isn't a weak league.

There are reports that we have raised our loan offer for Sneijder from 5m to 7m with an option to buy for 12m at the end of the season. I don't understand why we don't go and buy him outright when we are willing to offer 7m for loan. Then again the news is from Gazette which previously said we had already reached a loan agreement with Real long time back.

As Lomba says, VDV is more of a second striker than a no.10.He would be ideal for our 4-3-3 but not for the trequartista position. But getting VDV is better than getting nobody.

Inter Milan are closing in on the capture of Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder, according to reports in Italy. The playmaker has made 51 league appearances - netting 11 times - since joining the Madridistas in 2007.

However, following the expensive acquisitions of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso, Real are open to offers for Dutch quintet Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Arjen Robben, Roysten Drenthe and Ruud van Nistelrooy, while Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has already joined AC Milan.

Sneijder - who has been capped 52 times by his country - has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Inter Milan. And it is the latter who are reportedly in pole position to snare his signing, despite the Nerazzurri struggling to meet Real's valuation of the player.

The Dutchman is currently on international duty with the Netherlands, who take on Fabio Capello's England in Amsterdam on Wednesday night. However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, talks between Inter and Real are continuing in the player's absence.

And the San Siro giants are believed to be close to agreeing a €7 million deal to take Sneijder on loan for the season, with the option to make the move permanent for an added €13 million next summer.

Dejan, dont be impressed by what an agent or a player says at this point in time. It could be the truth, but it could not.. I'll wait till I see the new trequartista before I make a judgement. Surely it would be disappointing not to get Sneijder at this point...

I normally take everything with a pinch of salt but I see little point of him making this statement for any other intention. The Madrid official statement saying they don't see any reason why the should sell him was obviously to get all they could up to 25 million, otherwise, they would've said he was unsellable. But when a player flat out says they don't want to go to another club, would you even want him here after saying that? Let alone there being only a very, very small chance he was going to arrive in the first place?

The season starts in 9 days and I, for one, am starting to get a little nervous about anyone coming at all which is going to be a massive blow for us.

Add me to that list Dejan. I have been saying this since I saw the game against Club America and we will definitely suffer if we don't get the creative midfielder Mourinho has been asking for such a long time.

Moratti had to wait till the Super Cup to decide we need a trequartista and probably that will cost us in the end.

Inter offer £21.5m for Gourcuff

After Wesley Sneijder rejected any move away from Real Madrid, Inter have reportedly made a firm £21.5m offer for Yoann Gourcuff.

Dutchman Sneijder had emerged as the favourite to fill the trequartista role, but today he shot down that possibility.

Gourcuff piace all'Inter. Questo non è più un mistero ormai per nessuno. Piace a Mourinho e soddisfa il desiderio (implacabile) di Moratti di rifarsi sui cugini rossoneri. Mettere a nudo (ancora una volta) i limiti sul mercato di Galliani & C. è e rimane un'esca irresistibile per il numero uno nerazzurro. Che ci ha pensato e ripensato. Ma alla fine ha deciso. Almeno per quest'anno. Sarà SNEIJDER il trequartista della nuova Inter targata Mourinho. Non credete alle dichiarazioni di facciata dell'olandese e del suo procuratore. L'affare è fatto.

C'è un'intesa di massima tra Inter e Real Madrid, manca solo la firma del giocatore. A Florentino Perez andranno 8.5 milioni di euro subito e 10.5 a giugno 2010, quando l'Inter riscatterà in via definitiva il giocatore. L'olandese sembra essersi convinto proprio in queste ore del progetto nerazzurro ed è pronto, tra pochi giorni, ad apporre la firma su un contratto che lo legherà all'Inter fino al 2013. 3,7 milioni di euro all'anno e nelle mani di Mourinho un altro, grandissimo, fuoriclasse.

Inter Milan tightlipped over mega bid for Bordeaux's Gourcuff

Inter Milan are tightlipped on reports they've made a bid for Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.

The AC Milan reject is said to be the subject of a £22 million offer from Inter, according to Le Parisien.

For now, Inter insist they won't comment on any transfer plans until sports director Marco Branca returns to his desk next week.

Anyone know where this guy is?

The guy, as any other Italian, would be on holiday at this point in time Dejan. Ferragosto (15th August) for Italians is more sacred than Easter or Christmas.
I'll keep insisting that Sneijder will be our new trequartista. We'll see if I'll be right in the end.

Wesley Sneijder, nazionale olandese del Real Madrid, si allontana dall’Inter.

Il centrocampista ex-Ajax, è infatti uscito allo scoperto dichiarando: «Non so niente di nessuna trattativa e sono felice di restare a Madrid. Ci sono tanti giocatori fantastici, ma io non ho paura. La stagione è lunga».

Il giocatore ha quindi continuato, "abbassando" un po’ la mira: «Avere problemi per i Mondiali con la mia nazionale è un rischio che potrei correre, però ripeto, per ora la priorità è restare a Madrid. Ma in due settimane tutto può cambiare».

«Ho sentito che Mourinho mi considera la sua prima scelta – ha concluso l’orange - e sono molto contento. E’ un grande allenatore e allena una grande squadra. Se decidessi di lasciare Madrid, l’Inter sarebbe una bella opzione».

L’Inter è sempre ferma alla sua proposta del prestito oneroso con diritto di riscatto per un valore totale di 20 milioni di euro. Attenzione però al Chelsea di Ancelotti. Sneijder è infatti l’obiettivo numero due dopo Ribery, e da quanto si mormora, il club inglese è pronto ad acquistare subito per 18 milioni di euro il cartellino del madrileno.

It's interesting, I think, that VdV got the nod for the Dutch in their 4-3-3. I much prefer Sneijder, but VdV's much more comfortable, I think, in that formation (or, at least, in that position in that formation). Presumably Mourinho's got his eye on the rombo to get the best out of your front two and so Sneijder's the man but I guess there's still a chance he thinks he can play Eto'o down the channel and Milito through the middle and VdV down the left would suit that shape much better.
