Future News: Inter hire Jose Mourinho lookalike Ted Flangies

Following the failed appointment of youth team coach Andrea Stramaccioni as Inter's caretaker manager, the club announced that Canadian meteorologist Ted Flangies has been hired on a five-year deal to take charge of the struggling squad. Flangies, hired solely for his striking resemblance to former Inter manager Jose Mourinho, claims he has never watched a football match in his life.

"Finding a manager that can live up to Mourinho has been difficult," said Inter owner Massimo Moratti. "We have tried men with great knowledge of the game, but they have all failed. So, we found a person who looks exactly like Mourinho. Seriously, it's scary how much he looks like Jose. Also, he has an innate distrust of UNICEF. He's perfect."

Flangies will be Inter's sixth manager since Mourinho left the club after winning the treble in 2010 and despite his lack of experience, the players are still excited by the new leadership.

"I saw him [Flangies] in the hall and I thought it was the real Mourinho," midfielder Wesley Sneijder excitedly told reporters. "To be honest, I feel more confident already. Now if they can just hire a Rafa Benitez lookalike for him to make fun of, we will surely start winning trophies again."

Flangies, meanwhile, is less certain of himself. He told the press: "I'm just supposed to say that I'm 'special' and argue with everyone I meet, but who does that? I don't know about this, you guys."

It is believed that Chelsea are already preparing a £170 million package to woo Flangies away from Inter.

This is all I wanted for this last part of the season. Ranieri shouldn't be completely blamed for what has happened, but it was evident that there was no way it could have ended well with him. Further to that, I learnt today that for the past 3-4 months, the players used to train for 60mins. sessions instead of the traditional minimum 90mins...this was quite a shock and one really can understand why our team was always so athletically miserable. I don't know how and why Ranieri came up with this brilliant idea...but this on it's own is enough for a sacking IMO.

Stramaccioni is a very good coach, a good comunicator with his lads and a very good leader of his group. He is usually very precise on the details which is something I think we've been missing for quite some time. He likes good flowing offensive football. I've watched the Primavera closely in these last 2 games of the NextGen, and I was particularly fascinated about 2 simple things he's done in both matches. Against Marseille, after we scored the 2-0, he kept on shouting 'keep attacking, do not lower the defensive line, try to score more!' (one doesn't see much of this in Italian football) ...then against Ajax, in the last 10 mins of the second half when we were down to 10 men, he saw his team panicking and throwing the ball as far as possible to gain time. He told them 'I want your heads high, play with your heads high...we are Inter, we play with our heads high'. Two simple things..but they both are important for his players.

P.S. Today the squad returned to a 90min. session workout...

He looks like a very talented guy from what I have read. I really hope he can do well till the end of the season and we decide to continue with him next year but if things don't go well, I hope Moratti doesn't dispose him away like he does with other coaches. We must let him gain some experience and give him another shot in the future. Making the step up to the first team at any club is tough but at Inter and also now is probably one of the hardest jobs ever.

Una vittoria o una sconfitta annebbia ogni cosa. L’andamento di una stagione fa il resto del lavoro “sporco”. A Torino è andata in scena una partita in cui l’Inter ha fatto una delle migliori prestazioni della sua pessima stagione. Queste cose sono svanite e spazzate via dal fatto di aver perso. E tutto il buono dimenticato in un batter di ciglio. Perché perdere con la Juventus è una piccola vergogna, un'onta di questa squadra che perde, perde sempre contro chiunque. E che questa volta ha provato ha remare nella direzione giusta. Ma il punto è un altro: la Juventus ha dimostrato sul campo di meritare la posizione in classifica.
Gioca, lotta, si sacrifica, ha uno stadio che più degli altri fa la differenza e una dirigenza tornata solida. Ma allora si può vincere anche senza avere Moggi. Si può essere competitivi anche senza fare telefonate ai designatori. Allora si può essere corretti, se lo sono anche gli altri e non ricorrere alla telefonata perché se la fanno i tuoi avversari, rischi di essere tagliato fuori e chissà con quali conseguenze. Magari è questa la vera lezione e non quello scempio visto ieri a Torino.

Il fatto che il governo del calcio e la stampa si sia assuefatta, dunque piegata ai cori su Facchetti. Cori da veri deficienti, intontiti dalla cultura dell’odio che in questi anni è stata alimentata sui forum e sui social network. E sempre il governo del calcio cieco e sordo di fronte agli scudetti inventati appiccicati nei corridoi con quella modalità infantile che non rinuncia un solo giorno alla provocazione e alla cattiveria nelle modalità che riconducono alla cultura calciopolesca di cui è ammantata la juventinità.
Se l’Inter avesse vinto oggi ci sarebbe stata una reazione più ferma e più sdegnata per quello che hanno fatto la Juventus e i suoi tifosi. Invece in questo Paese debole e appiattito dalla propria sterile volgarità si passa soprattutto dal risultato. Anzi si parla di meravigliosa coreografia della curva bianconera (sic).

I dirigenti mostrano due scudetti che la giustizia sportiva e quella penale hanno deleggitimato. Ma la questione non era legata al fatto che la Juventus accettava le sentenze e però si chiedeva come mai l’Inter non fosse stata processata? Non era questo il grande fardello? Sono stanco del clima di intimidazione di Andrea Agnelli e del costante ricorso alla cultura della vittoria come unica ragione di esistenza, all’evocazione del “palazzo” come unico riferimento per qualsivoglia torto arbitrale. I cori su Facchetti? Secondo voi una multa di qualche migliaio di euro rinsavisce degli invasati? Come la prenderebbero i tifosi della Juventus o l’opinione pubblica se ogni settimana, dico ogni settimana, si prendesse di mira Scirea o Pessotto e la sua famiglia e si facessero i cori dei simpatici tifosi juventini? Che direbbe la FEDERCALCIO se l’Inter esponesse a san Siro 19 scudetti perché, in preda allo stesso vittimismo della Juve, ritenesse che quello del 1998 non è meno sottratto di quello del 2006?

E se tutte le squadre facessero lo stesso? Tanto se dici che hai tot scudetti o non sei mai retrocesso dopo un po’ se ne convincono tutti e nessuno ti dice niente. Anzi. Dicono: che bella coreografia, che simpatica provocazione! E soprattutto quanto avrebbero difeso Moggi i tifosi della Juventus che si sentono vittime, se questi avesse risposto delle sue azioni invece di portare a fondo con sé la società? I tifosi della Juventus vadano orgogliosi per la loro storia, la loro gloria, il loro percorso e poi in ultimo anche dei trofei invece di divertirsi a calpestare i vessilli dell’Inter e fare scempi perché non c’è uno sceriffo in città.

Moratti: Stramaccioni could stay

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has not ruled out the possibility that coach Andrea Stramaccioni could remain in charge of the first team next season.

Stramaccioni replaced sacked boss Claudio Ranieri on Monday with nine Serie A games remaining. The 36-year-old has no experience coaching in Italy's top flight but guided Inter's youth team to victory in the inaugural NextGen Series in London at the weekend.

''It's clear that he (Stramaccioni) has talent and this suddenly opens the door to new projects,'' Moratti said on the club's official website. ''I have to say that if he does well, why should I not consider him for the future?''

Reports in Italy have linked Athletic Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa with a move to Inter in the summer. Bielsa turned down the Inter job last summer opting instead to join the Primera Liga outfit.

''I have always spoken well of Bielsa just as I have always said good things about Mourinho and about the Barcelona coach (Pep Guardiola),'' Moratti said. ''These coaches are of a certain level but I have to say that if we already have a talented coach at home, I 'm not going to go elsewhere and look for one.''

Inter are in eighth place, 10 points adrift of the third and last Champions League qualifying place. Stramaccioni is Inter's fifth coach in the space of 22 months and his first game in charge will be against Genoa on Sunday.

Having good scouts only works if you have a Board willing to back the scouts' judegement to sign the players, then having coaching able and willing to develop the youngsters, though.

And Zapata is the player you're thinking of.

I think we have been doing pretty well in the youth department for the last 3-4 years. We have been winning some silverware or the other. This year the NextGen series, last year the league and before that viareggio cup (if I am not wrong).

Inter in control of Viviano

Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano admits that he is not in control of his future. “Inter will decide.”

The custodian is co-owned by both outfits, but the Nerazzurri have the option to take him back to San Siro at the end of the season.

“My future doesn’t just depend on me because Inter will have to make a decision on whether to recall me in June,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

“All I can do is to help form their judgement by playing well for Palermo.”

Viviano moved to Inter last summer when the club won a blind auction with Bologna for his signature. However, he then ruptured knee ligaments which saw him sidelined for six months before joining the Rosanero in January.

“Life is great here, on and off the pitch,” he continued. “It’s hard to believe, but there is little pressure – even less than at Bologna.

“I’m really happy in Palermo and this is an important step in my career.”

Having been given first team football at the Stadio Barbera, Viviano is now targeting a return to the international set-up.

“I’m proud that Cesare Prandelli instantly called me back [for the friendly against USA in February],” said the former Under-21 custodian.

“I know that I have Gigi Buffon ahead of me, who is a phenomenon, but I have no fear. My dream is to become a pillar for the national side, to be a stable member of the squad as I was before injury.”
