I haven't heard anything about this Sahin deal, but if there is something there it would most probably be a loan deal with an option to buy which we will not take just like Zarate.
I remember reading a Football Italia article (last week I think it was) and some one asked Moratti would you sell Motta and he said no. Now his tune has changed, so something must be in the works, and like how you said Lomba, we probably won't replace him.

Kucka may be arriving. A swap deal between Kucka-Muntari is well in the works from what I read and all we need at this stage is an approval from Muntari.

After all that happened in the summer, Raineri has managed to stabilize the club. If we end up selling Motta and don't get a replacement we will go back to the point where we started.

Thiago Motta ready to leave Inter

Thiago Motta may bring an end to his Inter career in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia game at Napoli.

The Brazilian-born midfielder is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain and a switch does seem to be on the horizon.

“Tonight’s match could be Thiago’s last game in an Inter jersey,” Dario Canovi, one of his agents, told Radio CRC.

“The boy has given his availability to a transfer to PSG.

“However, we still haven’t discussed personal terms as the clubs have yet to reach a compromise over a fee.

“Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and PSG are trying to create one of the strongest sides on the planet.”

The 29-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2009 and was a key man in the club’s treble winning success under Jose Mourinho.

The Italian international, who may cost PSG around €10m, has scored three goals in 13 games for the Nerazzurri this term.

Out of the Coppa, zero tituli for us this season. Btw, if this was Motta's last game for us then it was one he will never want to remember.

M_I, I would think so too. He wants to join MIlan next season and he would rather get his paychecks regularly than playing a game.

Un vero e proprio "must" dei giornalisti italiani, un po' come la Juventus che non ha 29 scudetti ma che li avrebbe vinti sul campo (gli altri invece giocavano a cricket) e Galliani che quando parte con un contratto in tasca torna sempre con un giocatore.
Il primo punto della settimana lo dedichiamo alla squadra primavera dell'Inter che non sarà la fantomatica "cantera" blaugrana, ma ha conquistato a Leiria la Final four di Londra nella neonata NextGenSeries.
Di cosa si tratta? Una competizione patrocinata dall'ECA acronimo che sta per European Clubs Association ovvero l'associazione che unisce, raggruppa e tutela gli interessi delle squadre di calcio europee. Un'idea fondamentale infatti, nelle considerazioni dell'ECA, è quella di far crescere il settore giovanile per favorire quelle dinamiche volute dall'Uefa per ciò che concerne il miglioramento dei bilanci dei club. 4 gironi da quattro squadre sul modello della prima Champions con l'Inter scelta tra le italiane per i meriti conquistati in questi anni di vittorie nel settore giovanile. Inizio complicato con super sconfitta in casa del Tottenham ma qualificazione conquistata alle spalle degli inglesi grazie ad un brillante proseguo nelle altre gare del girone. Giovedì sera, grazie alla produzione di Inter Channel con 8 camere, molti interisti avranno potuto apprezzare una bellissima partita decisa da un bel goal di M'Baye davanti a 7.000 spettatori. Barcellona, Ajax, Liverfekkin'wankscum, Tottenham, Inter e O.Marsiglia. 6 squadre (ad oggi 2 quarti vanno ancora giocati) che rappresentano il meglio del calcio giovanile nel vecchio continente.
Orgoglio nerazzurro che andrebbe condiviso con tutti. A Barcellona i giovani arrivano facilmente in prima squadra, all'Inter succederà presto. La strada è la stessa.
Il Bilancio per ciò che concerne la prima squadra recita gli stessi numeri della passata stagione. Furono infatti 35 i punti dell'Inter di Leo al giro di boa, stesso parziale di quella di Ranieri, arrivati però in maniera diversa. Quest'anno infatti, abbiamo iniziato malissimo per poi recuperare strada facendo con uno sprint finale da testa della classifica. Nella scorsa stagione invece, fu la parte centrale del girone di andata a caratterizzare negativamente la classifica dell'Inter e la storia di Benitez in nerazzurro. Al ritorno i punti furono 47, 82 in totale, risultato non sufficiente per battere quel Milan. Questo Chissà.
Nota negativa è l'eliminazione dalla Tim Cup arrivata per mano del Napoli e dell'arbitro Celi, decisivo nella ripresa quando non ha assegnato un calcio di rigore all'Inter con conseguente espulsione di Maggio per fallo da ultimo uomo.
Nonostante ciò la cosa che più ha fatto arrabbiare l'Inter è stata l'inaccettabile telecronaca della Rai, partigiana oltremodo nel raccontare la gara dal punto di vista partenopeo. Ora, a fare l'interista ci sono io e di Inter Channel ce ne è una sola. Ma da un servizio pubblico ci si aspetta un atteggiamento più equilibrato, più adatto a soddisfare le necessità di tutti. Anche gli interisti pagano il canone alla stessa stregua degli altri tifosi come quelli del Milan che ieri sera hanno sentito una telecronaca 'amica' tanto da anticipare di venti minuti il terzo gol rossonero (peccato che il tiro di El Shaarawy è terminato fuori e non in rete) e raccontare come regolare, forse leggermente in fuorigioco, forse il tronco...... sulla posizione che ha consentito al gol di Ibrahimovic di chiudere la gara.
Tevez sarà del Milan. Probabilmente, o forse no. Nel frattempo Maxi Lopez è stato rapito e rinchiuso in un hotel Milanese. La cosa più importante però, e che dovrebbe far riflettere, è l'Intervista rilasciata dal presidente del City in cui Khaldoon Al Mubarak di fatto dice che il Milan ha giocato sporco, che la proprietà dei citizen ha i soldi per non farsi ricattare, e che piuttosto di cederlo al Milan, terrà Tévez fermo due anni e mezzo. Intanto, la società inglese, grazie ad un organo serio come l'F.A. gli ha comminato una multa che equivale agli stipendi annuali di tutta una squadra di media importanza in Italia. Nel dire ciò, ha nominato come esempi positivi Inter e Paris Saint-Germain. Una brutta figura da "hall of Fame". Devo aggiungere altro?

If your management spent less time looking at what Milan was doing and expended the energy in a more beneficial way towards their own club, you guys wouldn't be in such a rut. Inferiority complexes really blow, you guys have first hand experience of that.

Motta or money

Are Inter selling themselves short by considering offloading Thiago Motta this January? Rob Paton looks at the choice facing the club.

“He is one who sees the first ball, he has geometry. When he is good, the team benefits.” So said Claudio Ranieri recently about his central midfielder Thiago Motta. In Serie A this season, when Inter have had Motta on the pitch, they have won 90 per cent of games, have improved their goal difference at an average rate of +1.5 goals per game and have conceded just three times in his presence. Without Motta on the pitch, Inter have won just 22 per cent of League matches this season, have worsened their goal difference by an average of -0.6 goals per game and have conceded 17 goals.

As the Italian media suggested in late December, Inter win when Motta is playing and as Ranieri was keen to agree, he brings something to the team. In fact, widening the focus, Motta’s record in Serie A during three seasons with Inter stands at 41 wins, seven draws and as many defeats from 55 played. The Nerazzurri’s win percentage from the start of 2009-10 to now with Motta playing is 75 per cent, without him it is a staggering 43 per cent.

Whilst perhaps thought of for his shielding work in front of both Inter and Italy’s defences, it is interesting to note that Motta’s true contribution is in his offensive play for the team. Indeed, where there are four other players in the squad to average more tackles per game this season and 10 who have made more interceptions every 90 minutes, surprisingly no-one comes close to matching the number of passes Motta averages each game, a number he matches with an almost squad-high pass-completion rate. Inter’s style of play runs through the Brazilian-born Italian international and the statistics back it up.

It explains why, even as Inter are reportedly contemplating selling the player to Paris Saint-Germain, his Coach has repeatedly spoken of the desire to keep him with the club. Indeed, PSG’s first offer of €8m was reportedly turned down after Massimo Moratti discussed the issue with Ranieri.

Yet, the anticipation in both France and Italy is that the Ligue 1 leaders will return with a higher bid, closer to the €10m mark, whilst there are also hints of clauses in the transfer meaning that Inter could receive a further €3-5m on top of that. Whilst Ranieri may have one idea, the Nerazzurri’s attitude towards Motta suggests another. It is why the player’s agent Alessandro Canovi has been very clear this week – the Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to Napoli could be the No 8’s last for the club.

Indeed significantly, PSG’s reported offer of a three-year contract and €2.5m annual net salary sits in sharp contrast to Inter’s non-existent offer of a deal to the player. As Canovi reflected this week, it is not the money – PSG offering less than his current deal – or even the length of the contract that has turned the player’s head.

“I believe Inter have made a mistake, not so much for not renewing his contract, but for the lack of consideration for the player, despite him being one of the most important for the team.”

Soon after his return from injury in December, Motta and Canovi both admitted to the Press of the footballer’s desire to stay at the club, but that in light of no approach on a new contract, they had already by that stage begun to anticipate a summer 2012 transfer. Motta’s current deal expires a year after that, the summer would be the club’s opportunity to cash in on him with enough time to find a replacement.

However, PSG’s interest has seemingly accelerated the process. Should the reports accurately reflect the amount the club could receive for their player, it would actually represent a slight profit on the fee the Milanese originally paid Genoa two-and-a-half years ago. Combined with the fact that Motta breaks the 30-year barrier in late summer and the deal begins to make financial sense.

Even so, as the statistics and Ranieri’s words on the matter clearly show, there is a value beyond the financial that Motta represents for Inter. Talk of younger, more overtly attacking and dynamic footballers targeted as his replacement may help to convince the Inter faithful that this is a sensible transfer. Indeed, one such name the club are reportedly tracking is Real Madrid’s ailing but equally promising Nuri Sahin.

As Il Giornale put it this week, though: “Inter need a player who can dictate the tempo in midfield, who can win, turn and run with the ball, provide tactical and technical support to any teammate in need. In the squad there is no-one else who can do the same. Selling Thiago now can only be a great deal for commercial business, not a great deal for the team.”
