Few fans will be sad to see the exit of Ricardo Quaresma but, as Serafino Ingardia points out, his departure is a massive defeat for Inter
Not that many people, if any, expected Ricardo Quaresma to be a Chelsea player today. Rumours of an Inter exit only surfaced yesterday morning after he was left out of the Nerazzurri’s Champions League squad list.

Tottenham were apparently in pole position for the flamboyant winger in a swap deal involving Jermaine Jenas. However, Chelsea and former Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari then stepped out of the shadows to secure his services until June.

The Trivela master, who joined the Nerazzurri from Porto this summer, effectively proved to be a fish out of water at San Siro. But his Stamford Bridge loan undoubtedly represents a defeat for Inter and a gamble that can’t be lost for the Blues.

Quaresma has so far proved to be largely ineffective at the highest level. He failed at Barcelona and, despite an impressive spell at Porto, flopped during his 13 League outings for Inter. Still his talent cannot be questioned.

If we are going to splash the cash then it should be on Augero or Villa. I don't think we should have Adriano and two youngsters in Aquafresca and Balotelli. Ibra next season may not be as great as this season. So we def need another reliable striker, hopefully not drogba.

Quaresma to show quality - Inter outcast desperate to prove worth

Chelsea loanee Ricardo Quaresma is determined to find his best form for the club following a difficult spell with Inter Milan.

The Portuguese winger has moved to Stamford Bridge until the end of the season after falling out of favour under former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Inter.

Indeed, Quaresma feels that he was not given the chance to shine in Italy, but with a reunion with ex-Portugal boss Luiz Felipe Scolari now sealed, the showboat king expects to give a far better account of his undoubted talent in the second half of the season.

"I didn't have many opportunities to show my qualities at Inter," Quaresma told Chelsea TV.

"All I want is to show my qualities, to show what I am made of and hopefully I am going to help Chelsea achieve their goals.

"Obviously Chelsea is a great club and it has great quality players and I am very proud that I can have the chance to represent such a great club.

"I am going to give my best, I am going to prove that I deserve to be in this team and that I am the right player to help Chelsea achieve their goals. Hopefully I will be able to do so."

As well as Scolari, Quaresma will be joining some more familiar faces in London, with compatriots Deco, Ricardo Carvalho, Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira and Henrique Hilario already at the club.

"With all the other Portuguese players, I am sure it is going to be easier for me and I am very glad to be here with them," he added.

"I hope to please the supporters as much as I hope to please the team because that is what we play for, that is what motivates us."

Cambiasso close to extension

Esteban Cambiasso is poised to sign a contract extension with Inter before the end of the week.

The Argentine international midfielder has been with the club since arriving on a free transfer when his contract at Real Madrid expired in 2004.

Cambiasso's current deal expires in June 2010, but he the 28-year-old is keen to commit his future to the Nerazzurri.

Manchester City have recently been linked with a bumper bid for Cambiasso and that may have shocked the club into trying to tie him down to a longer deal.

The Corriere dello Sport claims that Cambiasso's father and agent Carlos will meet with directors before the end of the week to discuss an extension until 2013.

Jose Mourinho's Transfer List: Aguero, Drogba And Acquafresca – Report
Mourinho has had enough of keeping the faith in an unreliable front line and it could soon be time for drastic changes...

Inter coach Jose Mourinho has drawn up his transfer list for the summer and they included all the usual suspects as Didier Drogba, Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero and Robert Acquafresca have all appeared in his notebook.

Il Corriere Dello Sport claims Nerazzurri chief Massimo Moratti will give his coach another blank cheque book at the end of the season and the three hit-men will be dragged in.

All of the 'Special One's' problems have been up front this season. Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic seems to guarantee goals and the Portuguese coach is clearly not happy with this state of affairs. Adriano and Mario Balotelli have brought off-field problems to the team over the course of the season and some new faces are expected to arrive and replace the faces that don’t fit.

Chelsea's Drogba is a well known favourite of Mourinho and a summer move could take off as the big Ivorian striker has not been the same in west London ever since the Special One left Stamford Bridge.

Acquafresca is also likely to be brought back home. Inter own the Italian under-21 international and ‘Mou’ wants him back at all costs. The Polish-born star has been outstanding this term as his goals have taken Cagliari from relegation strugglers to Champions League outsiders.

Last but certainly not least is Atletico Madrid hitman Aguero. Atleti have been looking shaky this term and the big step up to a major club could be tempting for the Argentine. In addition, his father-in-law is none other than the legendary Diego Maradona, who is pushing his daughter’s spouse towards Inter.

Mourinho is likely to bag all three this summer but he needs to offload Hernan Crespo, Julio Cruz and Balotelli in order to do so.
