You obviously don't remember when Mourinho crammed Makelele, Essien, Ballack and Lampard all into the same midfield. The normal rules don't apply to Chelsea.

However, I do expect Lamapard to join Inter, even if Mourinho suggests it might not happen for another year.

Inter Join Juve In The Race For Schweinsteiger

Inter have joined the race to sign Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich according to Sportmediaset.

The Nerazzurri are keen on adding some strength in midfield and Jose Mourinho has already picked out a number of possible transfer targets including Frank Lampard and Ricardo Quaresma.

The former Chelsea coach would prefer to sign the Porto star but Sportmediaset claims that Inter’s relationship with the Portuguese club is not the best and that Mourinho has identified Bastian Schweinsteiger as an alternative should the move for Quaresma fail.

The German international raised a few eyebrows during Euro 2008 and Inter’s bitter rivals Juventus are believed to have shown an interest in the player and thus an exciting battle for the player could be on the horizon.

The Bianconeri, like Inter, are currently wheeling and dealing for a midfielder and Claudio Ranieri is likely to pull out all the stops in order to land the German star.

Bayern are willing to sell their player now as they would risk losing him on a Bosman ruling next year. Schweinsteiger recently admitted that he would be interested in a move to Serie A but it remains to be seen just where he will end up.

Maxwell Makes Inter Ultimatum

The agent of Inter star Maxwell has warned that his client will quit the club unless he is offered a new and improved contract immediately.

The Brazilian left back has been outstanding since joining the Nerazzurri from Ajax Amsterdam in 2006, and has played a key part in the club’s last two Scudetto triumphs.

However, Maxwell’s contract at San Siro runs out in 2010, and despite repeatedly expressing his wish for a new deal, Inter have so far failed to make him an offer.

The 26-year-old is one of the lower paid members of the first team squad, and his €2m is below the average wage at the club, and is indeed less than a number of squad players.

Jose Mourinho is expecting an 'important week' in his attempts to improve Internazionale's squad.

The Italian champions have been linked with a string of potential summer signings since Mourinho replaced Roberto Mancini as coach.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and Roma winger Mancini are rumoured to be among Mourinho's prime targets.

Speaking at the club's headquarters, the former Chelsea manager suggested new arrivals could soon be on their way.

"It is going to be an important week for the transfer market, but we must not let ourselves get swept up in too much haste," Mourinho told Sky Italia.

"We are relaxed, the squad is solid and we have to do things without rushing. I have confidence in this side and in my work, we do not want to be the champions of the summer."

Mourinho, who had been out of management since leaving Chelsea last September, admits he is looking forward to working with his new squad of players next month.

He added: "I am feeling great and salute the Inter fans, but also all those who love football.

"I am relaxed and I far prefer working on the field than in an office, but it has to be done and I am very enthusiastic.

"I cannot wait for July 15, I need to get to work."

New Blackburn boss Paul Ince has revealed his wish to one day take charge of Internazionale.

Ince was appointed to the Ewood Park hotseat last week after successful stints at Macclesfield and then Milton Keynes Dons.

He has been mentioned as a potential future England manager but he admits he finds himself thinking about Inter more often.

The former midfielder spent two years at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as a player and longs to return at some point in the future.

However, he is currently focusing solely on his first season in the Premiershit as he looks to improve on Rovers' seventh-placed finish from last term.

"My dream was always to manage in the Premiershit," Ince told Radio Five Live. "Now I have the chance to do that.

Patriotic

"I'm very patriotic. I love my country, I loved playing for it.

"In time to come there could be a chance to be in charge, but there are a lot of better managers out there who are probably in front of me when it comes to the England job.

"If I was to have a dream it would probably be to go and manage Inter Milan in the future. I had two great years there and I'd love to go back.

"In the meantime, all my energies are focused on Blackburn having a really good season."
