Report: Cruz could leave Inter

MILAN, Italy: Inter Milan striker Julio Ricardo Cruz may be looking to join AS Roma or Barcelona when the next transfer window opens in January.

Cruz, who has scored key late goals in Inter's last two games, has a contract that expires after this season and Inter has shown no intention of extending it, the Gazzetta dello Sport reported Tuesday.

Cruz had a run-in with Jose Mourinho earlier this month, with the Inter coach declaring that the Argentine was playing only for himself. Mourinho then left Cruz off the roster for a game.

Roma, which is in desperate need of goals and only one point above the relegation zone, would be a good fit for the 34-year-old Cruz, who would like to play two more seasons and make Argentina's squad for the 2010 World Cup.

If he were to join Barcelona, Cruz would play alongside Argentina teammate Lionel Messi.

Cruz's injury-time goal Sunday gave Inter a 1-0 win over Udinese, and he also scored a late goal in a 3-3 draw with Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta in the Champions League last week.

He has scored 75 goals in all competitions with Inter, including 19 last season — second only to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 22.

Roma To Pounce For Crespo And Obinna - Report

Roma may pounce for Inter strikers Hernan Crespo and Victor Obinna, according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport...

The Giallorossi have been keen on landing the under-fire Nerazzurri forwards and they may make their move in January.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims Luciano Spalletti wants both strikers in order to offer him more options up front and break away from the 4-5-1 formation he has been using.

Crespo has been out of favour at San Siro. The Argentine striker has hardly featured this term and he has only been used as a bit-part player to cover for injuries.

He may now find himself moving on. The player has always stated his stance and he wants regular football. The Giallorossi may offer him that if Spalletti changes his system.

Reports suggest Obinna is also being touted. The Nigerian youngster has been added to the wish-list at Trigoria and he may join them in January.

Obinna would be eligible for the Champions League, as he wasn't included in the list Inter handed UEFA back in September.

However, Crespo is the likely target as Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho has been considering the Nigerian recently, leading to speculation he may remain in Milan.

Roma need some guaranteed firepower up front. The Giallorossi are hovering above the relegation and a decent hit-man who can promise goals may be the answer to their woes.

Mourinho aveva annunciato il suo ritorno tra i convocati per la trasferta di sabato a Palermo ma Adriano ne ha combinata un'altra delle sue: si è dato malato comunicando soltanto ad allenamento in corso di avere la febbre. Il tecnico è andato su tutte le furie e lo strappo sembra ora davvero difficile da ricucire. Per questo Adriano potrebbe andare via già a gennaio. Nel caso restasse fino a giugno, possibile uno scambio con l'Atletico per Aguero.


Sembrava che la 'punizione' fosse finita e che Adriano fosse destinato a ritornare in squadra dopo l'ennesima bravata di una notte in discoteca e del ritardo all'allenamento del giorno dopo. Mourinho lo aveva annunciato domenica scorsa: "Se continuerà ad allenarsi come nell'ultima settimana giocherà sicuramente a Palermo...".

Il brasiliano, fuori dal 26 ottobre scorso, ci ha messo davvero poco per smentire il suo allenatore: martedì ha fatto sapere di avere la febbre soltanto quando i compagni erano già in campo ad allenarsi. Mou non l'ha presa bene e questo episodio potrebbe essere decisivo per una definitiva rottura tra i due e tra Adriano e l'Inter. Molto probabile quindi che il giocatore venga messo sul mercato già a gennaio. Spunta però un'altra ipotesi: Adriano cioè potrebbe restare fino a fine stagione e nel mercato di giugno essere una pedina di scambio nell'operazione che porterebbe il talento dell'Atletico Madrid Aguero in maglia nerazzurra. Nella corsa al "Kun" l'Inter è in pole position: il suocero Maradona è in ottimi rapporti con Massimo Moratti e in futuro lavoreranno insieme. Il primo contatto tra il club nerazzurro e quello spagnolo sarebbe già avvenuto nei giorni scorsi. Di fronte all'offensiva del Manchester City per il giocatore argentino, la dirigenza di via Durini avrebbe rotto gli indugi per non restare spiazzata.
