Mourinho man-marks Lampard

Jose Mourinho is close to convincing Frank Lampard to leave Chelsea for a sensational £10m move to Inter.

Ever since Mourinho took charge at San Siro, there have been rumours he wanted to tempt the England midfielder over to Italy.

According to reports in today’s papers, including Tuttosport, the arrival of Luiz Felipe Scolari on the Stamford Bridge bench may actually help Mourinho’s cause.

It is claimed he has been engaging in a series of telephone conversations with Lampard to explain the virtues of switching to Serie A.

Transfer guru Marco Branca has also prepared an impressive offer for Chelsea to release the player.

A deal with Lampard himself seems to be in good shape, as his current contract expires in June 2009.

The reports suggest Inter will set aside around £10m for the transfer plus a contract worth £5m per season.

It is also possible Inter will use another deal as leverage. Both Scolari and Mourinho have requested Portuguese international winger Ricardo Quaresma.

If Chelsea agree to release Lampard, the Nerazzurri will back off Quaresma to avoid sparking a bidding war.

certanly the media talk so much crap make you think how they can make up so many storyes .
scolari was contracted 6 months ago and they make sound that spalletti mancini ancellotti and bla bla bla all in the race for it .then in 10 minutes was done 300 pages contrat for scolari .now all this players are changing clubs end at the end very litlle happen

I dunno abt you guys but i am really irritated with us being linked with so many names everyday and the matter of the fact is that we haven't signed anyone yet....

TBH, I wouldn't have a clue. We haven't had a playmaker for quite some time at Inter so why do we need one now? All we need are ball distributors like Cambiasso and Vieira and if we have extremely creative wingers like Q7 and Mancini and not forgeting Ibrahimovic who's the most creative forward there is, then we wouldn't need a Kaka or a Pirlo in the team. Remember, all that talk about buying a CAM was when Mancini was still the manager and so we shouldn't assume this is what Mourinho want's aswell, IMO.

We already have Jimenez who had a great season when he played; he scored some great goals and had some blinders like the first derby and if given more playing time, he will improve next season as well. But if Mourinho wants a world renowned central playmaker then we're going to have to cough up quite a bit of dough to bring one in.
