Benitez shifted back to last year's tactic. Low defence and fast counters. I beleive that is why Eto'o played on the flanks as apart from being more reliable than Pandev to cover, he can counter faster.
And I dont have the proof for this, but I am inclined to think that Benitez reads us frequently....and this is his response to Briz -

Inter ready to gamble on Cassano
Reports are beginning to emerge that Inter are keen to sign Antonio Cassano should Sampdoria succeed in rescinding his contract.

The 28-year-old has been in limbo this last month after falling out with Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone who has frozen him out of the club.

Tuttosport claims Inter have already agreed personal terms with the player regarding a move in the January transfer window.

Inter President Massimo Moratti has never made any secret of his desire to sign Cassano and the timing appears to be right for his arrival at San Siro.

The financial fair-play conscious Inter wouldn't blink at the prospect of picking up Cassano on a free transfer, as the only cost they would incur would be the player's wages.

Cassano would represent a relatively cheap replacement of sorts for Mario Balotelli whose absence has been felt at San Siro following his move to San Siro.

Benitez, dopo la partita contro i campioni d'Olanda, ha provato a dare un terza interpretazione al gran numero di infortuni: "E' dovuto al fatto che i calciatori lo scorso anno sono stati spremuti fino all'ultima giornata".
C'è però chi, tornando al dilemma iniziale, crede che gli infortuni non siano né colpa delle partite dello scorso anno né colpa della sfortuna. Quel qualcuno, non è certo una persona di secondo piano nel piano dirigenziale nerazzurro: Massimo Moratti. Il patron dell'Inter, rasserenato per il successo che ha qualificato la sua squadra agli ottavi, ha confermato la fiducia nel tecnico: "Con Benitez mi sono salutato con grande serenità e con un sorriso sincero. Questo vale più di ogni discorso. Poi, però, non ha risparmiato una stilettata che ha di fatto addossato le colpe delle tante defezioni proprio sulle spalle del tecnico spagnolo: "Ora bisogna fare in modo che i calciatori non si facciano più male. Per il resto, Benitez è un ottimo allenatore".

Well Briz it's not about anyone being right or wrong. Actually I'm pretty sure we'll never actually have a proof of anything.

And since I am not inclined to believe what is said in the article you showed up, I've looked for an official entity like Inter.it, and it seems like Moratti didnt say what your article suggests. That would have been a huge own-goal, but I doubt he is that stupid.

Rafa: 'A bit of a crazy game'
Rafa Benitez has thanked the Inter fans “for always supporting us. It was a bit of a crazy game.”

The Nerazzurri were trailing after four minutes, scored three goals in five minutes, then survived Parma hitting the woodwork three times in a 5-2 victory.

“I think it was a bit of a crazy game,” confessed the Coach. “We proved that we could play it very well.

“I want to thank the fans in the Curva for always supporting me and the team in this difficult moment for us.”

Dejan Stankovic bagged a hat-trick, even if two of them were deflected, while Felice Natalino made his Serie A debut.

“I am happy for Natalino and Stankovic, plus Thiago Motta’s return from that long injury lay-off.”

Benitez also shrugged off talk of tension behind the scenes with President Massimo Moratti.

“My relationship with the President is normal. I am a professional, I have been working with my staff for 25 years and have never had so many injuries.”

The tactician got in a jab at Jose Mourinho’s fitness coach, who today said the injuries were the fault of Benitez’s training methods.

“There are many reasons behind all these setbacks. Anyone who thinks they are solely down to my training methods is ignorant.”

Inter are back in business with a spectacular 5-2 win over Parma and Dejan Stankovic's hat-trick. It was an end-to-end game of comebacks with so many chances for both sides and the Nerazzurri riding their luck.

The pressure was lifted by a Champions League win over Twente midweek, but a run of two points from four Serie A games needed to be turned around. It wouldn't be easy, as Samuel Eto'o began his three-match ban for head-butting Chievo's Bostjan Cesar, joining the injured Philippe Coutinho, Cristian Chivu, MacDonald Mariga, Julio Cesar, Diego Milito, Douglas Maicon, Joel Obi, Walter Samuel and David Suazo. This meant Goran Pandev became centre-forward as the only fit striker, while Davide Santon was pushed into an advanced role.

Parma were without Alberto Paloschi, Daniele Galloppa, Stefano Morrone and Fernando Marques, but Sebastian Giovinco made his comeback to partner ex-Inter hitman Hernan Crespo. The Ducali had lost their last four consecutive San Siro trips, winning just once with a 3-1 in May 1999.

Crespo is very familiar with this stadium and proved it by giving Parma the lead within the opening four minutes. Angelo's cross from the right took a deflection off Javier Zanetti and the 35-year-old was quickest to react, flicking it past Luca Castellazzi at the near post from three yards.

Crespo got in front of Lucio, but couldn't quite make clean contact with the volley. Pandev's turn was charged down by Alessandro Lucarelli, but Castellazzi again had to beat away an Angelo snapshot and a wonderful Giovinco lob skimmed the woodwork.

Inter equalised with their first real opportunity and Antonio Mirante had no chance of getting near it, as Dejan Stankovic's hopeful snapshot from distance took a massive deflection off Lucarelli's back to leave the goalkeeper stranded.

It was the spark they needed, as within 40 seconds Stankovic had scored again with a deflection! Jonathan Biabiany pulled back to the edge of the box for Stankovic's daisy-cutter, which changed direction off Luca Antonelli's heel to settle into the far bottom corner.

Rarely has a game been turned around so quickly against the run of play, as Inter made it 3-1 with their third goal in five minutes. A corner kick went all the way to the back post for Esteban Cambiasso to tap in with the outside of his foot in acres of space.

Lucarelli stood his ground to intercept a Pandev counter-attack that would've sent him clear on goal.

It still wasn't over, though, as Parma got back into it with Crespo's second of the game. A lucky ricochet off Massimo Gobbi after messy defending from Lucio and Marco Materazzi handed him the ball in the D and Crespo did the rest with a thumping finish.

Crespo was about to complete another incredible comeback and his hat-trick just three minutes later! An Angelo cross was whipped in from the right for Valdanito's header into the ground, forcing a desperate reaction save out of Castellazzi.

There were two changes at the break with Felice Natalino on for Santon and Francesco Valiani replacing Gobbi. Straight after the restart a Sneijder free kick was knocked on for Cambiasso to flash across the face of goal.

Moments later Castellazzi had to stick out a foot to deny Crespo's angled drive. A Stankovic screamer skimmed the top corner, but on 51 minutes Angelo had acres of space from Giovinco's cross only to crack his shot against the base of the upright from nine yards!

Thiago Motta made his comeback from months of injury problems and what a return it was, as he scored Inter's fourth goal. A Sneijder free kick was not dealt with at all well, as Antonio Mirante flapped at it and the ball was put back into the centre for Motta's right-foot strike under the bar.

Parma were incredibly unlucky 60 seconds later. Crespo just couldn't get that hat-trick, as he redirected Antonelli's cross with his flicked header on to the woodwork.

Inter took full advantage to ride their luck, as Stankovic completed his own treble. Sneijder rolled across the edge of the box for Deki to take a couple of paces and fire in at the near post with his right foot.

Pandev didn't make it to the scoring party, as he hit the side-netting after a defensive error when he really should've steered it in. Crespo followed suit by firing wide at the other end. Castellazzi did well to smother Paletta's effort at the second attempt.

Surely a result like this and the 3 goals on the board for Stankovic should mark a return for our own Dejan.
Sounds like we were extremely lucky and still not convincing yet. All we need is to keep the wins flowing and once we are at full strength we will be back at the top!
