That is the main reason that's holding me back to fully embrace the idea of sacking Benitez. Where do we find someone capable of keeping this group motivated? All the managers that have been associated to this job are simply a step down to Benitez. Also anyone who comes in now will most certainly be axed in june. Are we sure the players will be more motivated with someone occupying that kind of role? Difficult decision.
You shouldn't sack Benitez; you should just give him some time to settle properly. As I told you at the time, there was a reason Moaninho ran away when he did - and not the ones about his being unhappy in Italy or wanting a new challenge in Spain. Benitez will put the pieces back together if you give him a chance. The question is only whether Moratti will hold his nerve.
Maro, as unprofessional as it might seem, the real problem in here seems to be the player's not willingness to lend a hand to their manager. Benitez has been left alone.
I think Moratti has been skeptical since day 1. We all know Benitez wasn't Morrati's first choice or rather Moratti's choice at all, Branca was the one who had wanted Benitez. Being 9 points adrift and losing our grip on the Scudetto after 5 years of domination isn't going down well. I have been saying this for sometime, I believe it all depends on what we do in the Club World Cup. If we end up losing that then Benitez will be shown the door for sure. We will have the winter break and it would be an appropriate time to bring in a new coach. In order to avoid that we need to starting winning and quickly.
I agree with Frank here, Lomba: negative spirals develop a terrible momentum of their own. Lord knows we've seen it at Roma more than once. Success brings success; when you're struggling everything comes tumbling down.
Reports keep suggesting that the players are against Benitez. Certainly reports are a far cry from facts, but once these stories keep coming out one after the other, it means that there is some truth in it. I have been following Inter for a good number of years now, and know how this system works. Some journalists have secret news directly from a couple of players and staff at the club. That's the way it is at Inter.
Let's blame the players ,the world cup ,the fans , moratti ,branca ,the color of the sky the fact is a good coach take control ,if a player dont like it ,send him on the stand like mourinkia did with balotelli . we try and find all the exuses in the world and forget who should be in comand and where the blame lie ,benitez done mistakes of all kind one after the other.
We need to stick with Rafa until the end of the season at least. He hasn't even been in charge for 6 months and is without half the team. He didn't not get any new players (through no fault of his own) and our rivals have strengthened their squads.
We are simply in a slump atm. He may have made some bad decisions in recent matches, but have we forgotten that we thumped Bremen 4-0 a few months back with a full strength team? In Jose's first year we lost to Bremen 2-1 in Germany, 1-0 to Panathanokis at home and drew 3-3 with Anorthosisisisissisisis over there in Cyprus. I understand things have changed since then but what did Jose do in his second year?
Rafa needs time. We sack him, then have to payout the rest of his contract. We will lose out big time if that's the case.
Ok lomba bury your head in the sand ,keep benitez and if we are lucky we may stay in seria A because we need another 20 points to be safe ,and going at this rate we be going DOWNNNNNNNNNN to seria B, i make excuses ? lol look who is beating as . if you look when i see this coming ,no paper say nothing then. i see it coming long ago
Does it never occur to you though that the players who are actually playing should take responsability of their actions? Why do they need a change in manager to even give a shit? It's not like they're being paid with peanuts. And the club has to take responsability too for putting Benitez in the worst possible position. They practically used him since the beginning as an excuse to not spend. Once we agree that these parties have the same exact blames as Benitez, we might be able to agree on other points too.
Briz, Benitez may be responsible for what is wrong with us currently but he is not the one and only reason and that is what Lomba is trying to say. For the next Serie A weekend, we will have Pandev and Biabiany as the only available strikers with Eto'o receiving a 3 match ban. In midfield we have got an out of sorts Sneijder, no better Stankovic and Cambiasso not fully fit. Has Mourinho ever been in this position.
I also think us still holding on to Mourinho is part of the problem and may be the players are doing the same too. We will never be able to repeat the feats of last season and no one can take the position of Mourinho but he is history. The players need to move on, listen to Benitez and adjust to his tactics.
Frank it seems that Motta will play against Twente. If he can stay fit for a couple of weeks (and that is a huge IF), he can be invaluable. Another thing, how much do we regret having loaned Destro out to Genoa? Ironically he would have played much more with us than with Genoa. For next weekend, I think Benitez will still field his 4-2-3-1 formation with Pandev as striker and Biabiany & Alibec on the flanks. But let's for a moment concentrate on tomorrow's match...we might end up with further injuries anyways..
Lomba we differ on many points ,i say it again ,a good manager take charge and is in control of the players and not the other way around ,been done over and over ,the lazio coach done it DEL NERI done it at samp ,Benitez is a nice guy not a good manager ,he should have dane it with chivu when publicly in a game treaten to walk out .now the players know how he is and is clear he lost is autority .you just mumble on about crap many paper write instead of judging by yourself.and judging on what you see and what is happening.
Inter are falling apart under Rafael Benitez. Serafino Ingardia feels the Spaniard needs to be replaced if the Nerazzurri are to salvage their season “Has Rafa lost again? It’s incredible. They are already nine points behind…” Those were the words of Jose Mourinho following the latest Inter debacle, who we must credit for his sarcasm.
Not so elegant, perhaps slightly inappropriate, but Jose is one of the few managers in the game who serves truth as if it was revenge. We may define him as arrogant, but the same can be said about Rafael Benitez – especially for those who witnessed his last few years in charge at Liverfekkin'wankscum.
Still Jose has enough personality to back his cockiness up and most importantly he knows how to succeed. Now that is the key difference between the two because while Mourinho provided success, which is exactly what a club like Inter crave, Rafa has done anything but win.
Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all rosy when the Special One was in charge and it would be a mistake to think the contrary. But when he did go through a difficult spell, the Nerazzurri still managed to bag wins even by a single goal.
Furthermore, that boring Inter side – as it was described in the past – scored many more goals than this one. Over his career the Special One has shown to be a flexible man and flexibility is a quality the stubborn Rafa clearly lacks.
With Rafa, Inter thought they had found a master tactician in a country where Jose looked exposed at times. What the Spaniard has done so far is lead this team to its knees. Not for years had the Nerazzurri gone without a win in four games and never had they fallen so low in the table as they are now.
Give Benitez all the excuses possible but the reality is that this Inter side under Rafa isn’t going to win much by the look of it. All taken into account, Rafa’s spell so far has been a failure, which is why Massimo Moratti is right to consider firing the Spaniard.
Walter Zenga makes a good point when he claims that a great club like Inter shouldn’t bin a long term plan due to a poor run. On the other hand, we may also argue that once a mistake is acknowledged the longer you stick to it the more painful it will be in the end.
The truth is that Rafa’s problems are bigger than they appear from the outside. The problem of this Inter side lies in the hardcore of the team. The former Liverfekkin'wankscum boss has failed to win over that dressing room which was so united under the Special One. Key players like Wesley Sneijder, Diego Milito and Douglas Maicon haven’t shown the will to fight for him.
I may also add that when a Coach gets told by his own players how to run a training session then it means he is on the edge of a cliff. He just needs that little push to fall over. Will Twente provide that push? Perhaps, but my belief lies elsewhere.
With the World Cup for clubs approaching fast, Moratti would be a fool to fire his Coach had he not contacted a valid replacement. Now with Luciano Spalletti reportedly on a mini-break in Italy after winning the Russian League title with Zenit, I feel that may be enough to persuade the Beneamata patron to show Rafa the exit door. If the former Roma boss was to express his availability for the job there would be very little Rafa could do to prevent the inevitable.
I had mentioned this a couple of posts back MI. Nothing is confirmed but from past experience, when many reports indicate that this has happened, it means that there is some truth in it.
IS he for the primavera or is he one of our potential two signings for the first team?
We have been playing with a 4-2-2-2 formation with Eto'o and Biabiany on the wings and Sneijder as a striker along with Pandev, I totally did not expect that. May be in lieu of Eto'os suspension and lack of strikers. We have been much better than in the game against Chievo and have had numerous good chances but I don't know what it would take for us to get the ball into the back of the net. Near misses, hitting the post and lack of confidence have all contributed to this.
I think we would improve markedly as a team if we could only get a goal.
Good win though both sides should have scored more goals. Sneijder himself should have scored at least one. We played some good football today though we struggled a bit because of Twente's power and physicality. Stankovic and Cambiasso did a good job of alternating between defence and attack, when one was forward the other was back protecting the back four. The full backs also played much forward and especially Zanetti helped the attack a lot. We pressed all over the pitch and won back possession in crucial areas in Twente's half.
The defence still has some work to be done. Lucio's lapse in concentration could have cost us dearly if Twente were better at finishing. Other than that, you can't fault the boys for today's performance though we should have definitely scored more. The important players are clearly lacking in form and precision in front of goal.
