I see Lomba is feeling brave. Coincidentally, today at 01:53 pm I got a brain wave, and thought we should rename this thread to 'Intermerda Main Cock-Smoking Thread II – Cheating and Cock-Smoking since Moggi was Ousted'. If any interisti object to this and don't want to rename the thread, its no problem, simply inform your forum moderator who can in turn inform me.
A bit harsh considering we still don't know Dejan's whereabouts don't you think? I really do hope he is ok. Vucinic would be a great buy but I tend to op for purchases outside of the Serie A. I know some of our stars have been purchases from other Serie A Clubs like Milito but I want us to buy from the Bundesliga, La Liga etc so we can strengthen the league rather than weaken our opponents. Unless we over pay for the player and teh team selling the player can increase the depth of their squad. As you can tell I am all for the Serie A
Inter 4 - 3 Tottenham Zanetti 2 (I), Eto'o pen 11, 35 (I), Stankovic 14 (I), Bale 52, 90, 91 (T) San Siro
Inter demolished 10-man Tottenham in the first half, but Gareth Bale scored a corking hat-trick for an incredible 4-3 final result. The points were under lock and key within 14 minutes at San Siro.
The Nerazzurri were still without Thiago Motta and Diego Milito, while Goran Pandev and Esteban Cambiasso were only fit for the bench. It gave Samuel Eto'o the opportunity to keep his favoured centre-forward role as Rafa Benitez welcomed Harry Redknapp's Spurs. Ledley King, Younes Kaboul, Michael Dawson, Jermain Defoe and Jamie O’Hara were injured and Rafael van der Vaart suspended. Roman Pavlyuchenko was pushed to the bench, as Luka Modric supported Peter Crouch.
It was the most extraordinary start for Inter, who took the lead after 68 seconds! The goalscorer was extremely unusual, as Coutinho and Eto'o combined to send Javier Zanetti clear down the left side of the box and he placed it across Heurelho Gomes with the inside of his foot. This angled drive was the captain's first Champions League goal since February 2008 and a fine way to mark his return from a lung injury. It also made him the oldest ever Champions League scorer at 37 years, 71 days.
It was an absolute disaster for Spurs, who crumbled at San Siro. Just seven minutes in, Jonathan Biabiany sprinted into the box from an inspired Wesley Sneijder cross-field pass and was felled when Gomes came flying off his line to hack him down. The penalty and red card were inevitable, reducing Tottenham to 10 men.
Carlo Cudicini had to come off the bench to replace Modric and his first job was to face Eto'o for the spot-kick. The Cameroon international had a juddering run-up, but buried the penalty for his 13th goal of the season.
There was only one team on the pitch. Dejan Stankovic made it 3-0 within 14 minutes with another splendid passing move that had around 30 exchanges. Douglas Maicon, Stankovic, Eto'o and again Stankovic - who waited for the Spurs defender to commit himself - smashed a low drive into the near bottom corner from the D.
It was almost 4-0 when a corner was whipped back into the centre for a spectacular Stankovic scissor-kick volley that Cudicini palmed on to the back of a Spurs teammate and was fortunate to see break clear.
Tottenham had their first chance after 27 minutes when Peter Crouch only knocked his free header over the bar.
Hutton did well to charge down Sneijder's shot after a Coutinho dummy let the pass through, but moments later the fourth went in.
Eto'o sprung the offside trap down the left from a Coutinho slide-rule pass and shook off Bassong to prod it past Cudicini at the near post, despite the goalkeeper getting his foot to it.
Coutinho combined with Eto'o for a fierce drive that bounced off Cudicini's chest, but the goalkeeper was able to recover the situation. Before half-time Cudicini again had to parry two Douglas Maicon powerful strikes from seven yards.
Coutinho went on a wonderful run spinning and twirling between Spurs defenders to eventually hit the side-netting. t's already 4-0 for Inter at half-time against 10-man Tottenham, as Samuel Eto'o bagged a brace.
Bad news straight after the restart when Stankovic immediately limped off and looked very upset, throwing his boot at the advertising boards as he clutched his right ankle. Davide Santon replaced him for an unusual midfield role.
Tottenham pulled one back with a wonderful solo effort from Gareth Bale, who had already been linked with a move to Inter, Juventus or Milan. He gathered just over the half-way line, burst forward down the left and surged past Zanetti to thump the angled drive across a stunned Julio Cesar into the far bottom corner.
Santon had a great chance by cutting in behind Hutton for a daisy-cutter than Cudicini fingertipped round the base of the upright. Sneijder and Eto'o combined before the Dutchman was eventually crowded out inside the box.
Bale had another effort charged down and Assou-Ekotto ballooned the follow-up over, as 10-man Tottenham tried to restore some pride against an Inter side that was starting to relax. Coutinho prodded wide after a good run.
Former Inter striker Robbie Keane came on for Crouch, a decade after he played here. Coutinho blasted another solo effort just over the bar, as did Alan Hutton.
The game seemed to be limping towards a simple finish, but Bale had no intention of going quietly into the night. Again Bale gathered from the middle of the park and surged forward down the left to flash an angled drive across Julio Cesar.
Just 30 seconds later it was 4-3! Bale got the ball from Lennon and managed to again fire past Julio Cesar from 10 yards in a sensational comeback from 10-man Spurs. Inter: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu (Pandev 61); Zanetti, Stankovic (Santon 50); Biabiany (Cordoba 75), Sneijder, Coutinho; Eto'o
Come on Shieldy, nowadays, he's just a bencher for you guys and Roma always needs the cash. It's not him we'll get someone else but I believe he is a more plausable solution then say Benzema, considering our needs..
Moratti just can't shut up...Can he -------------------------------------------- Moratti fuels Messi speculation Inter President Massimo Moratti has refused to let speculation linking him with a move for Lionel Messi die down by addressing the subject again.
Earlier this week, the Barcelona forward said he knew Moratti was joking about signing him, but was flattered nonetheless and intended to stay in Spain for life.
Rather than give up the chase, Moratti told Sky Italia: “Contrary to the way in which his words were reported Messi was very kind.
“He said: 'Moratti is very kind, I believe he was joking but it makes me happy'. Anyway, it wasn't a complete joke and the thing with jokes is that you never know how they are going to end.”
Meanwhile, Inter chief executive Ernesto Paolillo revealed that two new players are likely to arrive in January, although Messi won't be one of them.
La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Inter will step up their interest in Gareth Bale after last night's performance at San Siro and that they are also keeping tabs on Andrea Barzagli, the Wolfsburg centre-back.
Were we really that good? I think its more to do with Bremen and Tottenham playing badly. We were really good but not as good as the article says IMO. -------------------------------------------------------- Blog: Irresistible Inter
Rafa Benitez promised to improve Inter’s style of play. Last night’s spectacular showing against Tottenham suggests he’s a man of his word, as Scott Fleming writes
It was one of the first things Rafa Benitez said when he arrived at Inter in June. “Jose Mourinho did a great job and Inter had the perfect season. But I am a different type of Coach, I like to win playing good football.”
At the time it seemed a somewhat glib statement. Partly because in his six years at Anfield Benitez was associated with many things, zonal marking, squad rotation, frosty relations with players, but never good football.
The other problem was that Mourinho’s Inter weren’t the anti-football acolytes Rafa seemed to be suggesting they were. History might remember them as the side that parked the bus at the Nou Camp in the Champions League semi-final, and it’s true that they knew how to grind out an ugly 1-0 win.
However, it’s also true that they scored 75 goals in Serie A last season, seven more than anyone else, that they comprehensively outplayed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge when everyone expected them to sit on their first leg lead, and that Wesley Sneijder, Diego Milito et al, played some very sexy football at times.
But did Mourinho’s men ever play with as much verve, elegance and ingenuity as Rafa’s Inter did in their savage destruction of Tottenham, albeit 10-man Spurs, in the first half last night? There was a style, swagger and nonchalance to the Nerazzurri’s play that was reminiscent of Barcelona at their best. Suddenly, Benitez’s claims of beautiful football appeared less like Jose baiting, and more like a promise that he intends to keep.
Thanks to the brilliance of Gareth Bale, Spurs fans will retain fond memories of their jolly to one of football’s grandest arenas, although if they’re honest they’ll admit they very much fancied their chances beforehand, and why not, considering Inter’s lacklustre displays of late and the absence of Esteban Cambiasso and Milito.
However, it was Inter who took to the field with supreme confidence, not the visitors, and the results were devastating. The Serpenti’s slick passing football was sublime, and everyone contributed, from Samuel Eto’o to young wingers Philippe Coutinho and Jonathan Biabiany to Sneijder, to ‘defensive midfielders’ Javier Zanetti and Dejan Stankovic, leaving the Londoners clueless as to where the threat would come from.
Inter’s third goal in particular was a masterpiece, 34 passes, a lightning quick interchange between Eto’o and Stankovic, a clever feint from the Serb, then a laser guided finish.
Benitez isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, the less said about his ‘milk in a bottle’ speech the better, but judging by last night’s evidence, he is a man of his word.
Shield i would not worry about ,they are only names trown about by the media ,if we get all the players they mention by now we would have more then hundred. the only thing that could save roma ,if the players get on the BERGAMOTTO capsuls . POPE BENEDICT got an them and say bergamotto is a gift of GOD
this is the statement "Il bergamotto è un vero dono di Dio". Parole pronunciate da Papa Benedetto XVI che ha ricevuto in dono dell'agrume tipico della provincia di Reggio Calabria, messina boi you got in to them already ?
Shield, we still co-own him. Regarding the Jan window, looks like we will attempt to remove the usual players Mancini, Suazo, Rivas and Muntari but an interesting rumour is that we are looking at Afellay from PSV. I highly doubt this though.
Shield, as I said before it's not like I'm banking on this rumour. As Briz said, we've heard so many names lately that if we take them seriously one would think we're buying 20 players in january. My reasoning was more towards the type of forward Vuci is and that he matches what we're looking for. It's pretty obvious Benitez wants a forward who can play on the flanks in a 4-2-3-1 formation but who is also capable of playing as lone striker up front if needed. Vucinic matches that description more than say Benzema, so it is more plausable. From being a more plausable solution to becoming a real solution there's a big difference. Vucinic is a fine player, but I'm not too sure he is the exact match for the player we're looking for, considering he does match some requirements as said above, but I think Benitez wants a player who can track back a little more often than Vucinic. Kuyt was the right example of player we need in there.
Holland international ace told to snub Liverfekkin'wankscum FC overtures
Wesley Sneijder hopes that international team mate Ibrahim Afellay will snub offers from Premiershit clubs in favour of a reunion at Inter Milan.
Liverfekkin'wankscum and Manchester United remain the 24-year-old's preferred destinations despite interest from some of Europe's elite including Bayern Munich and Juventus, who will no doubt be buoyed by today's announcement from PSV Eindhoven that a contract extension was "unrealistic".
But Sneijder, who was part of Holland's side that reached the World Cup final this summer, hopes that midfield cohort will link up with him at the San Siro, with PSV expected to cash in on Afellay in the January transfer window.
He said: "Afellay is ready for the next step.
"He has to leave Holland and I believe that he would adapt himself very well at Inter.
"I have spoken to him personally. He knows what we think about him here at Inter."
Moratti: 'Sneijder to sign next week' Wesley Sneijder “should sign a contract extension next week,” said President Massimo Moratti, ending Manchester United speculation.
The Inter midfielder and Ballon d’Or hot favourite has been heavily linked with United in the English media recently.
“Negotiations have reached a good stage. I think that Sneijder should sign a contract extension next week,” Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.
He was speaking ahead of tonight’s Serie A clash against Sampdoria, which last season ended in a 0-0 draw.
Jose Mourinho famously caused controversy that day when he made the ‘handcuffs’ gesture after two players were sent off in the first half.
“It was folklore,” smiled Moratti. “I like the way Rafa Benitez replied to those questions in the Press conference – that he’ll only bring his glasses, as he can’t see very well.
“With Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini you have to make sure that you defend well. It’s no coincidence that last term we only picked up one point against Sampdoria.”
Are you watching, Frank? I like the fact that you guys finally have a pattern to your play, though no doubt you would prefer to win ugly rather than to drop points however elegantly you play.
Samuel Eto'o snatched a late equaliser after Sampdoria had threatened to end Inter's unbeaten home record after 18 months.
The Nerazzurri were a Jekyll & Hyde outfit in the Champions League on Wednesday, thrashing 10-man Tottenham 4-0 for an hour before eventually winning only 4-3. Sampdoria went one worse, leading 1-0 away to Metalist only to lose 2-1 after the Ukrainians had a man sent off.
Dejan Stankovic joined Diego Milito, Thiago Motta, MacDonald Mariga, Amantino Mancini and David Suazo on the treatment table. Esteban Cambiasso returned in the only change from the side that faced Spurs. Samp had Stefano Lucchini suspended in defence, while Franco Semioli was sidelined.
Last season this tie was controversial, as Jose Mourinho protested at two red cards in the first half by making a 'handcuffs' gesture during their goalless encounter. Samp have only won here seven times in Serie A, plus 14 draws and 33 defeats. The last victory was an epic 4-3 result in December 1996.
Wesley Sneijder tried to take advantage of the pouring rain by hitting a snapshot that squirmed out of Gianluca Curci's grasp after two minutes, but the goalkeeper was able to get it under control. Antonio Cassano attempted the same with Julio Cesar.
Stefano Guberti blasted just over from the edge of the box, but Lucio had a great chance on nine minutes when Coutinho chipped a pass over the defence for his volley that Curci parried from point-blank range.
Luciano Zauri was fortunate not to score an own goal when Lucio's cross came through to hit his ankle and go out for a corner. At the other end only an acrobatic Lucio clearance managed to stop Samp's dangerous counter-attack.
Julio Cesar performed an incredible save on 32 minutes! Cassano still managed to squeeze a chipped cross from the byline between two defenders, which Guberti nodded back into the six-yard box for Pazzini's flick, but somehow the goalkeeper caught it cleanly from point-blank range.
Coutinho went on a mazy run past two defenders to test Curci at the near post and Eto'o hit the side-netting on the rebound. Coutinho fired over as he came sliding on to Douglas Maicon's assist under pressure.
Vladimir Koman suddenly found acres of space down the right and pulled back for Cassano, but Javier Zanetti needed a desperate challenge to close him down.
After the restart Pazzini brilliantly hooked a long pass, but Walter Samuel's challenge was decisive before he could pull the trigger.
Inter thought they had scored on 58 minutes, as Coutinho smartly pulled back for Maicon, but although the angled drive beat Curci, Zauri was ready for the crucial goalline clearance.
Instead it was Sampdoria who took the lead thanks to a moment of magic created by Cassano. He burst down the right after Cristian Chivu's clumsy attempt at protecting the ball and chipped a cross for Guberti's volley from nine yards. Julio Cesar got his hand to it, but the soaking wet ball squirmed over his body.
Moments later Curci fumbled a Coutinho cross-shot and got it under control before Eto'o could pounce. Inter were unbeaten on home turf in all competition since November 2008, so this was an unusual situation for the Nerazzurri to be in.
Coutinho again tested Curci, this time the goalkeeper sticking out a foot to parry from close range. Curci then flung himself at a Maicon cross to flap it off the heads of both Eto'o and Goran Pandev, but in landing he aggravated an existing calf injury.
He had to come off and was replaced by Junior Da Costa, making his Serie A debut at San Siro. He was beaten within 90 seconds.
Cambiasso spread the play for Coutinho down the left, who flashed a cross to the near post where Eto'o lifted his foot for a volley from a couple of yards.
Da Costa did manage to parry a Cambiasso header, but at the other end Koman horribly wasted a counter.
Inter could've won it at the death, but Maicon nodded a Sneijder free kick on to the roof of the net. So could Sampdoria, but Pazzini fired well wide from a promising position. Inter: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Chivu (Santon 77); Zanetti, Cambiasso; Biabiany (Pandev 63), Sneijder, Coutinho (Obi 88); Eto'o
Sampdoria: Curci (Junior Da Costa 78); Zauri, Volta, Gastaldello, Ziegler; Guberti (Marilungo 71), Palombo, Tissone (Poli 67), Koman; Cassano, Pazzini
