According to reports in Italy and Spain, Barcelona are lining up a bid for Inter Milan hardman Marco Materazzi.

Incoming Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola is ready to revolutionise his squad next season, and last week it was reported that he was ready to let the following 11 senior players leave: Gudjohnsen, Ronaldinho, Pinto, Henry, EdmÃƒÂlson, Giovani, Ezquerro, Thuram, Oleguer, TourÃƒÂ© and Jorquera.

One of GuardiolaÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s primary concerns is to toughen up the Blaugrana defence, which has conceded far too many goals this season.
With the 36-year-old veteran Lilian Thuram set to leave, and Gabriel Milito out for at least six months with a damaged anterior cruciate ligament injury, Guardiola is reportedly looking to bring in InterÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Marco Materazzi to partner Carles Puyol at the heart of defence.

The Matrix has had a miserable campaign at San Siro. After missing most of the first half of the season due to a thigh injury, he has been very poor in 2008. He was widely criticised last Sunday after the 2-2 draw with Siena, when he stole a late penalty off regular taker Julio Cruz, only to then miss it, an error which means the Scudetto race with Roma goes down to the final weekend.
Materazzi will turn 35 in a few months, and Inter may be prepared to let him leave, considering the presence of a host of top class centre backs at the club, including Walter Samuel, Ivan Cordoba and Christian Chivu.

The ex-Perugia and Everton man was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in June 2007.

Lets see what Matarrese thinks about this, since he like to be a coherent person. I'd like to know what the Roma guys think about this too.

Inter Tifosi 'Finale di Coppa Italia non a Roma'

Il tifo organizzato dell'Inter reagisce al divieto di trasferta a Parma di domenica prossima prendendosela con il presidente della Lega Calcio Antonio Matarrese, considerato il principale responsabile del provvedimento adottato oggi dal prefetto di Parma. E chiedono che la finale di Coppa Italia tra Inter e Roma, in programma sabato 25 maggio allo Stadio Olimpico, sia spostata dalla Capitale per essere giocata in campo neutro. La Curva Nord, in particolare, "aspetta di vedere la coerenza del signor Matarrese che, dopo essersi schierato per l'equitÃƒÂ di trattamento dei tifosi ospiti a Catania e Parma, dovrÃƒÂ quantomeno invocare la medesima equitÃƒÂ per la finale di Coppa Italia, dove i tifosi della Roma potranno usufruire del palese vantaggio di disputare una finale in casa in gara unica". Anche sui siti frequentati dagli ultras nerazzurri sono in molti a chiedere la stessa "par condicio" invocata per questa domenica di campionato.

Presumably it would be just about as logical to ask Inter to play their game with Parma in Catania too - just to keep everything "coherent." Or perhaps we could play the Catania game in Parma. I mean, it's simply not fair that you didn't have to play Catania on the last day of the season with their future in the balance like we do.
