Official: Quaresma Joins Inter
The official word is out! Inter Milan have finally captured Portuguese international, Ricardo Quaresma for €18 million from Porto.

According to the Porto official website, the transfer saga involving Ricardo Quaresma has come to an end after it was confirmed that he has joined Jose Mourinho at Inter.

Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to bring Quaresma to the San Siro and after the draw against Sampdoria, it seemed very unlikely the winger would arrive as Inter president, Massimo Moratti stated the club do not require his services.

The Special One was clearly disappointed by this, but apparently he has convinced Moratti to open his bank account once more to sign Quaresma.

The financial details of the deal were also released and it stipulates one of Inter's players going in the opposite direction. The Nerrazzuri will pay Porto €18.6 million, plus another €6 million in performance-based bonuses, while also including young Portuguese midfielder, Vitor Hugo Pélé, with the 20 year old going to Porto on a permanent transfer.

Pélé, considered a bright prospect and budding talent, is valued at about €6 million meaning that the total valuation for Quaresma stands at €30.6 million.

It now seems that Mourinho has all the pieces to his Inter puzzle after bringing in Amatino Mancini, Sulley Muntari, and now Ricardo Quaresma in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Porto have lost one of their stars and it is not yet known if they have lined up a replacement for him before the transfer market closes.

Even during his stormy ride at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho started with two largely trouble-free years but in his new job managing Internazionale he is already in public dispute with the men who run the club after just two months.
A 1-1 draw at Sampdoria in the new manager's Serie A debut has caused friction with Inter's president, Massimo Moratti, over transfer targets. Mourinho wants the Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma, a signing a sceptical Moratti says is "extremely unlikely". "I respect their opinion on Quaresma, but mine is different," said Mourinho. "His pace, his quality, his dribbling could be very useful and I have been saying this for months."

"We don't need Quaresma," countered Morrati. "Inter played well in attack. We can consider that a good result. It's not like England here, there is always this constant level of pressure and no easy games, but I think Mourinho dealt well with it. It could be a good lesson for him."

With the transfer deadline looming, Mourinho seems resigned to failure, having already missed out on Chelsea's Frank Lampard. "If the club say Quaresma cannot come, I respect this decision," he said. "I will work with the team I have."

Since his arrival in June the Portuguese coach has been praised by players, directors, press and even opposition teams for his training methods. But after the opening draw he had to deal with his first critics in the Italian media.

"Maybe I am not the right coach for this Italian type of post-match analysis," he told reporters after the game. "I would hate to read in the newspapers tomorrow that Inter were bad for only getting a point. They should instead praise Sampdoria for their performance. However, I'm ready for anything."

Inter were missing five injured defenders, a point Mourinho was quick to stress. "I knew it was going to be tough as we had to reshuffle. The midfielder Esteban Cambiasso was our only option in central defence. I agree we were shaky at the back, but I had no other choice. There is no need to panic after a draw in a difficult game in the first match of the season."

Still, it could have been worse - Inter's bitter rivals Milan lost 2-1 at home to newly promoted Bologna, despite Ronaldinho making his debut.

I saw the reception received by Quaresma from the Inter fans yesterday at his arrival in Milan. He seemed rather confused, as if he didnt expect such a reception. Anyway, after months of Quaresma here, Quaresma there....he's here!!

I too would give an A for this year's transfer market. I would give it an A+ had it not been for these 3 factors :

1) Having lost Pele in full
2) Didn't sell anyone. I would have much preferred to see us getting some cash for Suazo, instead of just a loan. YET, if the reports of us having an option on DI Maria for next year are true, than its more than worth it.
3) For dragging this whole Quaresma deal for 3 months.

I'm difficult to please, but an A is an A.

Oh, maybe I should make a 4th point by saying that Figo should have been thrown out of Appiano too, but I guess thats asking too much.

I'm fearing the worst. We all know that Quaresma is an inconsistent type of player, so getting him was always going to be a gamble. Now, what does he do to at least avoid bad luck?? He goes to pick none other than the number 77!! You guys remember who last took that number before Quaresma, right? None other than fuckin Francesco Coco, who we also took a big gamble on by swapping him with Pirlo...........We're fucked.
