Looks like we are close to signing Lassana Diarra on a free transfer - he just completed his medical.
Not a bad move considering he is still 29, however I don't think he is 100% fit as he hasn't played a match since August.
We may have lost out on Cerci (could be going to Milan) - Podolski is the alternative.

Podolski: 'Forza Inter!'

Lukas Podolski is in Milan to complete his loan move from Arsenal to Inter. “I spoke to Roberto Mancini, a great Coach.”

The World Cup winning Germany international touched down at Linate airport at 21.05 GMT and was interviewed by Sky Sport Italia.

“I spoke to Mancini and think he’s a great Coach. He wanted me and I’m happy to be here. I know Serie A, it’s a very competitive League.

“I want to help the team get into the Champions League. Do I have a message for the fans? I am happy, Forza Inter and we hope to have a great season.”

It’s reported Podolski agreed to take a pay cut in order to help push the initial loan deal through.

He’s set to undergo a medical tomorrow morning and could well face Juventus next week.

A decent start to the mercato. I would have liked to have seen Cerci sign for us, but Milan were in a better position, not to mention Thohir likes players from the EPL (more marketable). Let's see if Podolski can score three against Juve

i never really understood the appeal of podolski. his left foot is one of the best shooting foots in the business, but he always seems to hang on the edge of teams.

I think Podolski might be a good signing for Inter. At 29 he's still at his peak, and still has 2-3 very good seasons in him. I think he'll do good. If he's earned 121 caps for Germany, scoring 47 goals, it must mean something. Plus, German players have generally always done well in the Italian league.

Yes it's really a pity we missed two really really good opportunities.

This game has 2 faces ... one which showed an Inter that was clearly very worried and over respectful towards a stronger Rubentus side. The other is the face of a team that has the courage to try and play against anyone with good personality.

Deal done for Shaqiri. To be honest, I am really surprised he decided to join us even though Liverfekkin'wankscum offered more money to the club and player at the last moment. With what little I have seen of him in the world cup, he is a very good player. Poldi, Icardi and Shaqiri with Kovacic behind, that's exciting!

We need some defensive reinforcements.

Do you not think Shaqiri is that 'midfielder', Lomba - and that his signing will allow Minchio to play Kovacic further back in the midfield proper? I thought it was glaring in the first half against Rube that you lacked a technical midfielder who could help you build from the back. I'm expecting to see Kovacic used there much more, especially now Hernanes seems back in the picture too.

OMG! It looks like it is happening, Shaqiri is joining us and on a free loan! (Mandatory option to buy of at least 16mil.) Really surprised and shocked. First Podolski now Shaqiri and with us not performing in the champions league or close to qualifying at the moment. Talk is that Mancio has had a lot to do with convincing these guys in joining us. Mancio and especially Ausilio are working some magic...
Also talk of Motta coming back with Osvaldo out (Lavezzi anyone)?
