Milan are considering selling Kaka to fund a series of signings in 2009 starting with Philippe Mexes, according to the latest rumours. Kaka is a talismanic figure for the Diavolo and the club have insisted that he is not for sale at any price. However, Manchester City are known to be interested in the Brazilian ace and could be willing to shatter transfer records to bring him to Eastlands. While Milan would be reluctant to let Kaka leave, there are suggestions that they could accept his sale in order to revitalise other areas of the side, given the recent form of Ronaldinho.

The first target should the Rossoneri cash in Kaka may be Roma defender Mexes, who has regularly been linked with a switch to Italy's fashion capital. Milan's ageing defence has been hit by injury problems and the French international could be a much-needed shot in the arm.

Sportmediaset insists that Milan would need to pay Roma around Ã‚Â£25m for Mexes, who has played 121 games for Roma since arriving in 2004. Although that is a vast sum for a defender, it may be a third of the fee City would pay for Kaka. Real Madrid defensive star Sergio Ramos is another possible target should Milan decide to splash the cash in 2009.

Here's the original interview where all these latest rumors of Kaka leaving stemmed from. When asked if he'd like to play there, he replied (in a nutshell) : "The Premiershit is the best 'championship' in the world and one day maybe, I don't know when, it would be great to play there. For now I'm happy at Milan, but you never know"

It appears like the standard courtesy type of response when prompted by Sky if he'd like to play in England, saying "yeah sure it would be great", that kind of thing, but he doesn't exactly sound entirely convincing either that he is committed to Milan. This makes a change from when he said at the beginning of this season that he'd love to captain Milan and finish his career there. Are you Milanisti worried that The Bald Fuck could decide to cash in?

maybe, who knows? i don't call the shots. it certainly is a business and stars are worth most when they are being transferred. so kaka would be worth more to man city than he is to us, in that he would sell more shirts for them. so he may be worth Ã‚Â£75mil for city, but much less than that for us. if that's the case, they might well sell him. it will come down to kaka, though. anyway, doesn't really bother me as pato (and seedorf) are more valuable players anyway.

i think kaka is better off staying, though, for his career's sake.

i can't see kaka' leaving milan for the money, and i can't see us selling him for the money. i'm not worried at all.
