Gattuso suffers freak fracture!

Another bizarre injury has struck the Azzurri, as Gennaro Gattuso fell into the dug-out and with multiple fractures to his left hand.

The Milan midfielder was taking part in a friendly run-out with the Beretti team of unemployed players at the Gradisca d’Isonzo training ground this afternoon.

He tumbled into the dug-out where the Italian bench was placed, hitting his head and left hand.

Gattuso was taken to hospital for X-Rays, where he was found to have sustained multiple fractures to his left hand and wrist. He has already undergone surgery to reduce the breaks.

Obviously this rules him out of Wednesday’s encounter with Georgia.

It is the latest odd injury to strike the Italy squad during these 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Fabio Grosso fractured two ribs during a fall in the 2-1 win in Cyprus last night and Alessandro Gamberini dislocated his right shoulder just 60 seconds into the same match.

Gamberini’s shoulder was in such a bad state that he had to be put under general anaesthetic in the local hospital for medics to pop it back into place.

Wenger To Join Milan Next Season - Report

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is being tipped as one of the candidates who may take over from Carlo Ancelotti at Milan next season, according to Il Giorno. The Rossoneri have started poorly this term and reports in Italy suggest that this may well be Ancelotti’s final campaign at the helm.

Il Giorno claims the Via Turati-based club have been looking at a number of possible replacements and Wenger is the latest name to have popped up on the Rossoneri’s managerial shortlist. Marco Van Basten and Frank Rijkaard, who both played at the club, are also amongst the favourites.

Milan are looking for a fresh approach and a more youthful side and the Arsenal man may be the answer to their coaching questions.

The Milan-based newspaper has also reported that an agent on behalf of Massimo Moratti tried to hire the Frenchman in 2005, before the Inter president went for Roberto Mancini.

That same agent is now trying to make enquiries over Wenger’s availability. The Rossoneri have a good relationship with the Gunners following the arrival of Mathieu Flamini and Philippe Senderos and may offer the Arsenal coach ridiculous amounts of money in order to lure him to San Siro.

Ancelotti’s time is running out on the bench and he needs to begin improving the club’s fortunes if he is to keep his place.

Out of curiosity, why would his tactics be run to the ground in Italy? He has been very successful against Italian clubs in the CL in the last few years and while that is not really a measure of how he'd fare in the league, its the only one we have.
Its only recently he's taken to constantly building for the future (which seemingly never comes); when he started off with them he built a pretty good team which was the only one in the country able to put up a fight against Man U and its millions. If he were to take up a job with us, he'd obviously have to change his current tactics to match our ambition.

Agreed with u on the tactics there, I do not question that I think he's tactically astute and definitely leagues ahead of Ferguson in that aspect...so from that perspective , I just do not see him failing in a tactical league like Serie A, his record against Italian teams is quite impressive.... you can argue that since 2004, when they had their undefeated team, he's changed his philosophy 180 degrees...with this 'youth or bust' bullshit, before that he was different as he built a team that was winning the league every other year or so...the only constant over the 2 period is his team's legendary annual choke in CL but thats another story...so considering the change he's underwent, I'd tend to see the more recent one as the more accurate reflection of his philosophy, which wouldnt cut it at the likes of Milan, Real, Barca..etc. I do not see him going anywhere anyways and we'll likely get an ex-player like u mentioned (and Im not that impressed with whats available too)

Lets see how Senderos does tomorrow, I'd throw him in the lineup for the Genoa game anyways because I've had it with that idiot Kaladze...more importantly is the return of our Golden Boy and I pray that he passes the fitness test tomorrow without any problems as we desperately need him back

Just struck me that it would be hilarious if Wenger did make it to Milan; the guys at Setanta would have a field day with their voyeur jokes.

And yeah, Senderos should get the start over Kaladze for sure. I guess thats why Maldini is even playing tomorrow.
