AC Milan general spiel 2.0
we're -2 by the head to head technicality, we've had no news at all recently really so what have we got to say? apart from the rumour saying we've wrapped up Seydou Keita from Barca.
Paolo Maldini "Il Sogno di ogni attaccante e' segnare il piu' bella gol della storia. L'incubo e' incontrare il miglior difensore del mondo."
Francesco Totti "Never give up Pippo,You are an example for all of us to never give up."
sucks that we lost the derby. allegri has constantly screwed up in the second half of the season by playing with 4 industrious midfielders that can't hold on to the ball even if their lives depended on it.
there's one major advantage of playing the diamond formation, and it is holding possession in the middle because you have more players there . there is no natural width in the formation so you have to hold the ball long enough to allow your fullbacks to work their way up the pitch to offer themselves as extra options to attack. but if you play 4 midfielders that cannot hold the ball, it becomes ridiculously easy to out-maneuver the team anywhere on the field.
allegri has let pirlo walk away and he has handed the scudetto to juventus. and now, he's had his panties twisted by seedorf speaking the truth about the way allegri makes the team play and he has told him to eat shit in the stands. our 2 most influential midfielders of the past decade have been discarded with no proper replacements. how can berlusconi tolerate such bullshit?
allegri has made us a solid and functional team. but you can get away with it if you are winning. if you are not pulling any results, you'll get called out for the mediocrity and you should either evolve or pack your bags.
credit to juve, they deserved the scudetto. going unbeaten is no feat to be ignored. although i still feel that if we had schooled them with muntari's goal this campaign would've been ours. but i'll still blame allegri for deciding to make the team sit back in the second half and letting juve attack us without any formidable response. it is gutless. you cannot grind out wins against quality teams. you must dominate and exert your superiority.
perhaps the only shining light in these past few months of darkness is the rise of de sciglio. apparently he played as a right footed LB in the primavera, he started 2 games as RB in the league and was solid. nothing fantastic, but he did his job. at his age and experience, that's all you want. but when he came on against inter today, he was absolutely fantastic. he got stuck in, was never defeated in tackle and he had a calming authority with the ball. perhaps he could've closed maicon down for that 4th goal, but maicon is a freak of nature and not even buffon would've stopped that shot.
grazie ragazzi, it will be sad to see so many old faces depart, mainly seedorf and nesta. i will miss those guys, it has been a privilege to watch them consistently for nearly 10 years. i feel that either of them would make great coaches, and i hope that one day in the future they can lead milan to glory off the field.
Gennaro Gattuso has suggested that Milan will have to lower the average age of the squad ahead of next season. The Rossoneri lost the Scudetto last night when they were defeated 4-2 to Inter and Juventus defeated Cagliari to win the title.
“We have to congratulate Juventus because they had a great season and they grew Sunday after Sunday,” the veteran midfielder stated. “We really have to take our hats off to them.
“We were penalised by a lot of injuries that I can’t explain the reason for and we didn’t have the same mentality as they had. “This Milan squad is a little old and reinforcements are always needed – even when you win.”
Many of the side’s ageing stars are coming towards the end of their contracts, including the 34-year-old Gattuso who has missed most of the season with an eye problem.
“I’ll speak to Vice-President Adriano Galliani about my future,” added the former Rangers and Salernitana man.
“It’s been an odd season for me, but I still want to play. If that isn’t possible then I’ll stay at home with my kids and be a dad. “It’s not important for me to have a contract, I just need to feel alive.”
Oh look, another cheapo Bosman... and another flop...
Mali international Bakaye Traore signs for AC Milan / 9 May 2012 / Last updated at 16:28 GMT
Mali midfielder Bakaye Traore, 27, has signed for Italian giants AC Milan, his French club AS Nancy have announced. The Eagle joins the seven-time European champions on a three-year deal. Nancy's website stated that Traore agreed a move in April but was only keen for the move to become public once the club assured its Ligue 1 status.
"After what I went through, everything that's happening to me now feels particularly special," Traore told Fifa's website after signing for Milan. Traore is weeks away from the end of his three-year contract with Nancy, who lie 11th in the 20-team division. After Monday's round of league matches in France, Nancy are seven points clear of the relegation zone with two rounds of matches left to play.
Traore, who usually plays a defensive midfield role, was part of the Mali squad that finished third at the Africa Cup of Nations in February, as the Eagles registered their highest finish since 1972. He scored a vital winner in the group stages against Guinea, a result that eased the Malians' path to the knock-out stages of the competition.
Traore becomes the latest Malian to sign for a high-profile European club, following in the footsteps of Seydou Keita (Barcelona), Mahamadou Diarra (ex-Real Madrid) and Frederic Kanoute (Seville). Born in France, Traore spent his formative years at Amiens before joining fellow French side Nancy in 2009.
word on the playground is that gattuso and ambrosini will re-sign. moves that i do not understand. maybe gattuso, he still has some energy left, but i don't know why ambrosini hasn't retired by now.
flamini might re-sign as well, he had the second highest salary on the team after ibra, at 4.5m a year. his new contract will be around 1.7m from what i've read. smart move on his part, although it's silly on our part.
i don't know what to think of this traore guy. it's true that we need another anchorman because van bommel is leaving, but i always take a free signing with a grain of salt. i don't think we've had a successful free signing as yet. maybe yepes last season. and nocerino, although he wasn't free.
At his best, he was probably the best CB I've seen. You could see he was putting an extraordinary strain on himself this season to hang on at a high level, but he could still cut it.
Right decision to step away from top level football at this point before his standard drops too much.
With Nesta leaving, and Seedorf and Inzaghi leaving, Milan will have cleared themselves of their 2005 team that was one of the best I've seen and one of the most enjoyable to watch.
Milan now have no players left that I like and have managed to replace the great, likable players they used to have with mediocre players who also happen to be pricks.
I'm really sad to see Nesta leave. One of the greatest Italian defenders ever. He made tackling look like an art. It's shame he was never really able to do it for the nt, though. He will be missed.
Everything that you're about to read is secondary to this. The first and foremost thing that I want you all to know is I played and won for "us". Playing and winning without sharing the emotion is nothing, but you and me, us, we did it all together. We hoped, suffered, celebrated and rejoiced. We lifted cups and won titles together in our hearts. We have always been on the same wavelength. And no one can ever take that away from us.
Dear Milan fans, when I got to the club you didn't know this. I was in a hotel room and couldn't leave so as not to compromise the negotiations between Juventus and Milan. The first weeks, the first months, you studied me and we watched each other.
Then we fell in love. That evening against Torino. You were angry, things weren't going well on the field and you were in silence. I started warming up and the roar you gave me made us win the match, pushing us into the Champions League and towards that final in Manchester. These memories as well as all those who consoled me in the difficult months of 2004 and 2005 and the shivers down the spine that we felt on 9 August 2006, my birthday against Stella Rossa will always be in the bedside drawer of my heart.
Athens. Football given to us for one reason: me and you, us, we wanted is so strongly, so intensely that it had to be given. Of course the reality went beyond our wildest dreams. 2 goals, against Liverfekkin'wankscum, 2 years after Istanbul, the seventh Champions League. Destiny gave us more than we had dared hope.
Today I would like to thank with affection and emotion President Berlusconi and Adriano Galliani: their electricity and their ability to transmit emotion for me made me stronger and pushed me beyond any and all limits. But I also want to give a thought to those who, from the youth sector to all the wonderful clubs that I've played for, helped me to become the man and the player that I am today.
Thank you Milan, thank you football. Allow me to call you my own, the people of Via Turati, from Milanello to the offices to the phone operators to the warehouse workers, the physiotherapists, the doctors, the cooks, from the stadium to the changing room. All the people who saw me on Sunday with the short sleeves and shook with the hope that I would score. Ciao Carlo Ancelotti, I won a lot with you. Ciao to my wonderful fans who followed me the world over with affection and passion. Ciao to my team mates from today and yesterday.
Last of all allow me to thank my family, my mother Marina, my father Giancarlo, Simone and Tommaso. I never would have got here without you. You're my strength. My dear Milan, I'm leaving you only because that the way life goes. The moment has come and you know it as well.
