Let's face it, Pirlo was practically a non-factor for us last year. I remember the Parma winner he scored in the early days of the year but apart from that, whether its strictly down to injuries, age or simply Allegri's system, he was hardly a difference-maker last year so, in that sense, anybody coming in who can contribute regularly will be an upgrade. In alot of ways, we can safely say we've won the scudetto last year without him. Montolivo would be a good move but I don't know if he's the type of player to give our midfield the edge we need in CL

if it is a like for like replacement (and irrelevant to cancer-curing Mr. X), mount olive is nothing but a downgrade from first class to the lavatory.

ganso looks to have genius by him, i saw all of brazil's games bar the last one and i watched some of santos' games last season, ganso has those moments. but he is far from the finished product, he needs a lot of time to become a refined player.

i would rather have pastore.

Mathieu Flamini has admitted that the Scudetto is not at the top of Milan’s objectives for this season. “We want the Champions League.”

The Rossoneri comfortably won the domestic title last term, but retaining that crown is only a secondary thought at this moment.

“It’s obvious that Milan are focused on the Champions League,” explained the Frenchman to Milan Channel.

“It’s an important target for the club and the squad. We need to try to get as far as we can in this competition.

“Winning something every year is very important in this game. Last term we won the Scudetto and we need to win again in 2011-12.

“It’s vital that we go forward in the right direction.”

The midfielder, formerly of Arsenal, is currently sidelined for 15 days with a muscle injury.

It's good to see a consensus among our players that CL is an absolute priority this year. I think last year's exit was embarrassing and you can say we even disrespected the competition a bit for a club of Milan's pedigree by not attaching it enough importance. Not that I don't value scudetto, but 1 CL = 3 or more scudetti in my books and it's simply the strongest competition in all of football.

It's good we're focusing on it this year from the get go or at least that's the vibe coming out of the Milan camp. But we simply don't have enough weapons right now to win it, we're fine for Serie A, but for CL we have a serious shortage of quality in midfield which I think requires us to get 2 names there. We also need to offload some of the fringe players we have as we have a good 30-32 players in the first team now which is ridiculous.
