Toni Set For Milan Move?
AC Milan are set to begin negotiations with Bayern Munich in the hope of signing their star striker Luca Toni, according to La Repubblica.

The Rossoneri have identified a top-class centre forward as their number one priority in this summerÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s transfer market.

Toni only signed for Bayern Munich last summer from Fiorentina, however he has been a huge hit in Germany, and is currently the joint top-scorer of the Bundesliga with 14 goals.

Milan are ready to bid Ã¢â€šÂ¬10m for the giant hitman, as they aim to begin their rebuilding process following a hugely disappointing season.

The chances of Toni moving to Milan are said to be promising as the Milan vice president is known to have a good relationship with Bayern supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

A possible obstacle however could be ToniÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s current annual salary of almost Ã¢â€šÂ¬6m a season. The striker, who turns 31 in a couple of months, may also wait and see if Milan qualify for next seasonÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s Champions League before consenting to the move.

Toni has never played in EuropeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s premier club competition, and Milan are struggling to qualify as they are currently fifth in Serie A, four points behind fourth-placed Fiorentina.

Still want Toni? I'd have wanted him for this season but now it seems a little late...It just might work out; give Paloschi time to mature...

i agree, though i am with rob in that what makes this so frustrating is that he would have been the perfect signing for us last summer. and we were inches away, too, but old man silvio vetoed the transfer. now luca is a year older and he won't come any cheaper and we had an (almost) trophiless season because we lacked firepower. at least this is a clear sign that we are getting rid of gilafucker.

is toni's salary figured gross or net? if it's gross then we won't have any problems with it.

I don't see Bayern selling him though...I mean they just got him and he's the top scorer in the Bundesliga...If they have a replacement lined up, maybe we should target him...the replacement ie..

It is frustrating to think about the players we could've had if the management had half a brain between them...Toni, Ribery, Zambro, Buffon and even Ze Roberto...could've extended the winning run and almost seamlessly at that...oh well, we probably will get them later...yes milano, when they're 30+ ha ha

I think Luca would be a perfect stopgap for 2-3 years for Paloschi to develop. I still think Gila's a very good player who's been a bit unfortunate. Send him to Roma, I am sure we could "bring" him back... I think his characteristics are very good with regards to playing off of Pato and Kaka..

Toni would be great, but I completely agree how stupid we'd look for not getting him last summer instead. Either way, we definitely need a physical presence in attack, somebody who can finish well. That would perfectly compliment Kaka and Pato. I won't mind selling Gila if we can make the big signing upfront, I think we'll have Paloschi in the first team next year since its only UEFA + Serie A, and our management is usually too cheap to invest in more than one attacker, so we'll only see one enforcement in attack, which is OK provided we get a GK, fullback, and at least one great mid and another good one, and maybe 1-2 more good bench options
