ROMA - Ricordi amari, molto. Di storie, fatti, emozioni e ricordi da raccontare ne ha tanti, specie ora che è nel dimenticatoio. Dalla sua esplosione a Torino all'incidente d'auto che lo fece finire in coma e compromise irrimediabilmente la sua carriera, passando per le persone che lo hanno aiutato e quelle che invece hanno fatto di tutto per farlo sprofondare in un incubo di frustrazioni e amarezze: Gigi Lentini (lo ricorderete) si racconta domani su Premium Calcio, alle 21, ai microfoni de "La tribù del calcio", la rubrica curata da Paolo Ziliani. E sono ricordi segnati dall'amarezza. Enorme.

L'ex giocatore di Toro e Milan riparte dalla notte del 3 agosto 1993, quando di ritorno da un'amichevole giocata dai rossoneri a Genova, si schianta con la sua Porsche a Villanova d'Asti e finisce in coma. "Dopo l'incidente non riconoscevo più le persone e le cose, ricominciai a parlare come un bambino - racconta - Ora posso dirlo, quell'incidente ha bruciato in un attimo la mia carriera. Mi ha tolto tutto".

E sottolinea che anche le persone, però, hanno inciso, nel bene e nel male. Lentini ricorda Fabio Capello. "Anche lui ha contribuito a stroncarmi - continua -. Nella finale con l'Ajax, nel '95, stavo veramente bene, ma lui non mi fece giocare: quella notte, a Vienna, decisi di mollare per sempre il grande calcio. Avevo 25 anni".

Un altro personaggio del calcio che Lentini ricorda poco volentieri è Marco Materazzi, oggi bandiera dell'Inter. "Non ci sono le parole per descriverlo - dice Lentini -. Una persona sleale. A quei tempi in campo c'erano meno telecamere e lui faceva di quelle cose che non si possono raccontare. Non è un giocatore di calcio".

Lentini racconta anche la grande sofferenza interiore patita al momento del passaggio dal Torino al Milan. "Lo ricordo come se fosse adesso, mi sentivo un traditore - ammette - Poi però è successo che ci siamo rimessi insieme, e anche il Toro mi ha scaricato. Avevo 31 anni, ero ancora giovane".

La figura forse più importante nella sua carriera è quella di Emiliano Mondonico: le loro strade s'intrecciano di continuo. "Mondonico è stato come un padre, per me - riconosce Lentini - l'ho amato e odiato. Ci insultavamo tutti i giorni". (24 febbraio 2011)

Massimiliano Allegri will not deny Monday’s Milan-Napoli is “a Scudetto battle, no matter how hard they try to hide that fact.”

Despite there being only a three-point gap between them, the Partenopei and Coach Walter Mazzarri have been eager to suggest their title chances are non-existent.

“This fixture is a Scudetto battle, no matter how hard they try to hide that fact,” declared Allegri.

Curiously, both tacticians are from the Tuscan town of Livorno.

“Mazzarri and I are both sanguine fellows, but he certainly expresses himself in a different way to my own personal style.

“I don’t think you always have to raise your voice or get angry, as there are different ways to show your authority.

“What I ask the Napoli Coach is to avoid getting sucked into controversy. Every now and then these issues can be fun, but sometimes I really don’t enjoy them.”

Mazzarri has been very vocal in recent weeks on refereeing errors and the Disciplinary Commission, which used video evidence to hand Ezequiel Lavezzi a three-match ban.

Edinson Cavani will bear even more of the responsibility for the Napoli attack and is fighting for the Capocannoniere title with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“Cavani is still a long way away from Ibrahimovic, even if he is an extraordinary player,” shrugged Allegri.

Milan legend Paolo Maldini is absolutely certain that Napoli striker Edinson Cavani will pose the biggest threat at San Siro this evening.

Cavani has scored 20 goals in Serie A this season and has turned Napoli into genuine title contenders with his prowess up front.

If Napoli win they will go level on points with the League leaders.

“It will be a difficult game,” Maldini said. “Napoli are living on the wings of enthusiasm and have nothing to lose because they didn't start with the objective of winning the Scudetto and now they have found a privileged position again.

“Cavani is the No 1 danger in the absence of Ezequiel Lavezzi.

“Milan must stop him as well as the teammates who will try to give him supplies.”

sometimes i forget that pato is only 21 and has a season blighted by injuries, but when i see him play like he did today i remember why we all were enamored by him in the first place. he was at his absolute best [in the second half] and it was a delight to watch. i think it was his best game all season, usually all his other goals were in a ibra-esque fashion; fuck around the whole game and make one glorious chance and get the plaudits on your side. but today, he had actual drive, a fire which is so unbecoming of the brazilians on our team. i'll also give him credit for the way he handles himself with the press, he says some really positive things which showcase the harmony in the squad.

Pato snubs title for Juventus
Milan’s Alexandre Pato has sidelined talk of the Scudetto after beating Napoli. “We’re just thinking about Juventus.”

The Brazilian inspired the Rossoneri to a 3-0 victory over the Azzurri at the Meazza this evening with a sparkling individual second half display.

Although the victory saw them move five points clear of Inter and six ahead of Napoli, Pato is not getting overly excited.

“We’re not thinking about the Scudetto,” said the Brazilian who won a penalty, set up the second and slotted home the third. “We’re focused on our next game against Juventus.”

The two giants meet on Saturday night in Turin in a tie that Milan will start as favourites, especially given Juve’s woeful form.

“I like playing in this team,” Pato continued. “There are great champions here, but they are not teammates, they are my brothers.

“I’m happy that we played a great game.

“I always want to play, but the Coach makes the decisions which he thinks are best for the team and I know I have to work hard.”

Pato started the game at a very wet Meazza alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho. Antonio Cassano remained on the bench throughout.

this whole season he has been low on confidence, but now he is getting it back. he has scored 11 goals in 17 games, of which he started 14. and he was playing like shit. with ibra slowing down, it's time for the pato show. this will be brilliant.
