Jesusfuckingchristalmighty, somebody fuckin shoot me, somebody fuckin shoot somebody, somebody give me a fuckin bomb or do a suicide bomb attack on these meetings or do something. Stefano, please, your the closet to New York aren't you, take one for the fucking team, bomb these people now, we'll look after and support your family until you get out. To fuck. FUCK ME.
I read that long ass article that ASR posted last night but was too tired to comment. If only we had someone crunch those numbers for us before because that read wouldve smashed whatever hopes we had in our transfer seasons. I like how it reconfirms that we have no negotiating skills whatsoever through numbers and how our shirt deal scores us less than 50% of what the Italian triumvirate nets. Also reconfirms what a leech Rosella is to us and how utterly useless and negative her presence is to the club. She gets wages for 1.1m?? If you gave me a quarter of that, i could do a better job. While our plans for a new stadium are a farce under Rosella, the revenue from one that would be purely owned by us is astonishing. At the same time, it really takes someone that's filthy fucking rich to save us.
Well what's the views on the proposed American take-over this morning? Giovanni, Stefano, do you State-siders have any thoughts on this or any knowledge on who exactly these people are? As usual lots of stories flying around but who knows what to believe.
As for our game tonight, should be handy one. The winners of this will face Inter in the semi's, I believe, so certainly a tough route to the final. Also, from looking at last nights game between Napoli v Inter, with over 50,000 there to watch it and both teams at full strength, it certainly appears that some people and some teams do care about the Coppa. I certainly wouldn't mind winning it again.
It seems as if Menez will be on the bench:

I think we all know what glad and fonz are thinking when they see this pic:
Wrap your lips around this, baby. It looks like you might have to put up with a bit of tooth action, though, which I can imagine is not to everyone's taste.
Some sites have their images rights protected, Tomasso, so silly fecktwits like you can't come along and rob them for the sake of immature sexual innuendo. RomaNews' website has also been acting up a lot lately, and I've notice that sometimes regular images don't work because of whatever way their images are saved in their servers directory. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. In this case I'm glad they don't.
Hard to get excited about the Coppa. Easy to enjoy beating Rube, though. They were awful and we were pretty tidy in the end. Vooch with a great individual goal (nicely assisted by Motta). I thought Perrotta had an especially tidy game in the second half too. And the defence all held up well. Rube are awful at the moment, though.
Enthusiastic pagelle from forzaroma: http://www.forzaroma.info/le-pagelle/77 ... lausi.html Rube were very poor, though, and all the more so because they kept Sissoko and Melo on throughout when they were desperately in need of a bit more quality in the middle of the pitch and had Aquilani and Marchisio on the bench. Don't shoot me for this, thredzo, but don't you think Vooch looks a little bit unfit at times? He looks so tired in the final stages of games. He and Menez in the first 20 minutes were excellent and his goal was superb, but I do think he looks tired when he plays the 90 minutes and it's an especial pity since you think his pace ought to be particularly lethal on the break in the closing stages of games.
This is from the offside. By far the most intelligent reader comment i've ever read:

Gollum_ASR [Moderator] 1 hour ago I was sitting on the shitter and I couldn't get some thoughts out of my head, so I wrote them out:
The parable of Rodrigo Taddei
Imagine playing against 11 Rodrigo Taddeis. Just imagine it. Are you frustrated yet?
In my real life away from this blog I play on a fairly successful intramural team that's won three championships in five years. I know, I know, it's just intramurals-- but it's competitive and tactical nonetheless. The core of the group is between the ages of 20 and 24 and most are from WOSL (Western Ontario Soccer League), either in tier 1 or tier 2. There's one man on the team who is decidedly not in this age group- he's a 38 year old neurology professor. He moves at about the speed of a fibrous poop through the bowels of a turtle and he has no 'skillz' to speak of whatsoever. Every year we hear the same complaints from some quarters that he's too slow, he does nothing, he should be replaced, he fouls too much, etc, etc. (Just like Taddei). But what most people don't know is that this man is a former Ajax youth product-- he knows how to play. (Just like Taddei).
Last year I tore my quad pretty bad and had to go in net; now usually I play the Totti role on our team (the strikerless striker), but I'm not a bad keeper when push comes to shove. Anyways, playing in net for a season really gave me a chance to observe the team and it really gave me an even higher appreciation for players like Taddei. You put him out on the field and suddenly the other team's turnovers go up by 20%, their mis-placed passes go up another 20%, their frustration goes up 20%, and their fouls go up 20%. These stats are not as tangible as goals or max speed or 'number of players beaten with the left foot while standing on your head and spinning counter-clockwise', but they are the dirty stats that win you games.
And sometimes it's as simple as keeping the shape of the team. It's intelligent, smart football. Sometimes you don't even need to make a challenge; you just need to be standing in the right place, cutting off the right passes. The goal of defending is not to stop everything coming at you - that's unrealistic - the goal of defending is to force the opposition to attempt the nearly impossible plays as often as possible. Crosses from the wrong angles, slow passes up the middle, lobbed balls into the box, etc. This is what Taddei brings to the table. He is always cutting off that angle that opposition players are looking for.
Now a lot of people complain about his cards and fouls and such... but really he's only gotten two red cards in six seasons at Roma-- that's pretty damn good for a player who does so much defensive work. (As a comparison, Perrotta in the same time period has received four). And the fouls he gives away are usually not that dangerous. I would even call most of them "smart". Fouling really is an art form-- it has everything to do with controlling the tempo of a match. It would be nice if football was all lollipops and pixie sticks, but that's just not how it works in the real world -- and especially not in Italian football! And IMO, tempo is the most important aspect of football-- but it's not so much the top end that's important, but more how well you can change the tempo when you need to. When teams are neutralizing each other, most of the time they're just battling for control of the tempo. But I digress...
OK, so defensively Rodrigo is a stud. Yipee! But I will also argue that he is a offensive dynamo as well:
In a successful team you need creative players and balance players- players whose only job is to do what's expected of them. It sounds boring, but that's the gist of it. Imagine roma as a car. A team of 11 Vuci's would go from 0 - 100 in 6 seconds, but it would also fall from 100 - 0 in 6 seconds. It would just be complete madness everywhere on the pitch. Players like Taddei and Brighi and Perrotta, however, keep the motor of the team running at 60 mph. Always. No matter what. That allows players like Totti and Vucinic to come in and inject some nitro and bring the team from 60 - 100. But if the attack fails, the team is still going at 60 mph and ready to fight defensively. It's also a hell of a lot easier for the creative players to take the car from 60 - 100 than it is for them to take it from 0 - 100. (Mirko is the exception to this rule... he only knows 0 - 100).
Here's the thing, you can't rate Taddei on the same gradient as someone like Totti, or even other wingers like Aaron Lennon and Theo Walcott, as they perform completely different functions. Creative players need balance players and balance players need creative players. Totti needs to be able to anticipate the runs of his team mates to send in his parade of glorious through-balls. So Taddei may not beat anyone 1 v 1, but he always gets to where he's expected to be. That's just as important in my books. It's very much the same with Perrotta and his oldschool overlapping runs. Balance players are like pawns in Totti's giant chess game, and Totti is fucking good at chess (metaphorically speaking). And sometimes the more "regular" his pieces are, the better he plays with them. The fact is that Totti and Taddei have a great understanding on the pitch, and you just can't buy understanding like that... sometimes I don't even know if you can develop it.
(Now when two creative players link up, there's usually a whole lot of compromise going on. Great players accept this; many simply talented players don't get it. And sometimes when you have too many creative players then it becomes a case of too many cooks in the kitchen-- everyone is compromising and no one is playing chess. And just as an aside, I'd like to point out the beauty of Spalletti's Roma... he basically turned the entire team into a balance and said (mostly) to Totti, "here you go, play chess").
Well, there is it: my long-winded exposition on the phenom that is Rodrigo Taddei. Much maligned in recent times on this blog, but a damn fine footballer in my books. I've never understood why he gets so much guff from some people, but I hope today he rubbed your noses in it!!
