Per il match contro la Juventus non sono stati convocati Juan, Perrotta e Pizarro. Il brasiliano e il cileno oggi hanno fatto differenziato, il centrocampista calabrese era assente. Menez c’è.
Convocati:
1 BOGDAN LOBONT 2 CICERO JOAO DE CESARE (CICINHO) 3 PAOLO CASTELLINI 5 PHILIPPE MEXES 8 RIBEIRO LEITE ADRIANO 9 MIRKO VUCINIC 10 FRANCESCO TOTTI 16 DANIELE DE ROSSI 17 JOHN ARNE RIISE 19 JULIO CESAR BAPTISTA 22 MARCO BORRIELLO 23 LEANDRO GRECO 25 GULLIERMO ENIO BURDISSO 27 JULIO SERGIO BERTAGNOLI 29 NICOLAS ANDRES BURDISSO 30 SIMPLICIO FABIO HENRIQUE 32 DONIEBER ALEXANDER MARANGON (DONI) 33 MATTEO BRIGHI 77 MARCO CASSETTI 87 ALEANDRO ROSI 94 JEREMY MENEZ
Ballscock, no Pizza. Ranieri has a big decision to make over starting Menez or not, now that Pizza is out. We need his creativity now and I think he has to start (through the middle in a 4-3-1-2). If he does, then I think it has to be one from Totti or Borriello who sits on the bench, as Vucinic clearly has to start being in such form and having been rested midweek, and also because, as Red pointed out, Juventus have no recognised right-back available, which will suit Mirko nicely. So one from Totti or Borriello on the panchina. I would start Borriello who could pose more of threat against the Juve backline. Either way, lets hope Ranieri goes for it and doesn't clog up the midfield with five defensive-midfielders or something.
A nice comment from Claudio on itunes here: Meglio Totti-Vucinic o Totti-Borriello?
I thought he slightly lost the plot when things were going badly earlier in the season and seemed to want to pick personal fights with all and sundry. This is the Claudio I prefer and admire.
The Italian Footballers' Association [AIC] has announced its intention to strike after negotiations over a collective bargaining agreement with the Lega Calcio broke down.
Serie A players had threatened to take industrial action two months ago, but the event was called off after mediation from the Italian Football Federation [FIGC].
A statement read: “The Serie A players have taken into consideration the approach shown by the Lega, who have turned down the proposal of the FIGC President, Giancarlo Abete [pictured], which is also shared by the AIC, to limit to just six points the negotiations of the Collective Agreement, with the exclusion of two other points (players out of squad and forced transfers), which from the started were not accepted by the AIC.
“Through their representatives, they have therefore announced the decision to not go out on the pitch in one of the next round of games as a sign of protest.
“The AIC will wait until November 30 to announce the date of strike action.”

Except that even in what might ostensibly be called a 4-3-1-2 Vooch would play down the left an awful lot and the 'other' striker, Totti or Borriello, would play through the middle and keep the CBs busy that way. On the other hand, it is true that the 4-3-1-2 concedes the wings and that's where Del Neri likes to get his teams to attack from so it might end up being a 4-2-3-1, knowing how much Claudio likes to react.
Totti may start on the bench tomorrow in favor of a Vucinic - Borriello pairing. Simplicio and Greco partnering DDR in midfield. Menez behind the forwards.
You usually get the Rube games right, fonz. Let's hope the streak continues. You're such a fair weather Romanista, though. Where were you during those dark weeks earlier in the season?

Feck feck feck. I've just realised the game isn't on live on ESPN, its on delay to be shown at 10pm. Some poxy smelly UFC shite is on live now, whatdafeck.
Gazzetta's showing: J Sergio, Cassetti, Mexes, Burdisso, Riise, Simplicio, De Rossi, Greco, Menez, Totti and Vooch. I'm assuming that's the starting lineup and not their guess, since it's almost gametime.
“I won things with that shirt and I know what it means. In no other city does a victory mean as much as in Rome."
Yes thats seems to be it, Lupa. Borriello riding the panchina. Forza la magica. Lets beat these drughi bastardi a' cockaroaches. Fuck Aquilani. Smash his ankles to pieces. Forza forza.
How attitudes change in just a few short weeks! We'd have been thankful for small mercies to come out of Torino with a 1-1 back then. Last night we rightly wanted more, so unlike Signor Claudio, I'm not satisfied!
On the Shoutbox because you are keeping up with play, you are limited as to just how much you can make of any one point...
Fahad for example mentioned the amount of possession we had, but had to let it go at that. It was frustrating that in both halves we had more than Juventus but were all too often smothered by their defence in "the last third" of the pitch. I found that even more annoying than those matches where we waste goalscoring chances...at least then we are creating opportunities and trying to make them count.
I was glad for both Capitan' Francè and all of us when he put away that rigore very nicely, but it's far too long now since he last scored in open play! To try to assess his game...maybe it was the general team performance last night but I couldn't help thinking where at one time he would hold the ball longer while assessing his options, now he seems to look for the quick release in attack.
That said, a few times last night we were painfully short of bodies in the Juve penalty box and one one occasion Riise was our solitary attacking presence. Not good enough. What was very promising overall, was the fact we showed more than Juve did which is a good plus given we were the "away" side. Philou Mexes made a big thing of saying he reckoned we deserved all three points and in terms of being competetive away from home he has a point. But the name of the game is scoring more goals than your opponent and we did not do that.
Tommaso rightly considers the referee probably tried to even things out by giving us that penalty kick for the handball. It was a technically correct decision but still a bit of a soft call. It's easier to suggest Mexes was due a pen because despite the tackle on him, and given that there was contact, it all actually looked worse than it was. When you are watching on a 45" screen you see that bit more detail. Not that I am trying in any way to excuse Rizzoli's decision but that might explain it. If it comes to the point then I'd say Simplicio was much more due a free kick in his favour on the edge of the Juve penalty area after Chiellini's tackle. As we know, free kicks are given not always because of the actual contact but on the referee's assessment of the amount of intent provoking the challenge. Is the defender trying to get the ball or the opposing player? I think l'arbitro Rizzoli was inconsistent last night.
All told though, it leaves us in a reasonable position, provided we don't stupidly lose points in the coming weeks. Even with a new manager, Genoa in the Olimpico di Roma next week end ought to be an easier nut to crack than those damn zebras were!
As for our latest events regarding ownership, hopefully next week we will hear more, now that we are into the stage whereby only legally binding offers are considered. Already we see the truly serious bids and another to fade is Steven Tisch who according to Romanews is only concerned with the New York Giants. As usual, I stick by my preference for an Italian, preferrably a Romano, though if the latest story regarding Angelucci is true (Deini was good enough to forewarn us he couldn't vouch for the source) whereby he will offer Rosella the position of "day to day" manager, that's even more reason for not wanting him. As you see, I'm not so single minded that I'd want our club to suffer.
Lastly, my thanks to all you guys, our regular forum posters who have kept things healthy here while I have been in absentia!
Ed, Gio, Deini, Jeff, Fahad, Pocari, Tommaso, Lupa, and James. Not forgetting our "visitors" like Andrew. I notice we have had "guest appearances" by Jam, Steve, and Fonzie. Why only so? You guys don't love us anymore? 'Tec, where have you been hiding recently? Catching up on your life of debauchery?
