Fahad, I think to a point we all miss the Spallettiano champagne football, but not so much the limited success, the succession of second places in the campionato, and the Coppa Italia/Super Coppa wins only.

What have we lost since 2006? The record breaking Totti for one, Moody Mancini, Giuly the atomic goblin, a much better (and goalscoring) Taddei and Perrotta, to say nothing of Aquilani when he was fit...it's a lot to replace and we can only do so if and when our mysterious benefactor manifests himself as our new owner. By which point he will have no doubt learned our current mister can only succeed domestically and not in Europe.

Perhaps next season my namesake, another diehard Romano can be lured from the clutches of the Russian money launderer in the south of England...we should be so lucky!

I'm glad to see the rumours of Ranieri's sacking should we lose to Parma seem to be only that, according to LaVocegiallorossa. We oughtn't to change coaches until we change ownership unless an absolutely drastic action is needed.

As for the shortlist of possible replacements...Leonardo, Rijkaard, Donadoni and "the forbidden dream" (and much more expensive one) of Guus Hiddink. Didn't recent rumour have Leonardo in pole position? A mistake. Only Rijkaard is feasible to me as being able to take over and he is hardly an ideal choice. Hiddink as we are we couldn't even afford!
