I think Totti won't play much and anyway he is not the player he was: I basically regard Totti as a bonus now rather than an integral part of the regular strarting team. The 2 strikers would be 2 from Vucinic, Adriano and Totti with Okaka, there being a need for 4 strikers in the squad if 4-4-2 is used.

With his speed and dribbling ability, I think Menez is best used as a winger.

Interesting, Giacomo. I think without Totti this team loses an enormous amount and so if he does have only a peripheral role this season (which I don't see), then it could be a rocky season. I tend to think Menez is going to end up a more central player - he likes to get on the ball and he's more of an attacking play-maker than an out-and-out winger for me - but clearly he can start wide and cut inside in the 4-4-2. I'd be surprised if we don't see a bit more of the 4-3-1-2 (or a diamond 4-4-2) this season.

Tom, I prefer your link where Conti insists he will stay with us! It went on to tell us he met with la Sensi today but though we presume it was to amongst other things assure her of his loyalty, it doesn't actually say so though the implication is there...fortunately there have been other articles since to verify he is staying.

Gio and I would both be distraught if Roma lost Bruno Conti. Words can't begin to describe what he was as a player to both la magica and la nazionale! You don't replace a living legend. Like it was when we lost Giannini...the Prince of the city! Absolutely Terrible!

As for what may have prompted the original rumour, I guess it will have been down to the "unknown" regarding the future.

Former Juventus director Luciano Moggi could show his hand as part of a Roma takeover bid according to reports.

Forzaromainfo.it reports Mediaset journalist Maurizio Pistocchi told Radio Incontro that a "banned director who has been radiated by the federation" is co-operating with a potential buyer for the club.

Despite his ban from Calcio, Moggi seems to be operating as an outside influence in relation to Roma's future and he could be used as an advisor moving forwards.

Last week current president Rosella Sensi reliquinshed her assests in Roma to Unicredit as part of a €325 million debt settlement plan.

Unicredit are now looking to find a suitor to buy the club and get it back on its feet. Arab investment group Aabar have been linked as they have a stake in the Italian banking group and any move would be facilitated by close relations.

But the latest developments from Rome suggest a consortium with Moggi's backing is leading the race to rescue the club from the bankers.

If Daniele Pradè had Moggi's undeniable transfer market flair then we might well be in a stronger position.

What we are really asking here is if Moggi can ever return to top level football. It's said "Even in Italy the sun cannot rise in the west!"
