Roma Keen On Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen - Report
The Lupi are interested in the Belgian defender, according to Italian reports...

Roma are tracking Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen as director Daniele Prade keeps an eye on him.

Sportal.it claims Prade was in London watching Arsenal during their 5-0 win over Porto in the Champions League, and he was impressed with what he witnessed from the Belgian.

Vermaelen has been enjoying a stellar season with the Gunners, and Roma are pondering to fire away with an offer.

It is said Philippe Mexes is likely to leave at the end of the season, and the Italians have identified Vermaelen as a replacement.

The Lupi have also been linked with William Gallas after Claudio Ranieri expressed his admiration for him.

Damn it to hell, no Vučinić...the knee isn't yet better and il mister is rightly not going to risk him. So we have Toni who is not fully match fit possibly starting. Rosella decided to go to Trigoria to give the lads a brief pep talk on needing to believe they can today get within four points of Inter...

Of course, Ranieri and the boys aren't professionals, they wouldn't realise this without her advice...

And if she didn't go, no doubt you'd be castigating her for a lack of interest and involvement, Carlo. I'd like to see two up top, anyway, rather than the 4-2-3-1, with Cerci down the right and Taddei down the left. Whether those two are Luca and Cerci, Luca and Menez, Luca and Baptista doesn't bother me so much - going for the 4-3-1-2 or 4-4-2 rombo, though, is what I want to see from now until the end of the season.

I thought he might do this. I've been quite impressed with the way Ranieri has quietly tried to nurture both Mexes and Menez. They haven't always rewarded his faith, but I think there have been two or three times when he's given them a run because he rates them very very highly. Footballing wise, I think he has a soft spot for them in a way which belies his apparent pragmatism. Let's hope they make the most of the opportunity again. He's certainly consistently made more use of the squad than Spags did (whose selections were conspicuously predictable).

Tom, I've reached the point where I think I'd prefer her to just sit in the VIP section at our home games and leave it at that. Somehow I can't make myself believe other than she does things like this to be seen to be doing them...but enough of her.

As we know, our gameplan from the New Year on was to be il rombo with Totti-Toni and if we do ever get that, it will only be over the final few weeks of the season...as for now, my preference on the wings, when available, is a Riise-Vuci tandem on the left and a Motta-Taddei one on the right. I'm not overmuch bothered about whether il mister now goes for 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2, rather than the old 4-2-3-1. Just as long as he doesn't start farting around with a 3-4-1-2 just because it's the current fashion for some!

We know we have to suffer Baptista and I can. It's as you know, Cerci and Ménez who have still to win me over.

Let's be honest, Carlo: were Rosella to come up with a cure for cancer you'd say she only invented the disease in the first place so that she could claim the credit for curing it. And, more to the point, she only found the cure because she was thinking of a way of getting herself a new handbag.
