I'm just looking forward to what neddy has to say about stop-gap and the ginger knut now. Pizza does have big brass balls, but so do Simone and Rodrigo - how much work did those two get through today? Simone is such a crazy marthfocker. You'd think he had some hot southern blood in him, but apparently he comes from just outside Manchester. Or so I keep hearing. Juan is playing painfully well - how unlucky was he to have that muffed clearance land on the leaden-footed concrete-calved Waterboy's toe? It was the only way the Waterboy looked likely to catch up with the ball at any stage.

dibbus, Cassetti is not a great player and he and Burdisso certainly gave us cause for concern on more than one occasion last night. Three things, though - he almost completely stifled Marchisio who, other than Diego, was supposed to be Rube's greatest attacking threat from midfield; that run in the final 15 minutes; that tackle on Diego almost immediately afterwards.

Burdisso is struggling for me and the sooner we can get Mexes back in alongside Juan the better - hopefully next weekend. I like what Burdisso brings to the squad - and can bring to the team - but Mexes and Juan at their best are on another planet. Let's hope they stay fit and are at their best together for the rest of the season. There was a worrying piece on one of the sites the other day which showed that Juan has consistently put together a run of games at this time of the season - and into February - before getting injured again 'when the weather starts getting hotter and the grounds harder,' or so ran the argument of the piece.

Ranieri has us playing with good shape and playing much better football than I'd imagined. The first half was dire, of course, but we really took control of that second half - almost from beginning to end, I thought. Now if we can just get Totti and Luca and Philippe fit, then Ranieri really will have some nice selection issues to solve. On one leg Totti loses none of his vision.
