Aside from the loss just now.... Rossetti is the worst fuckin ref ever. He's blind to all of Ambrosini's early fouls. When we throw one, it's an instant yellow card. I dont think i recall seeing him ref any of our games and actually take control. The second half is littered with yellow cards and Ambrosini is sent off when we're trying to find an equaliser.

Doni was surprisingly alright, first game back and all. Taddei should be forever benched if he wants to stay at Roma. There was a counter with Menez to Vucinic to Taddei in the second half. Taddei just stands there thinking he's Brazilian and he could waltz past defenders with the ball. That's one thing this team lacks, explosive players that could get past their man. Taddei, Perrotta, Pizarro are definitely not on that list. Menez was alright in the first half but man, Guberti coming off the bench was killer. We would've pounded the thought of a comeback out of Milan if Guberti started over Taddei. Hell, maybe Vucinic would've woke the fuck up and started scoring too. This game should've been ours

If that cocksucking maggot rosetti makes the right call on menez being brought down by thiago silva, the game unfolds much differentlyand we are almost guaranteed a draw. The pk on nesta is close but if your not calling the one on menez then this one should also not be called.

Even galliani had to leave the stands early In the first half out of guilt. Just like the good ole days with galliani getting favours in time of need. Imagine the uproar had Milan lost this one.

Oh and taddei should not start another game unless even leandro rosi is unfit.

It's not really fair to say Roma only convinced me for the first half but after Menez was unable to capitalise on his gift goal with his second scoring opportunity just a few minutes later, I had this sense of foreboding that we'd seen a turning point in the game. There's no need for me to add more, you've all said what needed said!



Steve & Vincenzo, further to the earlier topic on the Shoutbox, the need for a satellite uplink as there is no direct horizon to horizon contact from Europe to Nth/Sth America...this link tells a little of the Atlantic Gate relative to sat. tv though it doesn't go into the technicalities of what is required to maintain encrypted transmissions etc. Notice the 1999 date...

Part of the Rai Int. picture quality problem stems from the fact that even though the broadcast signal is digital, the camera source from outside broadcasts can sometimes still be analogue, believe it or not! Compare the French TPS transmissions for example and see the difference! An inexcusable situation given that Italy led the world in digital tv at its outset, Berlusconi's Mediaset being operational over 6 months before anyone else, back in 1997!

Steve, this link is of a web hosting site you may have had in mind, which could probably be used to combat the signal degredation over distance problem if it wasn't for the fact the hackers would find their job easier! A fibre-optic cable is superior to open air in terms of conductivity but there's millions of dollars in subscription revenue to protect.

It's only the game footage that is so crappy, although one time a cable guy was at my place and said that RAI is always a good channel to check, because if you have problems with your cable, RAI will be problematic.

One time the feed on the game footage was so dark that Giuly was off by the side and I couldn't figure out why he was just kind of dicking around with the ball. I didn't even see that there was a Livorno guy with him because with the dark kit and the dark picture he was practically invisible!

I was going to post an 'oh no' message in the shoutbox as soon as I saw Rosetti - if he's Italy's 'top ref', no wonder there is so much crap reffing. I suppose Collina will give a press conference supporting him.

Lupa, I think we can take it as read Collina will at least close ranks publicly with Rosetti.

On the subject of Rai, there are more changes coming in Italy with this new TivuSat venture which has been on the go since August. It's safe to asume as it's Italy, each change won't be forever, which of course will require subscribers to spend regularly on different equipment.

TivuSat, headed by Rai, Mediaset, & La7 is available both as a digital terrestrial and a satellite service and like Sky Italia, it's not meant to be viewed outside Italy but since the satellite signals can't be stopped outside Italy and both official and unofficial equipment can be got, anyone living within the Eutelsat 13°E footprint is laughing, as they say...you'll know if you can get some of the programming from it uplinked to Nth America if you get for example, the Rai4 channel.

To be fair, Romanisti and Roma whinge too much. I didn't get to watch the game, really - I can't get a good stream in the evenings at the moment, thanks to my internet supplier - so I can't judge properly, though I did get to see the first 20 minutes or so, but I don't think anyone's really complaining that the Nesta-penalty was absurd or the non-Menez one absurd either. The problem with the first one is in the rules of the game, or the way they're interpreted, at least - had Menez gone down that was almost certainly a penalty. Because he tried to stay up the ref thinks he's off the hook. What should actually happen is the ref gives him twice the opportunity because he stays on his feet - a goal if he scores, a penalty if he doesn't. It's non-calls like that one at least as much as phantom-calls that are made that encourage diving. You can understand why the ref didn't give it, even though he was clearly wrong not to. And though I haven't seen the Nesta one I gather from glad's comments and others' that it was soft but not ridiculous. Rosetti is a kunt, no doubt, and I'm quite happy with people who question his integrity - he has previous: on the other hand, Riise was badly caught out on the second goal; I gather Burdisso didn't need to make the challenge to give the ref the opportunity to give the penalty; we missed a handful of good chances ourselves which were at least as conspicuous as the ref's errors; and we didn't play particularly well, so far as I could see, against a pretty ordinary, disheveled Milan side. Of course we have a right to be peeved at the refereeing, but I can't remember the last time we had some decisions go against us and the club and players took them with good grace. We'll get some mistakes in our favour too, over the course of the season, and, regardless, we should be concentrating on what we can fix rather than bleating about how hard done-by we were.
