Roma's Cassetti to miss Fiorentina clash


ROME, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Brief news ahead of Wednesday's matches in Italy's Serie A.

Right back Marco Cassetti is out of leaders Roma's visit to Fiorentina with a muscle strain he suffered in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Juventus.
The 30-year-old is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks and is likely to miss Saturday's clash with champions Inter Milan and next week's Champions League match at Manchester United. Fit-again Italy defender Christian Panucci is likely to take his place.

Fiorentina's Romania striker Adrian Mutu warned Roma that the Tuscan side will be aiming to knock them off the top spot on Wednesday.
"We cannot compete for the title yet, but we can go top, even if it's just for one day," the former Chelsea forward said. Roma have 10 points from four games, two more than Fiorentina, Inter and Atalanta.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were upset by Fiore tomorrow. In the end I think it'll come down to who starts tomorrow. Guily, Cicinho, Mancini, and maybe Ferrari need to start. I would also think about starting Pizarro, and give Aquilani a bit of a break. Or at least give him more than 20mins.

I doubt Vuci is injured. He's been on the bench because playing him on the left hasn't worked out that well. Worse comes to worse and he is out, could we see one of either Aquilani or Mancini up top?

Thanks Shield & Italiamia. I'll have to run out and pick up that copy of Calcio Italia, although it's pretty rare round these parts.

I thought the most telling part for me was this: "I always wanted Inter and only Inter. I think that the way the negotiations went clearly shows that." After so many people (not necessarily here) said "it's all the Becali brothers" and "Chivu doesn't know what's going on it's not his fault", it's clear he was pulling the strings.

I personally have lost all respect for him and could care less if he ever sees another minute on any pitch anywhere. But I will say I'm not shocked. With the way things transpired, his intentions were clear all along.

And I wouldn't discount LitM and throw the game away just yet. Mirko does know how to score goals as neuseam and he's been on fire for Montenegro of late. He won't be Totti, but he'll be just fine.

I believe Taddei did rotate with Mancini in that forward role when we had no other options two seasons ago. Spalletti likes to play Taddei in the centre rather than Mancini, and he also has better workrate.

I get the feeling that both Totti and Perrotta could play in it were an absolutely crucial game, but considering our next run of fixtures it is wise to rest them if they are not 100%. Losing Totti is a blow, fecking obviously like hy, but have no fear, The LitM will be ready. This is Vucinic's biggest game since that ill-fated night in Old Trafford. With Totti's absence, the responsibility falls on him to lead the line and, ultimatley, to provide the goals, and a lot will be learned and it could go a long way to determining what Vucinic can offer this team this season. He was waiting for his chance, now it looks like he got it, and I'm confident he will deliver.
