As Roma, vola il titolo in Borsa

(ANSA)-ROMA,20 SET- La Roma non conosce i motivi che hanno portato al forte trend rialzista delle quotazioni dei suoi titoli: cosi' il club risponde alla Consob. Oggi a Piazza Affari il titolo della Roma ha registrato rialzi superiori al 22%. Il club sottolinea comunque come i risultati di Borsa possano essere influenzati dalle "positive performance sportive, nonche' dai positivi risultati economici e finanziari conseguiti dalla societa' nel corso dell'ultimo esercizio".

Roma stock is booming, and nobody has an concrete explanation as to why. Not even the club. But our management speculates that it is a combination of the performance of the squad along with fiscal responsibility which has led to financial stability.
Perhaps Mr. Fonzarelli can give us his opinion.

I watched that video of Sky Sports commentary earlier today, and having been following posts, but have been up the fucking walls in work today to reply. Initialy I was certainly angry at what I saw, but the more I thought about it through the day the more the comments of Souness and Gullit made me laugh, and one word sprung to mind, and sums it all up perfectly: typical.
I know a lot of ye here are shocked and enraged at such comments – and rightfully so, of course – and perhaps some are not all that familiar with Sky Sports punditry, but really, what we seen in that clip is simply typical of Sky Sports and the English media in general, and the way it has been for a very long time in this part of the world, and what people like myself have had to put up with. Its a never-ending debacle. Honestly, there is so much I want to say about this I don't know where to start (even though I already have), and I'm tired enough as it is...
This is simply more than a case of bad football analysis. A lot more. As a few have mentioned, you have to look at the ignorance and pure arrogance of the English – even though, er, Souness is Scottish and Gullit is Dutch, it is still relevant to what I'm talking about. It is the mentallity of those involved in the English game – such as it is – and the high opinions they form of themselves which spawn down from a whole lot of nationalism and patriosm and crap and believe of something greater and more important. This is the nature of the British, and this is why they are hated. You also have to blame Sky Sports. Honestly, I was excited that I finally got digital TV and so have all these sports channels, but now I don't know why. Sky Sports is a fucking joke. It is shite beyond shiteness. Everthing about it, and this would extend to the British sports media and tabloids in general, I suppose, is so ignorant to anything thats not British it is unbelievable. You may think why would they be, as they are British, but seriously, Maro will tell you the same thing, if its not involving them, coverage of it will be scarce at best, and this extends to all sports. They believe they have the best and that is all. Here in Ireland, in the Irish Independant, the main national newpaper, you will find a regular column of European football, including Serie A, every Monday. Look in the 'best' of the British papers for Italian football – The Guardian, The Times – and you will be looking for a long time. Sky Sports have never shown Italian football. They have for a good few years now covered La Liga in Spain, with several live games a week. Channel 4, Bravo, and most lately, Setanta Sports 1 and 2 (which are the British versions of the Irish-owned channel), have all ditched their coverage of Serie A. Channel 5 is now the only one who shows it, but it is a minor channel and there coverage is seriously limited. Setanta now shows live German, Dutch, French and Portugese football, but when I emailed them and asked them why they dumped Italian football, they replied saying it was purely a case of "having no room" in the schdule for it. Thats right, because there's no free space in between that top-of-the- table clash in the Portugese league and highlights of the best action from the exhilirating Dutch Eerste Divisie. Please. The question has to be asked, why have Sky never covered Italian football? Because it is so boring? Because it is so defensive? Its only the nation of the current World Champions, European Cup champions, Balloon D'Or winners, consecutive Golden Boot winners, high-class and tactial football, fiercly passionate fans, instense rivalries, and never-ending drama, both on and off the field. Nothing to get excited about, like. How many fans are there of Spanish teams and German teams compared to Italian teams in countries like Ireland, Amercia, Canada and so on? A lot more fans of Italian football, I would say. But in England? Forget about it boy There is a strong disliking and contempt toward the Italian game in England born out of this lack of interest from organisations like Sky Sports, and all this lack of coverage and viewing leads to followers of the English game to looking down on calcio. Some even believe Sky Sports have a policy of constantly ignoring the Italian game because they simply do not cover it. And some people actually believe what they say. They believe these pundits. They continually play down Italian teams chances in the Champions League. They slander players like Totti, Pirlo, Materazzi, Inzaghi, Toni. They never mention the fact that Italy are the current WC champions and number one team in the world. They never mention that Milan are the most successful club team in the history of football. (Anyone who's interest in this negative view of Italian football by the English should read Paddy Agnew's – an Irish journalist who lives in Rome – book, 'Forza Italia', which is all about Italian football, seen threw the eyes of an outsider. )So this is what we are left with. What people like myself – followers of Italian football – have to put up with.
Moving on the actual comments made, I'll take Souness first. Souness actually made his name in football punditry in Ireland. He is a staunch Rangers man, a proud Scotsman and Britan, and often famously dropped the Irish contingent of Duff, Carsley, Jason McAteer and Kelly from his Blackburn side at various times, and so when Souness came to RTE for the WC way back when it was quite a surprise. I have to admit, I actually think though he was an alright pundit when it came to analyising games. But his comments on Totti are obviously way off the mark, bewildering and pathetic, and comes down soley to ignorance. He asking what Totti has ever won proves this. He has never been one for what he would consider 'fancy players' (much like Martin O'Neill, who also dislikes Totti). Lets forget he was the leading scored in Europe and WC, scudetto, Italian Cup winner and so on. Gullit is, like Smiley said, just stupid. An idiot. That is all. He is there because he is a famous name (like Souness, Petit, McManamum, Le Tissier – Sky Sports punditry is fucking terrible*). Gullit was the one who commented on Totti's workrate and inability to play for the team – this shows how much how he watches Totti these days, as Totti has very much increased his work rate since his move to a lone striker. The biggest shambles of all is when Souness said why Totti has never joined a 'big side'. Why did Tony Adams never leave (a relatively unsuccessful at the time) Arsenal? Why did Billy McNeill never leave Celtic? Why did Trevor Brooking never leave West Ham? The Charlton brothers at Leeds? Le Tissier at Southamton? On and on. All players Souness would be well familiar with, and the answer is obvious, no need to say it at all. It was simply Sky Sports football punditry at its finest.
And Maro, for the record, I think Jamie Rednapp is not the worst of them. Altough he did play for Liverfuckingwankingscum and so therefore he is obviously a dirty fucking scumbag by extension, he is not the worst of them at all, and has always been a professional, altough I have to add he is average at best as a football pundit.
* While I'm waffling on about football punditry (and I am waffling, I know), I have to say that, and I shall explain, football punditry in Ireland is actually top-class. I know I know, you may say I'm drunk or just saying it because I'm Irish, or both, or whatever, feckoff, but seriously, it is. Coverage of the Champions League, International football, and even the Premiershit in Ireland is, honestly, great. On RTE we have, mainly: Johny Giles, Liam Brady, Eamonn Dunphy, Ray Houghton, Trevor Stevens, and a few others (sometimes Souness among them), all former players, and they all call it like it is. They actually do. Eamonn Dunphy is the best of them. He is a Roy Keane man through and through (he wrote his biography), and famously stormed of a live set during the WC and the infamous Roy Keane v Mick McCarthy WC fallout which dominitate the Irish media for about six months (they even made a very successful play about it (seriously)). But Dunphy, and Giles and Brady, call things like they are, don't hold back, and often criticise the English game and the English League in comparison to Italy or Spain. RTE's punditry even made it into English-based and extremely English biased (see there '100 greatest players) football magazine '4-4-2', which said how hard-hittting and much more entertaining and accurate it is. So there you go.
God I'm fucking wrecked. I couldn't be arsed reading over that so feck off if there's spelling mistakes and comma's and shit missing. I was meant to be off on holidays for a few days this week but had to work cos one girl in work quit and another had to take time off for personnal reasons, so I got fucked up the jacksie hy. Didn't get to see the game last night (working), but good result. My biggest wish and dream is that we shut these stupid English cnuts up and show them the Roma we all know in our next game. And I believe we will. Forza forza.
