It depends on what one thinks is needed more. A prima-punta or a wing or versatile forward, the latter being someone who can play more than the sole striker role, such as Mirko. Or it could simply depend on what target becomes more available to us. I would say that whichever position Spalletti and co think is more pressing will be our 'big' signing, the one on which all of our transfer funds are spent, and then the other would be a free/cheap/co-ownership signing. Be our big signing Mutu or Baptista (not that I would consider him a big signing), then we pick up Crespo for free or Borriello for a complicated deal with Milan. Or if our big signing be Pavlyucenko or Huntelaar then perhaps we go for a cheaper wing-forward.

tony, VDV does NOT play upfront for Hamburg, he plays behind the stirkers Guerrero and Olic, he is a playmaker.

Watch more Hamburg. He played up front on numerous occasions and did very well.

i actually watch Hamburg alot this season, maybe he played there a couple of times, but most of the time i watched, he was playing behind the strikers.

Btw, i'am a huge admirer of VDV, and i would love to have him at Roma, but i don't think that we are even linked with him.

I definately played up top quite a bit. I prefer him behind strikers as well, but if he were brought to Roma, I would play him up top. I would like to see VDV at Roma because he is versatile. Roma isn't linked with him, but someone on here mentioned his name and it got me excited. I would really like to see Roma go for Rosina.

Yeah, Rosina would be a very good pick-up indeed, he can play in any position behind the striker, and he'd probably be cheap nowdays, i really don't know why aren't we linked with him!!! And i think we need more Italians on the team, the Brazilians are getting more and more, and the beast seems to be on the way!

It is the way of the modern game. Italian teams and English teams seem to run away from domestic players. We (Juventus) have signed more average foreigners for more money and are in worse shape than if we would have just signed Italians. I have no idea what the problem is with the big teams.

Rosina would fit into Roma's style perfectly.

Tony & Xeno, I'd love to see Rosina as a competitor/replacement for Taddei's place on the right but he's waiting to raise his price and go to Milan, Inter, or Juve. Even possibly abroad though I'd hate to see Italy lose this guy!

So if we were to get Mutu...with the rotation system he could either alternate up front with Totti or on the left with Vučinić. I'm not given to prayer over football matters but I'd consider Mutu to Roma as a gift from above!

What makes you think Roma have a better chance of winning something? Fiorentina have re-enforced their squad, and under a coach like Prandelli anything can happen. I'm really worried about Roma right now. The whole ownership thing is taking its toll on the club, and if you guys dont sign some quality players, I can see you guys dropping from the top 4. Napoli is also alot stronger than last year, and i would look for them to make a push for top 4 as well.
