Irrespective of whether it's a major or a no-change summer, I'm getting so damn pissed off with watching Roma being obliged to outscore the opposition in order to win a game!

It's been the case for a season and a half as we know. It's not a recent happening. Miserable defending, gifting goals to our opposition...and since we currently have a prick with ears as our only serviceable senior goalkeeper it becomes even more of a joke. I'll say Artur did make a couple of impressive saves last Sunday but in no way can that compensate for his "accident waiting to happen" style!

In all my time as a giallorosso I've never seen our lupi with a comparable and frankly most embarrassing 58-57 goals for-against stat! At least in the past on those occasions we have really been bad, we had a genuine excuse for losing a lot of goals. I imagine there are those who'd suggest we should be grateful at least for the fact that we are still at least able to score goals. It reminds me rather, which is no consolation, of Zeman's Foggia of the early 1990's when they had Beppe Signori and Ciccio Baiano banging them in at one end and getting their end banged at the other just as quickly!

If our poor defending problem isn't considered seriously and rectified this summer in our approach work for next season, we could actually see worse ahead. Irrespective as I say of whether there's a major change...or not as the fates will it!

Gio, setting aside for the moment, Unicredit's hesitance to act in this drawn out and unforgivable saga, it appears Rosella wants it to be seen that both the title of presidente and the club are her inheritance from the Old Man and as such are as untouchable now as they were in his lifetime. Whether or not that word with its typically Italian veiled threats still applies is yet to be disproven...but it most certainly serves her purposes!

Am I speaking disrespectfully of our dear and lovely lady presidente? It's my opinion and I'll continue in saying if the tv cameras recently caught her with a horrified expression on her face it was only through fear that the team's failures could harm the club's selling price!

Life has taught me that without exception, women are born actresses, and I rather think la principessa, as I've said to you before, has long since realised the game is over, so to speak, and has already had her sticky paws in the cash register while she considers from which angle the biggie, her "Golden Handshake" paycheck will best arrive...that and her mandatory low profile exit!



Tuna-Man, adequate defenders as opposed to top class...a system which requires our defenders to assist attacks which leaves them open to being caught out by counter attacks...the psychological issue of taking and squandering two goal leads that just won't go away...and that's not even taking displays of temperament into account which leaves us more often than it should, a man down in a game! Excessive injuries and suspensions...hell, no wonder we struggle!

But...we ourselves on this forum also concede that the top clubs in Europe would regard our present defence as being only reserve quality, fine for normal week end work but not for the really big games and I won't argue against that. It's a lot of straightening out and money or lack of is only part of solving the problems!

Carlo, I don't know, I think that we have a very solid starting backline when all healthy (practically never). Motta (if he wasn't an aberration for the first few months), Mexes, Juan and Riise, particularly when DDR is present. I think if Motta develops the way we hope he does that it will be just fine. I'm worried about depth in defense and a lack of speed in midfield, and of course another striker, a true goal scorer. Not to mention our goalkeeping. blah blah blah.
