i'll be surprised if both destro and osvaldo stay if gervinho comes. one expensive sub (destro) for 3 well-filled positions is enough for roma. having two 8m+ bench players backing up just 3 positions is unrealistic. so, yes, i think he'll take the place of one of those 4 players.

borriello was never these guys' choice. they've been trying to get rid of him and his wages since they stepped foot in trigoria.

Everyone else on the front line (with the Exception of Totti) cost more. Gervs may very well be the first name on the team sheet given the Mister's familiarity with him though. Either way, i'm arguing against the logic not your conclusion. 8 million for a striker in his mid 20's is nothing these days but i do think that Gervs will bring something unique to the team.

Pjanic, De Rossi and Strootman are all surely worth more. Benatia cost us more. Perhaps only 3 of our backline positions will have starters which cost less (or worth less) than the 8 million dollar price tag of Gervs.

dcg, i'm not saying 8m is a lot for a striker. all the players you named were brought in with the notion that they will start. for roma, 8m is too much for a striker who will be a back-up RW and nothing more. the fourth player for 3 positions (last year's destro) isn't really a sub, since he will probably play close to as much as the rest. bringing in a fifth guy, the bench player (nico lopez/borriello 2 years ago), for 8m on 2m wages is a luxury roma can't afford.

looking at the reports i wouldn't be surprised if garcia is hoping for this to work out:



perhaps, and i hope this isn't the case, he wants to give gervinho his spot on the left and move totti to the other side (as he did at times in kansas). and, for the record, i would love to be proven wrong and see us keep osvaldo, destro and lamela.

Watching the game. Except for defending, moving laterally, tactical sense, passing, crossing and movement off the ball Dodo is quite a good player.

If you're in to brevity, he can dribble the ball in a straight line. Literally, that's it.

I thought there was some good performances from Pjanic, Dodo, Jedvaj, Taddei, Borriello. expected a bit more from Lamela and Totti though. weird how many touches Bradley took but came to nothing
