Ironically i think this may be the best Serie A season in a long time. For the first time i feel that Serie A (at least on the pitch) is on the uptick.

Unfortunately i feel like Roma is not. Although hopefully Rudi can do something.

I agree, it looks like it could be a very exciting season. With Napoli looking as if they might just be able to mount a proper title challenge (until Benitez shits his bags and has a brainwave to play Giandomenico Mesto as their lone striker or some such); Fiorentina and Montella looking stronger with a solid season behind them (even without Jojo I think they're stronger); Inter having a proper coach and the prospect of big bucks; Roma with having Garcia and the expectations of what he can do; even smaller sides like Torino, Catania, Bologna and Parma who all play good football, plus what the promoted ones like Verona and Sassuolo can bring, it could be an interesting season alright.

Reports that we've reached a deal for Gervinho. All we have to do is sell a player in order to raise the funds for his transfer. Such as Pjanic.

Gervinho is – in my expert opinion, after watching countless scouting videos, analysing 100's of tactical reports, and researching dozens of articles about him - complete and utter fucking shit. Plus, he's looks like this dude from the Simpson's:

If we trade Pjanic for Gervs i'll be furious.

I see Gervs as classic boom/bust guy. He has the physical traits to be very successful in Serie A where his pace will cause people problems.

He also has the mental fragility of a chunky 13 year old girl. The Ultras will tear him apart if he has the misses he had at Arsenal.

I choose to be optimistic and say he'll be a good buy even though all my past experience with Roma says they opposite.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt after all.

One thing this year I shall be genuinely interested in is how Leandro does, leading a Serie A midfield, playing, presumably, regularly, feeling an integral part of a side. I hope he does well. For me, as I've said before, he never quite had the 'power' to cut it, but he's hard working and cultured on the ball, so I suspect he'll reel in a few positive reviews over the next 10 months.

And then the Borriello thing is interesting. He's not quite my kind of striker - more clinical than constructive, effective individually than good for a team's pattern of play. Still, I find it pretty weird that Sabretini seems so anxious to bend over backwards to take a financial hit to replace Borriello and Osvaldo with players who are surely not as good. Garcia's been making very positive noises about both, but perhaps that's just to pretend that we won't accept any bid for either of them in order to keep their values up. Given Destro's injury problems, though, and, anyway, his age and lack of proven attainment, it seems to remarkable how keen the club seems to be to ship off older more proven players.

Roma President James Pallotta outlined his ambitious vision for the club and Francesco Totti’s place within it.

The Giallorossi are currently on their US tour and will face the MLS All-Star Team tonight in Kansas City.

“There are ads swirling around saying ‘Roma will be destroyed in 90 minutes.’ This gives us extra motivation to win,” insisted Bostonian Pallotta.

“Our goal isn’t just to be in the Champions League, but to be number one on Pinterest.”

These are bold targets for a side that has failed to qualify for Europe for the second year running.

The President also commented on captain Totti, whose contract expires in June 2014.

“He will always be at Roma. The length of the contract is not going to be a problem.”

Meanwhile, Roma announced their jersey for the MLS All-Star game will include the @OfficialASRoma Twitter account and the phrase ‘Roma Cares.’
