there's probably some truth in that story. i just always thought that sabatini had some kind of say in which players we bought. sure, castan might have put in a good word for a promising kid but they heard the same for hundreds of other players last summer. whether it was baldini, sabatini, zeman, or all 3 together who finally decided to buy marcos is beyond us as well as the media. castan's recommendation was just step number 1 of 15.

lol who cares about whose idea it was in the first place? fact is that sabatini and baldini had the final say on whether the player was brought in. it's unfair to say that their role in bringing the player to the club is not creditworthy.

i heard the story with phil jones going to united was that united were hammering blackburn by 6 odd goals when phil jones came on and ran his heart out. fergie was so impressed that he started scouting him from then on. it's no coincidence that phil jones' enthusiasm as a footballer is more pronounced than his technical ability.

I'm not that excited about this Strootman deal. Then again, I don't recall seeing him play so what do I know about him? I just know the Dutch national team has recently been filled with unlikable players. I'll try not to hold his nationality against him.
