i can't even remember the last time i saw inler play, but taxi is slower than pirlo and much slower than totti was at his age. its an interesting question, but one zeman thinks he has the answer to.

Tachtsidis probably was too slow alright. Still, I was willing to cut him some slack considering he was playing at a higher level in Serie A for the first time and so maybe with a season under his belt he would have gotten used to the pace and improved.

Does anyone know what the story is with Perrotta? Is he leaving, or one more year?

Wiki tells me Digne is a left-back, for some reason I had him down as a right-back and so thought he'd be ideal to bring in. We do need a new right-back I think, it doesnt look as if we'll be signing Piris outright, does it? (not sure when the deadline is, must be soon). Torosidis is a solid player but not sure if he's first team. Digne at left-back wouldn't be a bad option anyway, I'm not convinced of Dodo and Balza just hasn't been the Balza of old, unfortunately. Garcia has said he demands a lot of his full-backs to get up the pitch and support the attack.

Don't know who else we could look to get from Lille. Don't know anything about Payet.

The Benatia deal still hasn't been worked out, even if it does look likely we'll be signing him. He'll be a good addition I think. is that Caprari will be the makeweight in the deal, and not Lopez as previously mentioned. Have to say i don't really like the way we're moving around all our promising young players as pawns and whatever to secure new players (same scenario with Nainngolan). I'm all for giving our youth chances at other clubs, be it on loan or co-ownership, but some structure is needed. When it was done under Rosella, everyone screamed how cheap we are in sacrificing our youth instead of spending, but now it seems to be ok.

As for Nainggolan, he's a very good player and would be another good addition, but do we need him? So long as no one leaves (ahem), we're pretty much ok in midfield I think (DDR, Pjanic, Florenzi, Brads, Marquinho; Perrotta/Taddei/Verre?). Supposedly we're looking to include Caprari (again) and Verre to Cagliari to sign him, but they want cash of about €18m.

Nainggolan is a lot better than Bradley, for instance.

A Nainggolan-De Rossi midfield duo has the sort of power I'd be looking for in the middle of the pitch if I was putting a team together.

It would give the strength and solidity that would allow the other players in the team a lot of freedom.

Roma, in recent years, have been trying to give players freedom, but didn't have the solid base to balance that out and give some security.
