Osvaldo in the headlines again. A strong challenge in training from Nicolas Burdisso on Osvaldo yesterday led to some ugly words between the two. Burdisso apparently tried to calm him down afterward and tell him how to behave and said "his is not good, you cannot always do as you please". The management have been quick to play it down, but surprised he's been called up for Torino. Surely he's on his way out at the end of the season now.
Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Aurelio Andreazzoli's Roma future will probably be working alongside Walter Sabatini as a technical director.
Romagnoli interview with Sky Sports yesterday, said he dreams of winning with Roma. A good head on young shoulders, certainly has a big future. Romagnoli was asked to recommend another future star from the youth set-up, and he said Arturo Calabresi, a 17-year-old centre-back from the Allievi Nazionali team.
Most places saying Totti will start from the bench today, being rested with an eye on the mid-week Coppa game v Inter. Three-man back-line being tried in training again, but still unclear if it'll be 3-5-2 or a variation with four at the back. I hope we go with the four-man backline again. 3 at the back v Torino could be dangerous with their attacking 4-2-4, Cerci and co. Will be surprised if Osvaldo starts. AA has backed up in his press conference, as u would expect, but think he'll still be on the bench.
Torino 1-2 Roma: Lucky Roma Saved By Lamela Wonder Goal / 14 Apr 2013 Anthony Wright
Roma scraped to a 2-1 victory against Torino on Sunday afternoon, but the home side will consider themselves unlucky not to have garnered anything from the match after pressing hard late on.
The Giallorossi started on the front foot and nearly took the lead after four minutes when a cross from deep found Pablo Osvaldo in the centre, but the striker couldn't quite get his head on it. A fine cross from Dodo on the other flank on 16 minutes nearly set up the onrushing Erik Lamela, but his close range effort flew over the bar.
The main threats were coming down the wings for the visitors, and it was another cross that led to the first goal. A corner on the left was taken short, Federico Balzaretti provided the cross and Osvaldo rose at the back post to direct a looping header over Jean-Francois Gillet into the far corner.
A foul by Nicolas Burdisso on the edge of the box on 26 minutes nearly proved costly, but the woodwork came to Roma's rescue as Alessio Cerci's free kick beat Maarten Stekelenburg only to come back off the post.
However they weren't so lucky a few moments later when Burdisso was outmuscled too easily inside the penalty area by Rolando Bianchi, who lashed the ball past Stekelenburg from six yards to make it 1-1.
Roma were back to square one and tried to retake the initiative, and 10 minutes before half time Lamela hit a 25-yard free kick that took a deflection off the wall, leaving Gillet completely beaten as it flew the wrong side of the post.
Mario Santana pulled a shot wide from the corner of the box for Torino in the closing stages of the first half, but the game remained finely balanced at 1-1 at half time.
Five minutes after the break, a weaving run from Cerci nearly set up the next goal when his mishit shot fell straight to Riccardo Meggiorini, but he was unable to take control of the ball and it rebounded away from danger.
The Granata were looking good in the opening minutes of the second half, and Simone Perrotta was penalised for bringing down Giuseppe Vives on the edge of the box 10 minutes after the break. Again the woodwork saved Roma as Cerci curled a shot over the wall that Stekelenburg did superbly to tip onto the crossbar, and the follow up shot was sliced wildly wide with the net gaping.
Moments later though it was Roma who retook the lead thanks to a piece of magic. There looked to be little danger when Lamela picked up the ball on the right wing, but the Argentine was invited to cut inside onto his left foot and he curled a beautiful shot from 20 yards into the top corner to leave Gillet with no chance.
It was nearly 2-2 just a minute later, but Kamil Glik headed over the bar after finding space at a Torino corner. Stekelenburg then got down quickly to his right to stop a low shot from Santana as the hosts tried to work another opening.
Francesco Totti brought a save from Gillet with a powerfully struck free kick from the left hand side of the penalty area, but as the second half wore on, Roma were increasingly content to sit back inside their own half and look for chances to hit Torino on the break.
10 minutes before the end, Balzaretti was sent off for a second yellow card as he blocked off Cerci's run on the right wing. From the resulting free kick though, Roma won the ball back inside their own penalty area and counter-attacked with pace, but the final ball was just too far ahead of Lamela to convert from a yard out.
Alessandro Florenzi had to clear a cross-shot from Danilo D'Ambrosio off the line on 88 minutes as the home side kept pressing for the equaliser, but the crosses that were being put into the box were rarely finding their targets.
With the final kick of the game, Angelo Ogbonna tried his luck from distance but fortunately for Roma it took a deflection off Barreto and flew wide of the post as the referee blew for full time.

Torino-Roma 1-2 LE PAGELLE Lamela, che prodezza! Perrotta: polmoni d’acciaio / domenica 14 aprile 2013 17:02
Anyone have any comments on the Torino game? Fortunate thought it may have been, it was a crucial three points, moving up to fifth ahead of both Lazio and Inter.
Does anyone know, what positions qualify for the Europa League? I thought there were three spots – 4th to 6th – but Wiki tells me (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012–13_Serie_A_) 4th qualifies for the play-off round, while 5th qualifies for the third qualifying round. So if thats the case then us, Lazio and Inter are all fighting for one EL spot (although Fiorentina may be caught). Its further complicated by the Coppa Italia winners, which will come from Roma, Inter or Lazio, as the winner gets automatic qualification to the EL group stage. So, essentially, whoever does win the Coppa, the teams below will 'move up' one slot and so may qualify for Europe. Did I get all that right?!
Over 2000 Roma fans expected in the San Siro for the Coppa tomorrow night. Thats largely down to As Roma Away Card which was brought in by the club this season to replace the Tessera del Tifoso system. It also explains large number of away fans for Torino game. Over 1000 there, which was the most we've had in Turin for years.
There was crowd trouble with fans outside Olimpico in Turin , and also 19 charged with no train tickets, and there are fears that could be more trouble in Milan tomorrow. Fans can't have it both ways. The Tessera card was unfair, yet if fan trouble persists, authorities will feel they've no choice but to clamp down again.
Roma squad training in Novarello, in Novara, ahead of Coppa tomorrow. Osvaldo and Burdisso suspended. Pjanic, De Rossi and Marquinhos trained, but still doubts over fitness.
Totti could break another Roma record. Most goals scored in Copap Italia. Currently on 17, Pruzzo leads with 20 and Giannini on 19.
Where is everyone else? How come no one else is posting here?! Lupa, Italiamia, Maro, Colly, DCGweez, Dave, FI, Stef et al, whats the craic...?

FORMAZIONE MESSAGGERO (4-3-3) Stekelenburg; Torosidis, Marquinhos, Castàn, Marquinho; Bradley, De Rossi, Florenzi; Lamela, Destro, Totti.
FORMAZIONE CORRIERE DELLO SPORT (4-3-3) Stekelenburg; Torosidis, Marquinhos, Castàn, Marquinho; Bradley, De Rossi, Florenzi; Lamela, Destro, Totti.
FORMAZIONE GAZZETTA DELLO SPORT (4-3-3) Stekelenburg; Torosidis, Marquinhos, Castàn, Marquinho; Bradley, De Rossi, Florenzi; Lamela, Destro, Totti.
Surprised that Marcos is included in the projections. I was under the impression he was a massive doubt.
I find myself really wanting this Stella. To have the first one in Serie A would be quite an accomplishment. Easily the biggest success since at least 2001.
I know that quite a few of the players have said much the same thing. To do so against Lazio would make it that much sweeter.
Also, I heard Palacio is out for the game today. Anyone know anything about that?

Palacio's agent said a couple of days back that he wouldn't be fit for the game. Which is good news, as long as they aren't playing mind games with us....'cos tonight could potentially be make or break for Strama.
Thanks Lupa. Yeah I think the Coppa Italia winners qualify directly for EL group stage no matter where they finish in the league. But if they do finish in spots 1-5, then the team in 6th moves up one and so can qualify for Europe.
Marco is a big doubt alright but hopefully he can play. Burdisso is suspended so if he doesn't play its either Romagnoli or Piris beside Castan, so we're short of options. DDR is likely to play through the pain barrier and play, but Pjanic is a much bigger doubt.
Bradley, Castan, Florenzi and Lamela, all of whom should start tonight, are a yellow away from suspension for the final, so will need to be careful.
Yeah agreed DCG, winning the Coppa this year would be pretty great. Not just to salvage the season and get a European spot for sure, but being the first club to win 10 would be cool.
Looking at the Inter squad without their star forwards, I think I'd be sorely tempted to man-mark Guarin in this game.
The Inter squad looks so lacking in useful attacking players that there has to be every chance that anything good from Inter is likely to go through him.
Because of the lack of other threatening players, there also wouldn't be the same risk of focusing on Guarin leaving the space for another player to do something decisive.
You mean he scares you in the way a perverted old bald headed fuck in a long brown jacket hanging out around a playground in the park scares you, right? And not like on the football field kind of thing? (i know, i know, I'm knocking on wood saying this, i know).
Thats alright Colly. Do thems Bleach reporters still think the European Super Cup was the same thing as the European Cup, or have they listened to peoples comments? I seen an ad for those Totti magazines, looks good, is this the one http://www.corrieredellosport.it/edicol ... _518.shtml
Don't want to sound negative about the B/R. Most of them are excellent and the guys in charge are working hard to improve the content all the time, but there is the occasional spastic. Mainly, I just hate the comments section. But that applies to the internet in general.
Yeah, DC. That's what I thought. A lot of it's not to my taste, but they're serious about making it better all the time and I think the people in charge of the footy section have their heads screwed on. They seem like nice guys. It'll be interesting to see how it develops.
Seeing as this is a Roma forum, a comment: I hope we fucking destroy Inter tonight. I'm in the mood for action.
