Yeh, I dunno why it was moved to the Monday. I mean, I get that Lazio were playing in the EL on Thursday, but so what, it should be on the last available slot of the weekend, on Sunday evening. If its only a three day turnaround, tough shit, thats the disadvantage of playing European football.
Latest talk out of the camp says we're switching to a four-man defence, although we have heard that before. Burdisso will likely miss out if thats the case, and he hasn't been on great form lately. I've been advocating a switch to a back four for a while now as I think its more secure and sets us up better, with DDR able to float in front of the back two. Marquinho may come under some pressure at left-back up against Candreva or Lulic, so midfield will have to help him out. Up top just Lamela in support of Totti.
The moment is finally almost upon us - it's time for the Rome derby. After months of Laziali lording it over their Giallorossi rivals (after all, they won the first derby of the season and were in the race for the Champions League places until recently), Roma and Lazio are going into the stracittadina with a great deal at stake.
With only eight games of the season left, the chances of Champions League football next year are slim for both teams, but the Europa League spots are still up for grabs. The game also offers a chance for Roma to move above Lazio in the table (if they win with a better score than 3-2), while Aurelio Andreazzoli can also directly gauge himself against Vladimir Petkovic ahead of a possible Coppa Italia final meeting.
Roma and Lazio have met 81 times before with Roma as the nominal home side (68 times in Serie A, nine in the Coppa Italia, once in the Divisione Nazionale and three times in the war time championships), with Roma winning 31 times and losing 17. Until last season, the Biancocelesti had not won 'away' since a 1998 cup clash, but have now won the last three games in a row against Roma.
Last week against Palermo, Roma had six players one yellow card away from suspension - Pablo Osvaldo and Ivan Piris both subsequently picked up bookings and will be banned for the derby. Andreazzoli has few injury problems to worry about though, as Marquinhos will - in all likelihood - retake his place in the back three. The main concern is Federico Balzaretti, who has been suffering from flu this week and trained separately on Saturday. Meanwhile, the coach tried out a 3-5-2 formation in training, with Vasilis Torosidis and Alessandro Florenzi on the flanks in midfield.

So what was everyone's thoughts on the derby display? A disappointing enough performance, I thought. We were lacklustre and found it hard to create anything or move the ball forward with any purpose. A lot of that was down to the way the midfield was set-up, with both DDR and Bradley as the two deep-lying midfielders, neither of whom are to creative or clever with the ball at their feet. Pjanic at trequartista was too far forward to get on the ball and was easily marked out of it by the Lazio midfield, I thought we should have moved him deeper alongside either DDR or Bradley sooner. Our full-backs were also pretty ineffectual throughout I thought, although it was hard for them as they were pretty isolated out wide at times. And our front two up top provided no movement or runs in behind, which was not exactly unexpected, so I'd like to know exactly what the game plan was.
It was disappointing that it took a few incidents on Lazio's part to really get us going and play with any sort of threat or purpose – Hernanes missed peno, our peno, and their red card. We should have been fired up already but we needed a spur to finally get us going. Its a pity we didn't kick on and get the win then, at that stage, but I never really felt we put them under any serious pressure from good attacking play and it was more a case of looking for second penalty or threatening from a set-piece, which was disappointing. Totti was unable to get on the ball in good positions and not able to exert his usual brilliant influence, Pjanic was under a lot of pressure and trying to do too much, Destro couldn't hold onto the ball, Lamela was off in the clouds, we'd little support on the wings (Dodo is very bad), and no ideas. A pity, but we really should have got all three points.
Antonello Venditti: 'Yesterday seemed like a Serie B game. I don't recognise this AS Roma, a team without soul."
Pics of crowd trouble below. Looks like down along by the river. They all look like Lazio fans just having running battles with the police, just dumb fucking idiots doing it for the sake of doing it. I presume this isnt where the Roma fans were stabbed. This shit is annoying. I've visited a few Irish and UK sites this morning to look for any reports of the Derby, but all you see is reports of the crowd trouble before the game.
This says the four ultras (doesnt say which side i dont think) arrested yesterdat were punished with Daspo (laws against hooliganism), and banned for attending games for five years:
No more posticipo kick-off times for the Roma derby, it looks like. Can't say this is really a surprise. In fact I don't know why it wasnt a ruling sooner.

Nice piece by @iPrimaPunta on, em, rebuilding (again):
Good question. There's actually a paragraph about just that at the end of the ForzaRoma piece. The Prefect of Rome is adamant that "there will never again be a Rome derby in the evening", but RAI, who have the Coppa's broadcasting rights, have a clause with the Lega Calcio saying that it has to be an evening game and the 'big', main match. So who knows what will happen. If we beat Inter.
Whats wrong with Prefect? That is his official title, no? Il Prefetto di Roma. Not sure what exactly he does or how he's different from the Mayor (Allemano).
This is for Colly. Tweeted by @OfficialASRoma a few hours ago (#soccerex)
Still, going to the Derby was thoroughly enjoyable.
Atmosphere pre-match was cracking, though I thought the Curva Sud was fairly subdued through most of the game, which was perfectly understandable with Roma being shite both during the game and over the course of the season.
Seing Totti scoring in a Derby in front of the Curva Sud is certainly something that'll live long in the memory.
