It is a great line and it is very instructive because Zeman has behaved as though he is on a personal crusade. We were speaking of this several weeks ago went it appeared clear to me he was more interested in making controversial statements to the press rather than focusing on his actual job.

Tommaso is correct. I do not rate Zeman and I was against his hiring the minute his name surfaced as a possible candidate. I think you men are delusional if you believe things will improve to the point that Roma will competing for the CL even with a watered down, weak Serie A. I don't want to hear this 'we are only 4 points out of a CL spot'. We were given 3 points we did not earn remember. Nevertheless, with Zeman, you get what you get. There will be wins I am sure, but there will be more frustration in the end than enthusiasm for Zeman and his style of play. That rubentus game could have easily been a 6, 7 or 8 goal game. Did you all see the defending?

Edzo, I am sick and tired of hearing about what he did at Foggia (23 years ago) as a predictor to what he will do at Roma. There have been many coaches who have taken teams from C to B to A. How do you rate Edy Reja in comparison to Zeman? The point is that Zeman is simply not the man for the Roma job because we need to create stability at coach with a younger man. Ultimately, if you combine his style of play with the fact that the players do not appear to have the talent as adjudged by our management, then you have a recipe for disaster. We are seeing that play out in the early part of the season. Things will stabilize, but in the end you will see Roma hire a new coach going into next season.

Not much to say. I didn't anticipate greatness at the start of the season, but that was just horrid. I'd be embarrassed for Roma even if I were a neutral; I was appalled. I wanted to go back to the cottage and drink some more margaritas.

I know Montella didn't win against Inter, but I really wish we had gone with him.

It sounds like Zeman's losing the dressing room already, too.

Zeman became a caricature as a man/coach not to be taken seriously? Yeh, if you were reading Tuttosport. Zeman was cast out of Italian football for his attitude and for speaking out against Rubentus and the grip and influence they had over the game at that time. He didn't conform to the stereotypical old school Italian way of going along with the way things were done and instead spoke of the things that were wrong in the Italian game and the system, and ultimately was forced out of Roma and Italy. He was made a scapegoat and used as an example for others not to rock the boat.

You cannot compare Zeman to Edy Reja who got Napoli back to Serie A. After Napoli's demotion they were always going to be rebuilt and had the resources to work their way back to the top flight and everyone expected them too. Zeman at Foggia was an unknown. He had several other unsuccessful stints at other lower league clubs and not much was expected, yet he built an exciting young team which gained two straight promotions, the second in Serie B by a big margin, and then went on to have good success in Serie A where a lot of people thought they would struggle.

You can say your sick and tired of what he done at Foggia but quite simply he lead them to their greatest period in their history. Yes it was 23 years ago, but that was were he had his biggest achievement. He has had his success, and yes it has been with lower league clubs, but that is were he has ploughed his trade for most of his career, and like i've said before he was never given a proper chance at a bigger club. You're dead right in saying success in B does not convert to success in A, but everyone knew his appointment was a risk and it was a chance our management were willing to take. Now we have to give him the time to make his methods work.

Zeman is not a man to change his ways. When you hire Zeman you hire his attacking philosophy and style of football, and that takes time to develop. We still haven't got all the pieces right, most obviously at full-back like you mentioned, but if we haven't got the players, then what do people think is going to happen? Will Zeman change his tactics? Of course not. Balzaretti was a great signing and ideal for Zeman, but on the right we're in trouble with Piris struggling. We will almost certainly move for another right back in January, while there's even talk once again of Florenzi moving to right-back for Atalanta. Its going to take time to get right. Its a long road to Zemanlandia.

Stesso strano esempio di grinta eccessiva anche nelle reazioni rabbiose di Bonucci su Florenzi quando il punteggio era ormai ampliamente assicurato e un "ragazzino di primo pelo" muoveva timide proteste in area di rigore. Per concludere con una galoppata incredibile di Barzagli a tempo quasi scaduto dove tutto il campo viene percorso dal difensore prima di servire un assist al bacio al compagno Giovinco.

DOPING. Il sospetto inizia ad emergere quando arrivano le prime accuse di doping per Nadal. Julio Tous Fajardo è infatti legato col campione della racchetta spagnolo come preparatore, più volte si è occupato di lui e interpellato dai giornalisti ha dichiarato:" "Rafael Nadal è un atleta straordinario. Rafa è semplicemente due volte più potente di un qualsiasi giocatore di calcio, figuriamoci di tennis". Tuttavia, come si apprende da TennisWorld Italia: "Le "Journal de Dimanche" aveva inserito nella cosiddetta "lista nera", della quale fanno parte 58 ciclisti tra cui personaggi di primo piano quali "Piti" Valverde, Ivan Basso, Francesco Mancebo, Jan Ullrich e Alexandre Vinokurov, anche atleti di altri sport tra i quali il tennista Rafael Nadal e ben cinque atleti del Real Madrid additati come "clienti" della clinica del dottor Eufemiano Fuentes, capo della centrale di doping ematico scoperta nel 2010 in Spagna". Insomma si tratta dei misteriosi potenziamenti spagnoli che hanno portato gli iberici a eccellere in ogni sport, non è la prima volta che si sente questa storia. Vi proponiamo uno specchietto utilizzato dalla WADA (agenzia mondiale antidoping) tratto dal suo sito ufficiale per capire i fattori che indicano sospetto di doping: 1) Parametri biologici anormali; 2) Infortuni, assenza dai tornei programmati o ritiri; 3) Precedenti sospetti di doping; 4) Miglioramenti importanti improvvisi nelle prestazioni; 5) Omissione ripetuta di informazioni, compresi spostamenti geografici; 6) Età e storia dell'atleta; 7) Reintegrazione dell'atleta dopo un periodo di ineleggibilità; Incentivi finanziari per migliori prestazioni; 9) Associazione dell'atleta con terzi quali un coach o un medico con precedenti in materia doping; 10) Informazioni affidabili dai terzi.

NADAL. Già nel 2009 a seguito di una serie di infortuni dichiarati dal giocatore, lo spagnolo potè saltare i controlli antidoping prima di Winbledon, con una fitta rete di sospetti sollevata da colleghi tennisti e esperti dell'ambiente. Dopo il declino ci fù il possente ritorno del fenomeno spagnolo ma solo dopo una cura miracolosa. "Come si legge su TennisWorld Italia: "I giornali spagnoli hanno riportato che la cura di cui ha usufruito Rafa sia la PRT (Platelet Rich Therapy, terapia ricca di piastrine, traducendo alla lettera). Spieghiamo bene di cosa si tratta: il sangue del paziente viene preso e centrifugato in un macchinario, quindi il sangue coagulato viene iniettato nella zona dell'infortunio. Nadal stesso ha evidenziato come sia un trattamento "doloroso ed applicato direttamente sul tendine". Questo è un dettaglio non trascurabile, in quanto solo la parte del corpo in questione può ricevere il trattamento della PRT, altrimenti perseguibile dall'antidoping. Tamira Paszek infatti, per una variazione nella procedura sul trattamento alla schiena cui si è sottoposta nel 2009, è stata anche posta sotto indagine".Insomma un trattamento basato sull'iniezione di sangue "arricchito" con i fattori di crescita grazie al quale l'organismo rigenera più velocemente i tessuti lesionati nel corpo dell'atleta ed è impossibile determinare a posteriori questo tipo di pratica a meno che non sia dichiarata direttamente dall'interessato. Molti sospetti su Nadal, ma niente di concreto.

E allora la domanda nasce spontanea, cosa ci fa uno spagnolo esperto di potenziamento muscolare e ottimizzazione sportiva tra i preparatori della Juventus? Come è finito a lavorare per i bianconeri dopo aver lavorato con Nadal? In che rapporti è con Conte che lo ha voluto nel suo team? Conosce i segreti della pratica PRT?

Edzo, if you will excuse me, but I simply do not think you have enough knowledge of Zeman. You need to study him further before preparing a defense of the man and his tactics. Again, the Foggia situation is not relevant in 2012 and to continue to use that period as a springboard to success at Roma is fallacious to say the least. He became a caricature because he has an inability to keep his mouth closed and much of the time he just looked silly. A large majority supported what he said about rubentus so I do not think he was ostracized at all for his criticism of that scum club.

We have Balzaretti, yes, and in my opinion, he is our best player at the moment. Without belaboring this thing any longer, there is not much time to develop anything. Zeman signed a 2 year deal which I have said will not be fulfilled. Nevertheless, even if he stays for the 2 years, what happens after that? Another coach comes in with different ideas and tactics. I simply do not know if we are building anything. At least we had structure and stability under Capello and Spalletti. Management always defers to the coaching philosophy and I just do not think Zeman knows how to build a team. Personally, this 'it takes time to develop' bullshit is already wearing on my patience. You do not throw away a 2-0 lead at home to Bologna conceding 3 goals in the last 20 minutes and justify it by saying 'it takes time to develop'. Same for rubentus being down 3-0 after 19 minutes. There is no cogent defense to that kind of calcio.

This is an experiment with Zeman. One which I doubt will ultimately work and I desperately hope that I am wrong.

Of course, I don't have enough knowledge of the Zeman 'in his prime' era, if you will. It was way before my time and all I can go on are a few old videos and articles and stories to read. You have much more first hands experience of him. I do like Zeman and his footballing philosophy and tactics and I do think what he achieved at Foggia and Pescara can be replicated at Roma, otherwise I wouldn't be in support of him here – and neither need would Baldini or Sabatini. Although I never said the Foggia situation was relevant to Roma in 2012, I was only highlighting the success he had there in response to that garbage article from Football Italia which you posted.

Zeman's ways do take time to see fruition. The lads have suggested before that may be down to his hardcore training regimes and it may not be until January/February before his teams really start seeing the results, but there is no surefire method to achieving success at any club. He has only a two year deal, yes, but our management took him on in full confidence, and if in January things do start to click and we do reach Zemanlandia, then clearly we'll be in a lot better place going into the next season. After that, who knows with Zeman, he may be gone or he may sign another two year deal – it will in all likelihood be his last chance at the big time so he has to leave his mark.

The club signed Zeman because they knew it was a sure-fire way to get the fans off their backs for a little bit. Zeman may prove to be a genius and win eleventeen scudettoi at Roma in the next gazillion years but he was signed principally as a way to get the fans back on side. For some reason there was a noisy ground-swell of support for Zeman and the directors latched onto that. It was the sensible thing to do to buy themselves some time and good-will. I very much doubt they took him on in full confidence.

You want to win something? As in this season?! I dont think anyone, even the most optimistic Roma fans, would have thought we'd win anything this season (inevitable standard Coppa victory aside). I'd be delighted with CL qualification this season. Without question. Third place would be great. Then, next year, after a full season of Zeman, all things going to plan, then perhaps we can wish for more.

You make valid points about Zeman's system and over attacking philosophy, but like i've said, that is Zeman, we knew that before hand and he ain't gonna change now. Its up to him and his coaching staff to get the players to be able to play like he wants, and while we will (continue to) suffer in defence, we have yet to click at all going forward, so it has to be worked on. Our full-backs are required to attack all the time, but we have yet to get that out of our right-back, so what does that tell you? We still havent got the players required to succeed. I also think moving De Rossi back to mediano will help us greatly in defence. Tachtisidis is a good player, but he's not quite there yet, and back in the middle is where we'll get the best out of Daniele and help the entire team.

No-one else in the league will have had talents like Verratti, Insigne, etc..

I don't think Pescara were considered amongst the favourites for Serie B promotion last season, never mind actually winning the league. And even though Verratti has been hyped for a few years now, not many people really heard of Insigne before last season, did they? Zeman coached Insigne before at Foggia – these young players like to play under him as he gives youth its chance. That Pescara side were built around Verratti, Insigne and Immobile.
