What DCG is suggesting, threadmund, is, given that a) Pjanic and Totti have been seen to have struggled to play together because they are too similar, as both giocatori di costruzione, as Zeman most recently put it, and b) to-date Lamela and Lopez both seem to have been considered pre-eminently options down the right, he wonders if, in the absence of Totti, we might in fact see Pjanic employed on the left of the front three.

I see, that could be an interesting move if Zeman does indeed go with it. So I guess Marquinho to come into the middle? I wonder, though, what does it say for Pjanic's future if he isnt suited to playing in midfield when Totti is playing, and when Totti is not playing?

What the hell, what a mess. We've released an official complaint (below) and rightfully so, its feckin ridiculous carry on. The squad had traveled to Sardinia, and then after the authorities said the stadio is not fit for fans, Cellino tells the fans to come anyway? Ridiculous behaviour, of course the local council had to call the game off. Cellino and Cagliari should be punished for this debacle, and even though Id prefer the win on the pitch, we should be awarded the three points. Fuckin eijits. Actually suits me, anyway, as the All-Ireland football final is on today and so I will be out watching that.

In light of the decision taken by the prefect of Cagliari to postpone Cagliari v Roma, as a direct consequence of the statement published by Cagliari Calcio yesterday, AS Roma would like to announce that it has lodged a complaint to the appropriate sporting governing bodies.
AS Roma general manager Franco Baldini gave the following statement: "Roma clearly intends to support its own interests along with those of its fans, but the club also wants to protect a fundamental principle, namely that sporting competition should respect the rules, which are objective and should at no time be manipulated to suit vested interests."

Sounds like desperate measures from Cagliari. Cellino and Cagliari's actions are pathetic and the league needs to come down hard on them to show that they can't just do what they want. Its a sad situation, but rules are there for a reason and we should be awarded the match and Cellino should be punished. At least Baldini to Cagliari's statement.

Why are they pathetic? They may be wrongheaded, but if you think you're being screwed over by someone hiding behind abuse of the rules, do you just down-trousers and take it? It's not as though Italy has a particularly solid tradition of rule-following and transparency.

You don't think what they are doing is pathetic? This isn't a joke or the powers that be just out to get Cagliari or Cellino, its a serious matter which Cagliari are making a mockery off by their actions. The local council deemed their new stadio unsafe to hold fans as its still in construction and they failed to meet certain safety measures – not putting in place support barriers, railings, that sort of thing – and right from the start there were problems with redeveloping the arena as the area it is in was deemed unsuitable to be holding such large crowds. I don't want to be quoting rules and regulations, but this is pretty basic shit. The stadio failed certain Serie A league standards and you can't just have any old stadia being used for top end games, so these regulations simply have to be met and Cagliari need to spend the funds to do so (and Cellino does have the money, he tried to buy West Ham a couple of years ago). You can't just allow these eccentric club presidents to defy the authorities and make his own rules, and by not cracking down on Cellino and Cagliari the league would be allowing people like him to do stuff like this, and the authorities need to put a stop to these sort of old-school mentalities and attitudes for the good of calcio as a whole.
