teci, you forum whore, i understand what you mean about making the pasta being to much of a hassle... but i find it very enjoyabnle... in the beginning the taste was fine but good lord it looked like a mess, but its been becoming easier and easier. Although still when i'm out of time i might go buy some of the packed stuff. Although i'm not toally against the dried pasta. I learnt from some of the chefs i've watched is that for some dishes, dried pasta is actually preferably. But i'm talking about rh spaghetti's, the penne's and farfalle's. Ravioli and tortellini are deeeeeesgusting if you buy the dried crap.

P.s tec... i just got to ottawa, and i keep forgetting how much i lvoe it at this time of the year. word of advice, goto the market and buy a couple of handfulls of fresh basil for a dollar, make a couple of jarsd of pesto.. and mmmmmmmmmmmm.... and try the purple basil to... thats one way to impress to knockers out of a woman

Yes aba, there are many pasta recipes where pasta asciutta is prefered over pasta all'uovo. Linguini alle vongole, with the fresh clams of course comes to mind. The famous Roman Buccatini all'Amatriciana calls for dried pasta. There are many others where the fresh pasta just does not hold up to the sauce, whether made with eggs or without. But if you make a simple sauce for spaghetti al filetto di Pomodoro, then pasta fatta a mano is excellent.

Lasagna, tortellini, tortelloni, canneloni, ravioli etc, are more conducive to the hand made stuff even though, this no boil Lasagna coming out of Italy is very good indeed.

Have you ever eaten black ravioli stuffed with Sepia? You know Sepia is similar to a squid but larger, with better taste in my opinion. The blackness is from the "ink" of the Sepia. You may have seen this with squid ink. Eating this is a religious experience.

actually, for about two weeks now, my allergies have been through the roof here in ottawa. otherwise, it would be great this time of year as it's really an outdoors kind of town. i never had real allergy problems until i moved here. it's the fucking ragweed pollen that is everywhere. my boss tells me that ottawa is one of the worst places for pollen allergies because we are in a valley and the pollen just lingers here. i have the desire to just scratch my eyes out with a fork because they burn. they burn like syphilis.

i have never thought about making pesto, though it's a great suggestion. i will certainly look into it. the problem would be in getting the pine nuts. when i was living in italy, they were growing everywhere, but here, they are ridiculously expensive, and i just don't know if i can call my homemade pesto pesto if it doesn't have the pine nuts.

as for owen wilson, he reportedly initiated the brake up with kate hudson, and now he's trying to kill himself over her? just too far fetched, if you ask me. i'm still convinced this has more to do with the penis growing on his face rather than anything else.
