I've got nothing against Harper. I just think he's no Richard Wright and certainly no Roy Carroll.

Let's be honest, Pocari - if the English media all think he's great then he must be rubbish. I see Ferguson's "useless" acquisition is now "the best left back in the world." Just the other day I saw Graham Souness being asked whether he thought Steve Harper should have left Gnucassil to try and make his mark elsewhere and he replied "definitely. It's just like the situation with Totti over in Italy. He was too scared of being found out if he tried his luck at a bigger club like Macclesfield Town or Cambridge United and so preferred to be a hero in his home town - a big fish in a small pond."

If I was in a small room with Greame Souness and two man eating tigers and had a gun with two bullets, I would shoot Souness twice without any hesitation.

And the best one from English pundits was, 'It's a shame we never found out how good Totti really is, since he never came to England to test himself.'

Echoing Shield's thoughts, happy new years to all. Pocari, I'm interested in how things went. My first Absynthe experience was straight up, but at my fraternity Christmas party, which was to put it mildly, a shitshow. So before and after it was a mixture of beer, sake, egg nogg, goldschlager, jager, gin, and god knows what else.

NYE for me, like Shield said was just another night out but a good one. I am most certainly glad I did not mix different kinds of wine, though the tequila shots did a number on me.... Had my first dinner of the year though and had a traditional HK/Canton winter dish, snake soup, for the first time. Not too shabby.

Tom, it's still just a bit after 3 am here - no hangover yet. Suffice it to say it has been a hell of a night. I've had to get one brother out of a fight, beat him up a bit later on, and make another brother's girlfriend cry. Happy New Year. (Oh, and I didn't even get laid)
