In side news if the deal goes through it is believed that Trigoria will become a prefecture of Argentina. The Argentine Ambassador to Rome (and presumed Prefect-to-be) released a statement hailing the decision and said that, "...while I grew up a River Plate fan, they are not Argentine enough for my liking. Therefore AS Roma is my new club. A club commited to allowing Argentine"s to showcase their talents"

Roma have agreed a deal with Vincenzo Montella and his arrival at the club is imminent, according to reports. The Catania boss is the hot favourite to be named new coach and Goal.com are reporting that he has agreed a two-year deal worth €3.6 million per year.

Now the Giallorossi have to negotiate a settlement with his current club in order to complete the deal. It is also thought that Montella will look to bring some of his Catania side to the Stadio Olimpico with central defender Nicolas Spolli, forward Alejandro Gomez and striker Gonzalo Bergessio the main names in question.

So according to the CdS, Juve get Higuain and we get Rolando ... at 26, the Portugeuse could be the right blend of youth and experience, but I admit that I haven't seen a whole lot of him. It'd be a pal for Juan in this Spanish-speaking wonderland, I suppose.

Rolando is a good defender alright, but his agent has any interest from us in his client, saying Sabatini is in Portugal to look at other players, namely Ezequiel Garay of Benfica and Belgian midfielder tender Alex Witsel.

being mention for the defence are Mathias Silvestre of Palermo (I'd like him), Leandro Castan of Corinthians (a bit unproven, I think he's like 26 and played in Europe before goin back to Brasil which is always dodgy), Otamendi of Porto and Garay of Benfica (not sure about either), Dede of Vasco da Gama (good but molto expensive). Valencia are also interested in JA, as they're likely to sell Jordi Alba (back to) Barcelona. All this depends on who our manager is and what he has to say, I suppose.

In other mercato news, Moussa Sissoko’s agent has been a move to Roma. Again. Right thats my mercato madness wrap done.

The silly season is extended to our manager. This week's stories first suggested that Montella was coming to Roma and we'd set up even more of an Argie camp. The latest has Catania reiterating 'no, he's ours'.

Catania are just posturing to try and get as much compensation as possible when Montella goes to Roma.
